Antique Glass Cheese Preserver Canister, 1800's-1900's General Store-Kitchen
Excellent. Clean condition, no chips, cracks or rough spots on the base, and just a few expected tiny usage knicks on the bottom ridge of the top lid. The lid is marked with raised lettering, but it is faint. It reads"Sanitary Cheese Preserver, Remove Lid Daily, Directions: Place one third pint of vinegar and one tablespoon of salt in bottom, slightly dilute with water" The bottom of the canister has 1/2" raised glass bars to keep your cheese elevated above the preserving liquid. There are no dates on this particular jar. But I've had two others, almost identical, also called Sanitary Cheese Preservers or Keepers, and they were both dated 1895, so I'm assigning that general age to this piece. I'm told they were used in the old iceboxes in homes and as displays in small local general stores or mercantiles. The glass ... moreis thick, with some air bubbles within the walls, both on the lid and the bottom. The bottom jar measures 7 1/2" in diameter and is about 5 1/4" deep. With the lid and the knob it stands about 6 1/2" tall. There is a slight difference in the color of the glass.the lid has an amethyst cast and the bottom a greenish cast. This antique piece probably sat on top of a counter in a shop selling sewing goods. Size- 19 1/2" x 17 1/2" x 7" Top and bottom drawer read J. P. Coat Boilfast. The middle drawer has no writing and may have worn off. Wood shows wear and some staining. Middle drawer slides in a little further(must be missing stoppers in back) All in all. Antique Jewelry Store Display Cases Velvet Wood Barbola Framed Vintage 1900-1910
I cannot ship outside the U.S. I am listing several of these very old jewelry displays that I've collected over the years. I can just imagine the excitement walking up to a jewelry store window and seeing a beautiful necklace or pin displayed on these beautiful stands. I can combine shipping charges if you win more than one auction. These are from the early part of the 20th century. Some of them are missing their velvet insert but it wouldn't be too difficult to wrap and glue a small piece of velvet around a piece of cardboard and set it inside the ones that are missing theirs. The velvet inserts by the way that ARE included. Are stiff from age, but you could still pin a lovely brooch or earrings to the fabric. The color of the original velvet is a dark burgundy. This a very large substantial produce or product display for an antique store. General store, flower store or farmers market! It has a varsity of options in regards to configuration. Measures; 42" sq with all four leaves down. 66" sq with all four leaves up. Each of the 3 removable shelves are 11" deep and 40" long and about 3/4" thick. Stands about 29" tall to the top of the table and 47" tall with the top flipped up. The base lifts up and down with the aid of a metal bar that slips in to the frame. I believe it is oak. The legs certainly are and I'm pretty sure the slats and frame are too. There is some rust on the metal. A large amount of varnish has come off or is flaking off. Antique Primitive Store/Postal Counter c.1880 Presenting this beautiful solid mixed wood primitive country store/Post Office counter from an old country store in the valley of Virginia. This was used as the postal counter. There is a one large and sturdy drawer with the original pulls. It once held two drawers. The smaller one has been removed to allow for chair space. This is made mixed woods of oak. Maple, pine and poplar. The top is tongue and groove maple and the sides and back are beaded tongue and groove. The counter has been cut down fromits original size. It makes a great desk for tight spaces and also makes a fabulous statement as sofa table or entrance table. Maintains its original patina. Dates from the early 1880's. Antique large primitive store counter candy jar. It has a slant front and rounded back end. Sides. Top, and bottom have flat stops. It is 11" deep x 7-1/2" tall x 6" wide. It has many inperfections in the glass, ie, bubbles, wavy stops as old glass often has. It is a heavy thick glass. The rubber gasket to the lid is gone, if it ever had one. It is in very good antique condition no cracks, or chips that I could see, but there is some use rubbing and scratches which only add to its character. antique VT country store DYO-LA Dye CABINET Dual tin lithos AS FOUND w/contents
Here's a very rare find being an honest AS FOUND country store DYE display cabinet. Complete with it's 1920's vintage new old stock contents. It's just as it came out of the store here in Northern Vermont. This DYO-LA Dye was made in Burlington VT and came from the Scampy Dane Store in West Charleston Vermont where was on display there, or in storage there, for many decades until the store closed in the mid-1990's. The cabinet is made of solid hardwood and is cherry color and could be cherry wood. The ORIGINAL varnish finish shows some loss on the door stiles and sides but is definitely the original one. It measures about 11" by 16" and is 7.5" deep. This is a rare model having the tin lithograph panels on both the front and back of the cabinet. It sat on the store counter with the door towards the clerk ... moreand the customer could still see the panel on the front. The front panel in in better condition than the back panel. It shows a couple rust spots and limited paint loss. The front panel is about perfect. Both have bright vibrant colors. Inside the door is a big"SPECIAL NOTICE TO DEALER" card. The store this cabinet came from was a genuine time capsule that ran continuously