He was 96 when he passed and he got this desk from his parents estate in Spokane Wa. when they passed. It is made from solid oak and on the ends of the top board you can see that the top is tongue and grooved. Very hard to show in the pictures. I don't know tiger oak from quarter sawn oak so you be the judge. There is some what appears to be grey paint on one corner of the top. please see pictures. Someone drove 2 finish nails about 2' long into the top of one of the legs. One leg has a chip out of it at the bottom about the size of a quarter and another leg has a little grey paint at the bottom of one side. See pictures. I have made no attempt to repair. Clean or restore the finish on this desk, it is in the condition it was given me in. All in all this desk is in great vintage condition given its age. Top of desk 36 1/2" wide x 24 1/2" deep and the desk top is 29 1/2" above the floor. Will ship via Greyhound Bus to a station of your choice for you to pick up. Was made by The Biggs Antique Furniture Company of Richmond. Virginia. This Colonial chair was described by Biggs as"An expression of the taste of the Mistress of Mount Vernon" This reproduction piece is a traditional Chippendale style library chair with upholstered arms. Tight seat and a mahogany stretcher base with plain straight legs and corner brackets. The frame is constructed of hardwood. It has eight-way hand tied springs. The overall measurements are 27 inches wide, 28 1/2 inches deep and 42 1/2 inches high. The chair is in good original finish and condition; it is tight and solid. The fabric has very little wear; mainly on the end of the arms as shown in pictures#4& 5. The ... morewood is in good condition with normal wear for age; some sun fading. There is a very early tiny repair to the front left bottom corner edge of the leg as shown in picture#7. There are no smells or odors. Biggs stopped making this chair in the late 1960's and this one is from the 1950's. The"BIGGS" cloth label is attached to the under area of the chair. This lovely piece would work well with your Colonial Williamsburg reproduction and restoration items and from other such great makers of fine furniture from Baker. This impressive. Stylish rotating globe on base stands approx. 30 1/2” tall. The Replogle 16” sphere on metal axis is in very fine condition. Minor flaws to surface should be evident in photographs. There is no date. For that reason I have included a photograph of Africa so that the geographically savvy might ascertain a date based on what countries are, or are not included. The fine cherry wood base by Brandt is approx. 21 3/8” tall and 22 1/2” across. It carries the Brandt- Since 1901, Hagerstown, Maryland label. It has wonderful little wheels. Rare Atlas furniture library table/desk with 3 drawers. In 1883 two Swedish craftsman. Gustaf Holmberg and Lars Erickson, started the first bedroom furniture manufacturer in Jamestown, New York. Some time later, there were as many as 40 different companies manufacturing bedroom furniture in that area. Those Swedish craftsman named their company the"Swedish Furniture Manufacturing Corporation" They renamed that company in 1887 the"Atlas Furniture Company" which became widely regarded as the highest quality bedroom furniture manufacturer in the United States from 1890 to 1920. We estimate this item was made sometime around 1905 to 1920. It still has its original paper label and matching pulls. Looks to be make from mahagony and birds eye maple. LIBRARY TABLE This is a large. Heavy-duty table. It is approximately 110 yrs. old– crafted by the W.N. Artz Furniture Co. in Dayton, OH. The wood is very dark, like walnut or mahogany. Not sure. I'm not sure about the style. The measurements are: 72in. long; 34in. deep; 30in. tall; 5in. thick top. It has 6 drawers: 18in. by 15in. each on the wide side of the table. It shows some age. I think it is beautiful.
