Four separate stacks with this bookcase-a graduated unit with 3 different sizes. Note the top unit has a leaded glass door. Original labels on the interior and nice leopard bands on the sides. Super finish which is smooth and even. The interior height of the units is 13.5. 11.5, and two which are 9.5. The overall size of the piece is 34 wide, 12 deep, and 57.5 high. I don't think you will find a nicer four stack unit. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Up for auction is an original finish mahogany GLOBE 3/4 sized 2 stack barrister bookcase. One of the stacks has the original leaded glass door. The other has the original glass door. The doors move smoothly. The stacks are in the original finish. Have the original scissors and have the original stickers on the sections. The backs of the stacks are in excellent condition. The base is rolled, and the cap is bull nosed. The stacks are 25 1/2" wide. The stacks are 11" deep on the outside. There is a little wear on the front of the base. This is a really nice quartersawn oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacked bookcase. This piece was manufactured by the GLOBE WERNICKE Company of Cincinnati. They were competitors of Macey and others. Four separate stacks with this bookcase-a graduated unit with 3 different sizes. Note the top unit has a leaded glass door. Original labels on the interior and nice leopard bands on the sides. Super finish which is smooth and even. The interior height of the units is 13.5. 11.5, and two which are 9.5. Rare form carved quartered oak barrister bookcase with desk leaded glass-14489
This is a great carved quartered oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacking bookcase. This outstanding stacking desk bookcase is one of the nicest we have ever seen. It has leaded glass windows in the top two sections below the molded top. The carved fall board has a key that opens or locks the desk section. Inside are two strong desk lid supports and a nice set of pigeon holes with a single pencil drawer-fitted interior. The desk section sits above two full width drawers. The top drawer is shaped to fit the curve. The second drawer is carved to accent the fall board. Both drawers have original brass handles. The lowest section is an extra tall one with a"blind" door or wood paneled door to prevent breakage from feet. The entire piece sits on a molded base section. This is a rather rare quartersawn oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacking bookcase. Have not had one of this style in many years. Usually referred to as a'Canadian' barrister bookcase. Not sure why but assume they were manufactured in Canada. Like most other barristers except the front windows are rounded on each side-makes for an interesting look. This piece has been refinished and is in excellent condition. I notice everything appears original but one of the scissors closing mechanisms I think has been replaced-looks and works well. This unit is graduated in that the bottom two sections are taller(13.5) than the top section(11.5)nice for storing different size objects. The Globe Wernicke company(a competitor of Macey and others) made many fine styles of barrister bookcases(sometimes called lawyers bookcase or stacked bookcase) but none rival their'Ideal' model. With fancy carving. Columns, and serpentine front, they were not rivaled in the sectional bookcase market. Note the following in this quartered oak unit: dentil molding along top, leaded glass on top door with beveled glass on all the other doors, step out base with drawer, raised panel sides including the base, fancy carvings on top and bottom ends. The unit has three graduated size stacks and the entire bookcase is in exceptional restored condition-some of the backs, bands, etc may have been replaced) Dimensions of the stacks are 34 wide and 11.5 deep. Rare. Highly collectible Antique Barrister bookcase from the reputable Shaw Walker company. Stackable 3 piece, glass fronts. I am not sure of the type of wood, either cherry or mahogany- this piece is from the early 1900's- it has been well preserved and taken care of. The front and sides have been painted with a black Ethan Allen paint to match the other furniture we have- the inside of each unit and the back has not been painted. The measurements are about 49 1/2 inches tall(stacked with the 3 pieces) 34 inches width, and the depth is 11 1/2 inches. The top has a small scratch in the paint that measures a few inches, but the wood is not scratched as far as I can see. We are pleased to offer this beautiful antique barrister bookcase. This is made by the Globe Wernicke Company. There is a sticker on the back wall of two of the sections. that reads D10 1/4 299. The top section meausres 13" high to the glass door opening. The next two sections measure 10.5" to the top of the glass door opening and the bottom section measures 10.2" to the top with the glass door open. The assembled piece measures 61.25" high and has a width of 34" and an overall depth of 12" The depth of the main body is 11" This is the standard style with plain glass doors made from quarter sawn oak and oak veneers. This has the original brass hardware. There are some light age and use appropriate scratches and dings. There are paint specks on this. A gouge in the wood on one side and there is an area onthe ... moretop that the veneer is coming loose. There is a piece of sticky tape from a hook on the right side at the top of this.
