As you can see there is a Globe-Wernicke sticker on the back inside of the drawer(see photos) I do not know the age of this piece as I acquired it almost 30 years ago in used condition. The drawing storage drawers have an interior dimension of 30-1/2" x 23-1/2" x 4" There are added metal divider clips in 3 of the drawers and 1 drawer has divider boards in the clips. Top Section Stackable Bookcase & Drawer File Cabinet GLOBE Oak Wood 1930's
This Was the top section of a GLOBE stackable Bookcase. It has drawers as seen in photos. This was found all by itself sitting in an old barn here in California. It is not in the best of shape as you can see by my detail photos. It will need to be restored if you are planning on using it once again as it was intended. The one side of the cabinet was sitting close to an ope door. So it shows weathering to the wood and metal strap. It has chips to the wood, cracks and will need some glue to make this all come back together. I am trying to be right up front with those looking at the auction that this will need restoration. Antique Large Oak Single Drawer Filing File Cabinet 24"x13"x 14.5"
12 3/4" tall. 14 1/2" wide with the cabinet being 24" deep-24 1/2" deep counting the drawer-25 1/2" deep counting the handle. Inside drawer is 12" wide and you have 10 3/4" of room between the drawer bottom and top inside of the cabinet. It has some very minor chips. No bottom in it-never was. It is an old one from around the 1910's to 1920's. From an estate sale. A 5-section barriester bookcase with base and top. The top 3 sections are regular bookcases, the bottom two sections each have 3 file cabinet drawers. Patent date 1917. Overall outside dimensions are 41.5" wide, 17" deep, and 79" tall. The inside dimensions of the bookcase shelf: 15.5" between the back and the back face of the door, 40" wide, and 10" tall to the bottom of the door when it is rolled up- that is, the*useful* height that you could fit a book in. I did some google research and couldn't find a standard size the corresponded to these dimensions. So they may be a custom unit. Very deep, but pretty short. There's nail holes on the fronts of the file drawers, looks like they used to have handles, and probably also brass frames for putting a label in. So you might want to replace ... morethose. They will ship freight. Crated. I ship a lot of stuff freight, so have no worries, they will be well padded and protected. 67" tall. 33" wide, 25"deep. Two bookcase sections 14.5" tall. One 12.5" tall. Style seems to be Mission crossing over to Mid Century Modern. Stow Davis was one of the top furniture makers of high quality office furniture. They employed well known designers and are known for their Mid Century Modern styles. This piece is very well built high quality solid walnut. Great orginial condition and finish. It has seven stacking sections. Base, file cabinet, file cabinet top, three bookcase sections, bookcase top. Each section is stamped with Stow Davis logo, several sections have 1934 date on them. Hardware looks to be high quality stainless steel. This is a quite nice file cabinet bookcase combination with paneled sides. Executed in quartered quarter sawn oak it was manufactured by the GLOBE Company. A stackable type of cabinet somewhat like a barrister bookcase in that each piece sits and locks on top of the other-4 pieces in this cabinet-base. Stack of file drawers, stack of sliding door bookcase, and the top or cap. The file cabinet drawers hold standard size paper; they have metal inserts and each of the paper holders or'followers' are present. The bookcase section has sliding doors much like a Danner bookcase might; each side has two adjustable shelves. The piece is in overall very good condition with an earlier refinish which is smooth and even. There are a couple of stains which are not significant-please see photos in that regard. Antique Globe Wernicke Oak Stacking File Cabinet Barrister
Up for auction is a Globe Wernicke file cabinet from between 1910 and 1920. It is made of quartered oak with an antique oak finish and brass hardware. The gold"Globe" stenciling still remains on the top of the unit. The dimentions are 18' deep. 17.5 wide and 31.5' tall. It is fully functional and the file cabinet unit and the card catalog drawers work as intended with the original hardware remaining. Condition: Good original condition with the usual age related scratches and blemishes to the finish. There is dark staining and a little rippling to the veneer on the top. Most of the finish is definately originial. But I'm really not sure if the sides of the file cabinet unit have been refinished at some point. They have the same type of wear as the rest of the unit, but are noticibly lighter than the patina on the rest ... moreof the pieces. The brass side bands have oxidation on parts of them. Shipping: Good news.I have all the packing materials and therefore will not charge a wrapping fee. Bad news.this is a heavy piece. About 60 lbs all packaged up so will be expensive to ship. Mission Style original Globe Wernicke Co. Solid Tiger Sawn oak 3 drawer File Cabinet. This is a beautiful piece of furniture made around early 1900's. The cabinet measures 48" tall and 17" width.
