It is in the original old dark ... morereddish brown stain finish. This has four glass doors and plenty of space for books. The overall size is 78 inches wide, 18 inches deep and 60 inches high. The side compartments are 20 inches wide and two shelves are behind each door. The center section is 31 inches wide and has three shelves. The overall condition is good. There are a few minor pieces of molding missing, one keyhole cover is missing, and is in good overall condition for being 130 years old. It has panel sides, carved columns, multi-molded edge on the breakfront and carved pillars. It is an impressive bookcase with a few minor issues. This is a really nice quartersawn oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacked bookcase. This piece was manufactured by the GLOBE WERNICKE Company of Cincinnati. They were competitors of Macey and others. Four separate stacks with this bookcase-a graduated unit with 3 different sizes. Note the top unit has a leaded glass door. Original labels on the interior and nice leopard bands on the sides. Super finish which is smooth and even. The interior height of the units is 13.5. 11.5, and two which are 9.5. The overall size of the piece is 34 wide, 12 deep, and 57.5 high. I don't think you will find a nicer four stack unit. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Rare form carved quartered oak barrister bookcase with desk leaded glass-14489
This is a great carved quartered oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacking bookcase. This outstanding stacking desk bookcase is one of the nicest we have ever seen. It has leaded glass windows in the top two sections below the molded top. The carved fall board has a key that opens or locks the desk section. Inside are two strong desk lid supports and a nice set of pigeon holes with a single pencil drawer-fitted interior. The desk section sits above two full width drawers. The top drawer is shaped to fit the curve. The second drawer is carved to accent the fall board. Both drawers have original brass handles. The lowest section is an extra tall one with a"blind" door or wood paneled door to prevent breakage from feet. The entire piece sits on a molded base section. This is a really nice four door quartersawn oak bookcase. When I original purchased this cabinet I thought it was a Danner sliding door bookcase. I am not so sure of that. May have been made by another company but has the same type operation. Two doors on each stackable section slide back and forth. Adjustable shelf in each section. We have refinished this piece and it is in excellent condition with a smooth and even finish. Original wavy glass and also note the brass handles-rather Arts& Crafts style I would say. Rare, Antique Shaw Walker Barrister Bookcase, glass front, 3 piece Pick up NJ
Rare. Highly collectible Antique Barrister bookcase from the reputable Shaw Walker company. Stackable 3 piece, glass fronts. I am not sure of the type of wood, either cherry or mahogany- this piece is from the early 1900's- it has been well preserved and taken care of. The front and sides have been painted with a black Ethan Allen paint to match the other furniture we have- the inside of each unit and the back has not been painted. The measurements are about 49 1/2 inches tall(stacked with the 3 pieces) 34 inches width, and the depth is 11 1/2 inches. The top has a small scratch in the paint that measures a few inches, but the wood is not scratched as far as I can see. You can either touch up this paint scratch or remove the paint all together and restore to the orginal wood. Local pick up in New Jersey(zip code 07030)

Beautiful vintage Shaw Walker bookcase. The piece is comprised of 5 stacked parts(4 shelves plus the cap at the top) which are held together by dowels. One of the doors sags a little when slid into the frame, two of the pulls need repair, and a couple of the dowels that hold the levels together are missing. I am selling an solid wood antique book case with carved claw feet. It was my grandmother's and was given to me when she passed away. I love this bookcase but I have no where to keep it and it has been sitting in storage since it was given to me. It is probably mahogany but maybe walnut. It is has two glass doors and locks. I should have the key. It has cast iron spoon shaped shelf pins which from what I have researched are from the early 1900's. There is a ding on the outside of the right door which is visible in the pictures and it is missing the door pull but is in good condition given its age. It would look absolutely stunning if refinished. It has beautiful carved details both on the doors and on the feet. Really a very lovely piece. Today it remains as beautiful as ever. With a rich oak complexion that would complement any setting. The ridged carving at the top of the piece contrasts beautifully with the astragal glass doors, which provide a lovely view into the interior. The lower set of doors is carved with a classic ... morelinenfold design, while the bookcase itself rests on carved bun feet. Both sets of locking doors open to reveal four adjustable shelves. Overall this bookcase remains in very good condition, although it has sustained some wear marks in the wood, particularly around the base. These marks are very minor and are normal for a piece of this age, lending it the genuine character of an antique piece. As a result this linenfold bookcase would make a fine addition to any period English furniture collection! This lovely oak bookcase dates back to 1950's England! The interior contains four adjustable shelves. This bookcase looks great from any angle. Shown here is the opposite side. All four shelves are adjustable with brass pins.
