Antique 1800's Cast Iron Horse Buggy Whip Holder Display Rack
This is an antique cast iron whip holder that would have been used in a general store in the mid to late 1800's to display whips for sale. This piece measures approximately 11 1/2" in diameter. It's old. Rusty and dusty and completely original. There have been no repairs or modifications made to the piece. There are no dates or makers marks on the piece. Many times these are found missing the nuts and bolts that hold it together or the chains have been broken. Not on this one. She's beautiful. This whip holder was recovered from an estate in southern Ohio. This would be a nice display piece as is or could also be re-purposed in many ways. Antique Cast Iron Buggy Whip Holder- General Store Display Rack You are bidding on an antique cast iron Buggy Whip Holder. The holder was used in the general store for displaying various buggy whip maker's samples. The rack was hung from the ceiling and the whips were placed in the loops. Prior to 1910 if one walked into any general or hardware store in North America. These devices would have occupied a place alongside harnesses and other necessary daily tools marketed for use with the horse-drawn vehicle. Because of the rising popularity of the automobile after 1910, most stores no longer needed these display racks which catered to the horse and buggy market and they fell out of favor. You know how sellers love to use"rare" in their descriptions and it's seldom the case? WELL. THAT IS TRULY THE CASE HERE! Finding another, especially in this remarkable condition in SOLID COPPER with Brass fittings would truly be a rare experience. This is another in the group of Antique display pieces, racks and cases, that I'm selling, one by one, that I used in my 25 years as an Antique Textile dealer. I've sold two other copper and brass racks of this type on eBay, a small one, and a medium one. By far, this is the piece de' résistance! Antique Vintage Steel Wire News Rack 36" Tall Store Bakery Display 4 Shelves
A very nice piece this is an antique steel wire rack with rusty patina that has four shelves and looks like it was a store newspaper display or bakery rack. Has cool triangular feet and it does not fold up or break down flat. It is a solid welded unit. It stands in at 36" tall, around 17" wide and a little over 11" deep. Has a curved piece of metal on the top, it may of held a coin tube at one time? I have no idea but this is a neat piece with no breaks and can be used as is or painted to match your decor. Old Primitive Vintage Wire Folding Store Display Rack Perfect Storage Rack For U So. I went to the auction of a lifetime this past weekend. A storage barn of an antiques dealer that passed about 10 years ago. She specialized in early primitives and American folk art and boy-oh-boy you do not want to miss this week. I took photos of the items that I bought for one full day, and still am not finished– but decided to go ahead and list what I have– enjoy! This one is awesome! It's an older vintage. If not antique, folding wire store display bin- it works for me because I can fold it almost flat for shipping, and, for you because it would make a fabulous storage or display bin- from pantry to laundry to linens to crafts- the possibilities are limited to your imagination! The wire is a combination of galvanized steel and non-galvanized. The ... moremain frame that you see on the perimeter of the piece being the non-galvanized- it has a wonderful rusty age darkened patina. The works great against the dark grey of the steel- this one has the LOOK! When set up(which it's really easy to do) it measures 15 3/4" wide and 30 1/4" tall to the top of the frame. There are 3 bins when set up- the top two are open shelves that angle back to hold the items in. The bottom one has a flat wire bottom(it's the base of the piece) and a front wall that measures 8" tall. So, this is a deep box shaped bin here at the bottom, with the wall to keep the itmes in. The angled shelves on top measure 14 3/4" wide by 12 1/4" deep. The box/bin at the bottom measures 14 3/4" wide by 10 7/8' deep- all measuring on the inside of the walls for your space. The top angled shelf is open- nothing above it, then there's 9 3/4" between the second shelf and the top shelf(that's what I'm showing in photo 21) and 5 3/4" space between the second shelf and the top of the wall of the bin at the bottom- that's what I'm showing in photo 20. Up for auction is a neat Rockford work socks wire rack display with a nice double sided tin sign. The whole display is 16 1/2" long and 19" tall to the top of the sign. The tin sign itself measures 8 3/4" x 12 1/2" It is in overall nice shape but does have minor scuffs. Light scratches, etc. A nice patina from age. The wire rack is blue to match the tin sign but does have various small spots of paint loss and light rust evident. The front 2 rubber bolt covers(feet) are missing from the wire display but the back 2 are there. It stands just fine but could scratch a surface until 2 new rubber covers are in place.
