This wonderful item features all individual panes of bubble glass. Carved broken arch pediment, 4 doors on the top, 2 doors on the bottom, 5 dovetailed drawers, drop front leather top writing surface, brass hardware, beautiful wood grain, and ample shelving. Each of the drawers has a working lock and the key is included. There are 3 glass shelves on the upper center and 6 wood shelves in the upper left and right unit. Each of lower doors conceals one wood shelf. The upper unit is lighted but the current cord should be replaced. This item is in wonderful antique condition with only minor signs of age appropriate wear as pictured. The original antique bubble glass is free from breaks or damage which is very hard to come by. The backing to the upper unit looks to be lined in a off white colored wall paper and there is a red drip stain to this surface as seen in image#18 on the lower left side. Wear to the finish on one of the shelves can also be seen in image#18. Breakfront measures 92"h x 72"w x 16"d in total. The upper unit measures 56"h x 70"w x 12"d. The lower unit measures 36"h x 72"w x 12"d. I have added many pictures so you can get the best idea of its beauty and condition and supersize all pictures for some great closeup shots. Knob width at the TOP DIAMETER is 1 3/16" TOTAL KNOB HEIGHT is 7/8" BASE WIDTH IS 1/2" These are the correct size and profile for the drawer bases for Globe Wernicke® and Macey stack units(although they work great for Gunn, Lundstrum, Weis, Danner and others as well) There were at least 8 different styles of knobs. This style was the most prominent and the best made of the 4 cast versions. It is made of polished brass and then aged to match your original knobs. This is a superb Cotswold School oak and coromandel wood book trough. The quality of this piece is so easy to see. It is so lavish and over the top with exposed construction. The additional use of contrasting luxury woods is further evidence that this was a top quality piece when it was made. The through tenons and contrasting foxwedges act as a real decorative feature. As do the stylish canted edges. The quality of this piece can be further seen with the fine mitre joint in the coromandel edging. I imagine that this piece was made around 1950. It very much looks like the work produced by Alan Peters when he was working and training at the Barnsley workshop. I cannot definitely attribute it to him though. The shelf has splitting visible on both sides which is not unusual for its age. One of the Book Ends has bad hinge hardware which needs to be replaced.The corresponding hardware mate on the shelf is in need of replacement as well. The Pins for the hardware hinges are missing but can be replaced making functional the folding-in feature of the Book Ends. This is a hand tooled. Hammered copper pulls with locking doors. These pulls are patterned from the original designs of Gustav and Leopold Stickley. This is the same cast copper hardware that has been re-issued by the Stickley company. These pulls duplicate the hand-hammered texture of the originals and are finished to a warm, glowing patina. 73" wide x 13" deep and 57" high. VTG expanding hand carved decorative scrolled & designed wood book holder great
This all wood hand carved and hand made in India book shelf-holder-book end is in great to excellent vintage condition. The scrolling is very detailed and quite decorative! It looks like some type of rich wood was used for it appears to be very solid and constructed very well. In fact I'm guessing this wood is no longer around? The shelf expands from one length to move to another longer length. The scrolling is a flower. Leaf and Asian marking type of design of some type very, very NICE! There is also a sybolic marking on it from whomever the artist was who carved this gem! The color is a rich dark. The shelf/ holder expands when pulled appart and the sides that hold the books fold up and down flat. It is a real neat piece very very decorative and collectable wood carving. This is a nice antique Roycroft Little Journeys bookstand from the early 1900s- Mission and Arts& Crafts period The piece is made of quarter sawn oak with original Roycroft metal tag. The stand has excellent form. Overhanging top, four keyed through tenons on the sides, and shoe feet. It is held together with the tenons and four screws that anchor the table top to the legs. Very simple design. The table was photographed with the tenons just resting in place for easy breakdown and shipping, they need to be tapped in to secure tightly. From a recent Estate cleanout comes this mix of old Globe Wernicke sectional bookcases. There are 13 pcs total. 12 sections and 1 top cover. There are no doors, what you see is what you get. Some Oak, some Mahogany, 2 have labels that say pattern 111, 6 say pattern c-11, 4 are unmarked with no labels but Im pretty certain they are all G W. Actually 1 of the unsigned sections has the fancy GW side straps so you know its GW. The top cap piece is missing the right side panel. These are all in need of a cleanup and/or restoration. Beautiful Custom Mission Arts& Crafts Style reproduction triple bookcase. Cabinet is quarter sawn white oak with a warm patina finish. Shelves and back are straight grain white oak. Built in the old style of mortise and tenon construction. Hammered copper pulls with locking doors. These pulls are patterned from the original designs of Gustav and Leopold Stickley. This is the same cast copper hardware that has been re-issued by the Stickley company. These pulls duplicate the hand-hammered texture of the originals and are finished to a warm. Glowing patina.