with various owners from the 1890's until the death of Scampy Dane in the mid 1990's. This cabinet was part of that time capsule and it retains is full contents of various dyes. Included are about 24 little boxes of"Sunset Soap Dye" and about 20 envelopes of the original DYO-LA dyes. In a side compartment are the original dealers color cards, samples and advertising emphemera. It's kind of dirty and dusty, just as it came from the store and in storage since. A good cleaning will make the whole thing better I'm sure. The display cabinet is in EXCELLENT condition and would be tough to find a better example. $30.00 SHIPPING IN A BOX. The 2 sides each have 2 panels of glass. So there is glass all around! The case measures 38 inches tall. 29 inches wide and 11 inches deep. The old finish is original. The knobs are all original. As I mentioned. One of the little"stops" is missing for one of the doors. It is still working ok with one stop. The case is dusty inside. I wiped it off somewhat on the outside. RARE Antique Utilitee Super Lisle Web Ribbon Store Display Box Reverse Painted
I bought this display box in 1969 when the old J.C. Penney building in downtown Jefferson City. Missouri was going out of business to move into a newer building. The old building had the wooden floors and the vacuum tubes that sent payments to the upstairs main office to be processed. I have moved this box with me over the years and have only used it for display because it is an amazing piece of memorabilia. Now we are downsizing and I'm going to let this go. The box measures 7 3/4" tall. By 15 1/2" wide, and 6 1/4" deep. The inside contains slots that held spools of elastic and ribbon for display in the store. The lid is reverse painted with the Utilitee Super Lisle Web advertising. Over all the box is in great condition for its age. The left side under the lid, one of the screws has come loose, as shown in the photo. ... moreThat is the only flaw with this case. The glass does need cleaning for displaying. It does have the original hardware and porcelain knob. I think the pictures tell the story. In the 90s I took this to be appraised. The appraiser told me that it was more rare than any Coates and Clark box or spool cabinet that he had ever seen. He was unable to find one like it. And would not appraise it. The 2 sliding mirrored glass doors in the back have a really cool distressed patina. the showcase was made by the Houston showcase mfg corp and it is stamped on the underside. the glass has a wavy effect to it. Antique Victorian Era Country Store Wall of Shelves(circa 1915) 16 Feet of Heart Pine Shelving with notched upright standards for adjusting shelves. There are actually 25 shelves. One is not placed in photo but is available. 24 have their little rounded end holders to hold them. You are buying just the shelving and upright standards. The beaded board behind them is the actual store wall which is not included. This 16 foot unit is held to the wall with 5"L" brackets attached to top shelf and to wall. Unit is 13" deep. Here is a giant antique general store Ice Box. If your recreating an old fashion general store. This is a must because you will probably never find another one like it. Im told that this dates back to the 1870's or 1880's. This case needs to be restored. It is extremely heavy. The top half lifts off the bottom. Measures 7' 7-1/2" long X 27 deep(not inclusing the handles) at the bottom, 32-1/2 deep at the top X 8' 2" tall. The left side of the upper crown molding has a piece missing as shown. Some of the doors open hard. The right door is missing the outer pane of glass, but the inner one is still there. Its only 1/8" window glass so its cheap to replace. There are some adjustable shelves inside. This case needs to be stripped& repainted or stained. The sides have strips of wood running vertically, some of which need to be replaced. 1 lower door handle is bent& needs to be repaired. The price tag sign boards are still across the top which adds alot of character to this cabinet. Needs a complete restoration. Sold

The 8 1/2" x 44" glass front panels are missing- other side and top panels are included and are removable- 1/4" thickness. Has track for sliding doors- doors not available. Has a thin coat of black paint. Stands 42" tall- long part of"L" is 8' short part is 4' 20" wide- shelves are 16" wide. The kick plate on the long end is split and needs re-attached. I have an awesome Sterns Braid cabinet with legs. I'm assuming the legs were added at some point. This is how it was when I purchased it. Would make a great side table or use for storage in your sewing room. About 20" tall, overall good condition, I noticed some dings from sitting in the shop on the top. The other mirrors are aged& have streaks in them so if your real particular you may want to replace the mirrors. The glass across the top has normal wear for its age. This case assembled is 12' 10" 155 inches) long 40-3/4 tall and 21-5/8" at the base& 15" deep at the top. There is a full glass shelf for 1 half& a half glass shelf for the other side. Measures 92-1/8" long X 41-7/8" tall X 27-5/8' wide. This case needs all the glass replaced. Fortunately it was all 1/8" glass which is reasonably inexpensive. But is also probably the reason its broken. It would probably be smart to replace it with plexiglass beings its so thin. The case is a little wobbly because the side windows are gone. It has 4 sliding doors in the back. 1 is cleaner than the others and has been changed. Very heavy wood base. This case has 2 wooden shelves. Again,this case needs restoration including glass.
