This wonderful piece is an antique wooden mercantile display case for hand and machine sewing needles turned thread case. It contains two drawers; the top drawer has been broken in half at the back and has part of the right hand porcelain knob broken off. The bottom drawer is whole and contains 136 full and partial wooden spools of thread. It is in rather rough shape. With the finish and structure gouged up in several places, as pictured. It measures 12" x 18" x 5" Even with all the damage it has suffered, this piece is still great and would make a wonderful addition to the vintage sewing or craft room. We're sorry. Antique spool thread advertising display solid oak/mirror MERRICKS SPOOL COTTON
This is an antique spool thread advertising display with a mirror. Across top of frame: MERRICK'S SPOOL COTTON; and remnants of an eagle in the center. It measures 35 1/2" long x 25" high x 4 1/2" deep. The mirror is 29 1/2" x 6 1/2" and has some scratches and some black spots. It is backed by wood. I don't know how this piece originally worked. I think it hung as an independent piece. But maybe was part of something larger or a base piece that this hung over. There are slots on the inside of the frame work(see photo) maybe had sliding wires with spools on them, one wooden rod was there when I got it from my family's estate, and I added one so I could use it as a towel holder. Up for auction is a.Primitive Country Store. 2 draw Oak Thread Display Case 22" X 16" X 5 1/2" original eyelet style porcelain knobs found on a farm in Green County Tn, I was told that it was a thread display, and it came out of one of the local stores in the area, some of the dividers in the second draw are missing as you can see.The exterior wood is oak and I believe the dividers are pine it looks like some nails have been added to tighten draws, smooth glass, it must of been replaced. The cabinet is large and measures 17.5”W x 15”D x 18”H. The thread in the drawers is for display purposes to show you what size of thread can be used in each drawer and is not included with the cabinet. Condition shows scratches/nicks. Some minor wood chipping, and paint discoloration on the inside of the drawers. On the third drawer down you will see chips in the outer lower corners. This is a thick piece of glass that can be removed easily and replaced if desired. Antique Arts& Crafts Era Wood Wall Mount Store Display Cabinet Thread Display I had an opportunity to go down state Illinois recently for the homecoming of my Alma Mater and shopped the wonderful sales. Barn sales and antique shops along the way. I have a huge variety of oldees for you this week- from 19th century primitives to 1950s kitsch- there’s something for everyone! This one is very very cool. It's a farm auction find that no one could identify for me. But the general consensus(and I agree) is that it was more than likely a store thread spool display piece. Made of solid wood, it has a tiger oak decorative veneer that shows some wear and egdge shipping. If you like rustic, the cabinet is for you- if you are looking for a project, it would be a beauty to restore also. The cabinet measures 25 1/2" wide at the top, 22" ... morewide at the body, has 6 shelves that are 18 1/2" by 2 1/2" deep, stands 23 1.2" tall, 5 1/2" deep at the top and 3 1/2" deep at the body. It weighs 14 3/4 lbs. The shelves are rounded to hold rounded items(like spools) and you can see that there's 7, a little over) 2" wide spaces on each shelf- you can see the wood is a little lighter between each one- they are not physically separated, the shelf is rounded and smooth all the way across. There are numbers, 1-6 stenciled in what looks like gold with a black rim, starting 1 at the back of the bottom shelf and going up to 6 at the back of the top shelf- I have no idea what they represented, and there's no other markings or identification on the piece. The cabinet is unfinised at the top- making it appear as if it attached to something from above, or possibly was built in? The bottom is finished, but you can also see the heads of the hardware attaching the sides, so I do believe it was not meant for display- the cabinet does stand well on its own as the bottom is flat. MUSEUM WORTHY Antique Oak Store Display Thread J.P. COATS SPOOL COTTON Roll-Top Sides 1864-5 This is an incredible store display dating to the Civil War era for J. P. Coats. My research indicates that displays were provided by the company free with the purchase of the spools. It is entirely made of oak and glass. With brass hinges on the doors and flaps, a huge, probably iron, screw on the bottom, and small metal nails. The view from the bottom shows dovetail fittings. It measures 22.5” tall, and is 16.25” by 21” at the base(including the decorative molding) Two opposite sides have“roll-top” type doors with wood knobs. They slide up and down smoothly. Both of these sides have decorative scrolls/ feathers impressed(carved? on each vertical edge(close up, photo 8) Both also have a large, gold-pained panel that has“J. P. Coats’ Spool Cotton. ... moreprinted in black, fancy letters. Below the roll-top door on one side is another gold-painted panel that reads“Black Nos. 8 to 60” in black letters. The other side has“White Nos. 8 to 60” in black letters on gold. The side for the white thread also has“Patent Applied For” printed across the top. Inside the roll-top doors are slanted displays for spools(see in photos 2 and 7) These are filled via two hinged flaps or doors on the top, shown in photos 5 and 6. You can see that the spool sizes have numbered slots on the top that correspond to the numbered bins