4 glass door quartered oak sliding door bookcase--Danner style--14477
This is a really nice four door quartersawn oak bookcase. When I original purchased this cabinet I thought it was a Danner sliding door bookcase. I am not so sure of that. May have been made by another company but has the same type operation. Two doors on each stackable section slide back and forth. Adjustable shelf in each section. We have refinished this piece and it is in excellent condition with a smooth and even finish. Original wavy glass and also note the brass handles-rather Arts& Crafts style I would say. Also from the same estate I purchase an almost identical unit but it has two glass doors on one section and two blind doors on the other-my stock number 14500. Globe Wernicke D 10.1/4 299 Barrister Bookcase 4 Sections w/Bottom Drawer
We are pleased to offer this beautiful antique barrister bookcase. This is made by the Globe Wernicke Company. There is a sticker on the back wall of two of the sections. that reads D10 1/4 299. The top section meausres 13" high to the glass door opening. The next two sections measure 10.5" to the top of the glass door opening and the bottom section measures 10.2" to the top with the glass door open. The assembled piece measures 61.25" high and has a width of 34" and an overall depth of 12" The depth of the main body is 11" This is the standard style with plain glass doors made from quarter sawn oak and oak veneers. This has the original brass hardware. There are some light age and use appropriate scratches and dings. There are paint specks on this. A gouge in the wood on one side and there is an area onthe ... moretop that the veneer is coming loose. There is a piece of sticky tape from a hook on the right side at the top of this. Each section is marked with the Globe Werneike trade mark. It is solid and sturdy. It stands evenly on the floor. The windows have antique wavy glass and there are NO breaks. The bookcase is a step-back bookcase- meaning the bottom section is deeper then the rest and extends forward. This is a nice feature for storing larger books. The only other detail is the rear of the bookcase it is not attractive. No explanation- it's just that way- some sections of the laminate backing have opened. We were going to give the back a coat of varnish but never did. We are no longer cleaning up furniture- we are clearing out our inventory. There is no tag on the underside of this unit to tell us but we know from the four small tacks, this is where the label was, it has been torn off, but it does reveal its made by Globe Wernicke and its obvious that the wood is mahogony. The bookcase stands on splayed feet supporting the main section where there are two small wooden panel doors and two larger leaded light doors. Antique Barrister Bookcase 4 Stacking Bookcases With Bottom Drawer
Up for auction is a lovely antique barrister stacking bookcase. This lovely piece has 4 stacking bookcases. With one drawer on the bottom. The piece measures 34" wide, 57.5" tall, and 11" deep. All the cases slide open with ease still. One of the cases has a small chip along the edge of the glass, the chip does not go all the way through the glass however. There is normal wear and tear on this piece given the age and use, but only minor wear and scratches. I have shown various pictures of the like. There are holes drilled into the back of one of the cases with writing, it is also shown in the pictures. The drawer is missing the bottom of it as well. Let me know if there are any other questions. RARE 3/4 width(25" Globe-Wernicke top in solid Maple(style 598 1/2) In great shape considering it is 100+ years old. Original finish w/original tag. This is a size"D" depth top. Little dusty and could benefit from some light cleaning. There are scratches consistent with age and there appears to be some uneven aging to the stain on the top(as if there were books placed on the top and not moved for years. Exposing some of the top to sun and other parts not so much) You should be able to see this in the pictures. No water, mold damage. I also have the corresponding base for auction as well.
