ANTIQUE GRAND RAPIDS CLOTHING OAK SHOWCASE WITH ORIGINAL WAVY GLASS
This fabulous antique showcase was patented in 1905 by the Grand Rapids Showcase company. It is seriously constructed of oak and has the original wavy glass. The one pictured was part of a series of twelve matching cabinets that were connected side by side next to each other. Hence the sides are open since they are butted up to the side of the one next to it. The one in the first several pictures has the side panels. The rest are as the on in the last four pictures with no sides. Nice vintage oak paneling or glass can be added to the sides if you would like to use one as an individual unit. The glass door of each opens out and slides into the cabinet on the right hand side. Much like a folding door. The back of each cabinet is bead board with the original finish. There are two clothing racks in each of these cabinets. One at the top and one ... morehalf way up. Each of the racks is solid cast bronze with nickel plate. The rack slides out so you can see the blouses. Jackets or other items more readily. The cabinets need some restoration such as tightening up the joints and refinishing the wood. Victorian Style Oak Showcase by Wilmarth Showcase Co 1888 - 1925
Victorian style showcase. Circa 1888- 1925. Produced by Wilmarth Showcase Co. Grand Rapids, Michigan. Original early oak showcase 8 feet long by 42 inches high and 25 inches wide. This showcase is in excellent condition for its age and is as clean inside as it is outside. The two sections of glass on the top are original and the glass is beveled. These pieces of glass have some minor wear and some scratches. The rest of the glass has been replaced except for one large pane in the front. The case has not been re-finished. The showcase has eight(8) sliding doors in the rear of which four(4) are mirrored. There is one(1) shelf inside about in the middle of the entire length. This shelf is constructed of an oak frame and filled out with half inch slats. The shelf fits into a groove in the rear and then rests on brass brackets under the shelf ... moreon either side. In the middle of the shelf are two dehumidifiers which are easily accessible from the rear. The shelf and dehumidifiers are all original and in excellent shape. The showcase has a very large heavy oak base with large trim. The case has the original decal inside the case and original production ticket is under the case. The case has modern casters installed which can easily be removed as the case never had casters. Antique General Store Oak Showcase. Wavy Glass. George E. Allison, St. Louis
This six feet counter display case was used in the McReynolds Store in Quality. KY that closed its doors almost 40 years ago. The finish is not perfect. But excellent for its age. The stunning oak case is solid showing no repairs. A small triangular section of oak is missing from the frame of the back of one sliding door as shown in the photo. The showcase sports a brass manufacturing tag. Geo. E. Allison, St. Louis. It is 72 inches long. 28 inches wide, and 17.5 inches tall. The case has a blue oil cloth covering the interior base. The wavy glass is original and without cracks or breaks. The sliding doors with finger pulls have the original mirror showing some age flaws but no cracks or breaks. I am not sure of the age. This counter showcase was used in the McReynolds mercantile that closed decades ago in Quality. Ky. It is made of golden oak by the Joseph Knittel Showcase Co. Of Quincy. Illinois. A brass tag on the front base of the case touts the maker. The base and top appear to be pine. A stunning iron clasp secures the back door as shown in the photo. Dimensions are 35.25 inches tall. 20 inches deep, 24 inches wide. This case has not been repaired nor does it need any repair. Original wavy glass. Great condition for its age. Beautiful wood. This showcase comes from Quality. KY where it was used as a display case in the McReynolds mercantile decades ago. I am guessing its age to be pre-1900's. Its design is awesome with nickel plated supports at the corners and joints. It sports an identification tag reading. Nashville Showcase Co. Nashville, Tenn. This vintage display case is seven feet long or 84 inches. 28 inches deep, and 17 inches tall. The glass is all original telling the story of its use. The top left glass is dulled from items being dragged over its surface. The top right glass shows less wear. But has a crack in the corner. The right bottom glass is missing a triangular piece at the corner. Please view photos for these imperfections. The glass was secured by putty which has dried and begun to crack over the years. This is a BEAUTIFUL old oak country store showcase. This is in very nice condition and I believe it to be dated very early 1900’s. The beautiful oak is in fantastic condition. As is the glass. There is no back glass to this. I don’t know if there ever was. This was used for many many years as a showcase in the Tunnelton, WV country store. This is the real deal. Very nice golden Oak display case on legs with leveling feet. This showcase stands a total of 39 inches tall. The legs are 26 inches. The overall size of the display case is: 31 inches(front to back) and 49 inches wide. Inside, it is 27-1/2 inches front to back and 46-1/2 inches wide. The doors are glass sliding doors. The door side can be used as the front side or the back side. There is a decorative Oak skirt, between the legs, at the top of the leg base. The display case can be used with or without the base. 1900's Tobacco Cigar Antique Oak Display Showcase - Local Pickup Only
This is a hard to find. In this original nice looking condition. Please see ALL photos. Showcase is For Sale Locally also, so I reserve the right to end auction at any time, if it's no longer available. LOCAL PICKUP ONLY! From research I've done it's early 1900's oak showcase designed to display Tobacco/ Cigar products. Has removable slatted wooden shelves. Still has the pull out clean out or humidor holder that pulls out the back(see photo) made of tin. The top 2 doors have mirrors on the inside, the bottom 2 do not. One of the top doors has been restored. Brass label that reads Sun Manufacturing Company of Columbus, Ohio. The top glass has been replaced but the original beveled edge top glass will be included with sale, but it's has scratches on it. Doors slide smoothly and the finish is in good condition. Would look ... moregreat in a old store setting or can be used to display almost anything anywhere. The slatted wooden shelves could be removed and glass or other wood shelves mounted in their place.