on the sides. The other two sides have long wood dividers, each with a glass pane to cover the visible spools. Each of these sides has a gold-painted panel under the glass displays. On one side, J. P. Coats’ Spool Cotton No. 40” is printed in black letters; on the other side is“J. P. Coats’ Spool Cotton No. 50. It is in good original condition. The original brass and wood draw pulls are still attached and the lettering on the front and back is still quite bright and only shows minimal wear. Being sold as is as found. The cabinet is in need of some TLC. There are no breaks or cracks but clearly discolored marks and water stains on the top and the drawer joints/trim pieces are a bit loose and could use some reinforcement. Thanks for looking. This is a great antique thread display cabinet that is intact with three drawers. Beautiful finish. The front words between pulls are a little rough and last one seems to be missing. Drawers are all in tact and work very smooth when you open them. There is a hairline crack that starts on the top at one side but does not continue to the other side. It measures 17.5 x 17.75 x 11 inches. Antique American Sewing Co. Star Twist Sewing Spool Thread Mercantile Store Countertop Display Sales Cabinet This retail selling display fixture is in Very Good antique condition. This is an original finish simulated wood-grain metal 4 drawer glass front display cabinet for wooden spool mercerized sewing thread. It was manufactured by the American Thread Company All of the decals are still intact with good color. All 4 drawer handle pulls are firmly attached and in good condition. One of the glass panel drawer fronts is cracked. But is firmly held in place by the track(see close-up photo) No glass is missing and the cracked pieces could be glued together if you so choose. The thread drawer dividers created 10 separate rows to hold the spools. Many of the rows still have the thread number and color labels in place. Hello. My dogs don't go with the auction but they are available for stud service. LOL OK everyone knows what these are. How often do you see a pair of them though? AS FOUND. The condition of both are excellent and unmolested. Original finish to both, orig decals, glass, etc. All doors and tambors function perfectly and all are complete. These were pampered end tables for the last 50+ yrs, straight out of a residence, never been in an antique shop! Offered for free pickup near Cooperstown NY. I will quote for insured shipping on an individual basis at the buyers sole expense. Now the flaws: one small oak knob(pull) is missing. There is some candle wax(red) inside one cabinet top. Vintage Goff's Braids wood storage case. I believe this was a store display/sales case. Size about 17 x 17 1/2 x 7 1/2. Made of solid wood. It is heavy and weighs about 28 pounds. Has 2 drawers with finger joints. Drawers slide easily. Someone has added starafoam. Thick glass, and a wood reinforcement liner to the inside of the drawers so that they could display items in it(feathers) These are easily removed and did not effect the case's originality. Box is totally sound. I do not see any chips nor cracks. Only some very minor wear from age and handling. Overall it looks extremely nice. Please see all 12 photos for condition. Up for consideration today is an antique 2 drawer spool cabinet. For Clark's ONT thread. It has the original hanging brass ONT drawer pulls. There is a little bit of loss to the black lettering on the lower drawer(see picture) There are a few scratches on top of the unit and one small bump in the wood that is smooth and finished over(see pictures) Overall pretty nice condition for its age. The drawers are lined with black felt but its not glued down so its easily removed if you so desired. Nice well built solid piece of antique furniture. It measures 21-3/4" long 15-1/2 wide and 7" tall. Both drawers slide easily without sticking. Great for a jewelry box or return it to its original use and store your spools in it! There are some nicks to the veneer and a bit of shading differences as if something sat on top of this cabinet. There is wear where the drawers have been pulled in and out. It has metal posts to hold the thread and the front row is sectioned off from the rows behind. Three drawers hold about 576 total spools if my math is correct. Up for auction is an Antique 1850's-60's Spool and Thread 7 Drawer Store Display Cabinet All Original. The cabinet is 17.5" tall. 17 1/4" wide and 17" deep. The drawers are 15.5" long, 14 1/4" wide and 1" deep. The front of each drawer is glass with a metal pull. It is a 7 drawer cabinet but the bottom one is missing. The cabinet is in good condition. All of the glass fronts to the drawers are intact with no damage. The cabinet has a crack running across the top and a stain ring from what looks to be a cup. The stain is fading and has a crackling effect. The label on the back is missing but some of the lettering has transferred onto the wood. Not enough to make out anything. It is being sold as is. This vintage wooden piece has three drawers. The top drawer says"J and P Coats" and the middle drawer says"For Hand and Machine. The bottom drawer is too worn to read. The inside of the drawers are in excellent condition. The piece has a tin back that has a colorful picture of a spool of thread. Along with other writing. The top right knob is broken, which you can see in the pictures. There is also a piece of wood on the top right that has broken off, and this can also be seen in the pictures. This measures L24 X W16 X H9 1/2. Even though it shows a lot of wear, it is still a great piece.

This is a two piece spool cabinet. One consisting on the lower wider section with three drawers and the other piece consisting of the piece with six drawers sitting on it. it has beautiful carvings on the corners. The drawer pulls are made of porcelain. The cabinet is very heavy and solid. It is about 30 inches tall by 38 inches wide. And 19 inches deep. The piece that sits on top with the six drawers is 24 inches wide, by 2o inches tall by 18 inches deep. Lower piece is 38 by 19 by 10 inches and it has wheels. I have indicated in the listings that shipping costs are $125, but this is only an estimate. It might be more or it might be less depending on where you live. I will charge you for the exact shipping costs and not a cent less. Bear in mind that I will have to ship this piece in two different packages and that both packages will be in the 55 range. Nonotuck Silk Company Corticelli wood spool thread display case Northampton Ma
The Nonotuck Silk Company was in business from 1866 to 1932. Nonotuck is the Indian name for Northampton as in Northampton Ma. its original home. This case was loaned to retailers to sell and display Corticelli silk spools. The label on the back reads: Nonotuck Silk Co Spool Silk. This case is loaned for the display of Corticelli Silk and is it understood that it reverts to the Nonotuck Silk Company if used for any other purpose The wood case is in good condition for its age and measures 21 3/4 inches wide by 15 inches deep and 8 1/2 inches tall. Please look at all the pictures for visible flaws. Note the gear stain on the top. Some of the dividers in the drawers are missing but the drawers are original and pull in and out nicely. There are two small peg holes on the top rear of the case. The glass front on the top 2 drawer is 3/8 inch thick ... moreplate glass so you could see the spools without opening the drawer. This is a great find if you live in Northampton or collect beautiful old wood case or historic silk items or have a shop or business in a related industry. Shipping in the USA will be $40.

Antique Vintage Richardson Silk Cotton Thread Store Display Case Spool Cabinet
Antique spool display case from Richardson Silk. Appears to be oak with glass inserts on two of the three drawer fronts(the bottom panel is the company name in gold lettering) Very sturdy and square, glass is in great shape and secured by decorative metal brackets. The middle drawer ledge is a little chewed up, and the handle is missing; this could be repaired, although extra drawers for these cabinets do periodically show up on eBay, so you may wish to replace it with another antique drawer. Wear to the exterior of the cabinet(most likely from decades of use in a small retail setting: corner drugstore, mercantile, etc) but still in nice condition considering its age. All the various antique threads and sewing accessories shown in the drawers are included in this sale. Overall dimensions are 14-5/8" wide. 15-1/4" deep(not including ... morehandles) and 8-1/8" high. Will be carefully packaged in new materials for shipment. Use the cabinet to store your thread or use it as a display in your shop or home. This is a great piece at a fair price. Condition: This is a well-used item. There is significant scratching on each side. Typical of years of use. I imagine people put all sorts of items on the top as they waited to pay for their items. I lightly cleaned and polished the surface, so even though it is scratched, it still has a nice gleam and great charm. A great candidate for a restoration.
