Antique Table Top General Store Counter Display Cabinet Mercantile
This auction is for an antique table-top counter display cabinet/cupboard. This was obtained from the estate of an elderly gentleman whose family owned a mercantile general store back in the early 1900's. This little gem would have held some type of product and been on the counter by the cash register. This cabinet has walnut wood and glass on all four sides and a silver closing latch and brackets on the front. The cabinet has metal dividers inside which leads me to believe that there were shelves at one time. These could be easily be replaced with clear glass. Your looking at a very rare antique general store counter display. It's a cabinet drawer for Tico Forms. Tico made large letter stamps. Has great logos and design that is on the drawer and rear of cabinet. Great joints on cabinet. The separators in the drawer are also wood. 24" x 20 1/2" x 6 1/2" There is a crack across the top and part of the bottom. Cabinet is still sturdy and strong. Could easily be repaired. Found in an old grocery store building in Western Ohio. here is a spectacular 1900-era Antique Country Store Mercantile DISPLAY CASE. Approximately 6ft long, 12in high and about 12in deep(these are approximate) Ball bearing, sliding glass doors on rear side work smooth ever. Glass panes are original antique wavy glass in the doors and other sides, no cracks or chips to any glass. The topside glass was replaced in the 1950's. This is a wonderful piece that simply needs a quick dusting and glass wipes. Looks to be oak frame with antique pine in the bottom. LOCAL PICK UP in Bloomington Indiana. no shipping. 176 Antique mercantile store price tags These vintage price tags came from an old Mom and Pop store in a small town where I grew up. The name of the store was"Kraighers" and it was in New Douglas. IL. As a well known local picker and friend of the Kraigher family, I was invited over to the store(years after it closed) to look around and buy a few things if I found anything worthy. I bought this book of price tags and several other items, some of which I will list or have already listed. This lot does not contain the green label book pictured. The book is where these price tags are coming from. Each tag is roughly one inch tall and three inches wide. There are 176 of tags in this lot. I have removed four of each tag in the book and put them all in a lot together for bidding. I will list several other lots this way. Each lot will ... morebe just like the ones pictured. These are reusable old mercantile price tags with a cardboard design, with perforations for each tag. When was the last time you saw a price tag for 13 cents? I'm not able to take enough photos in proper lighting to portray it properly. and how well it can showcase the hats you're selling or displaying. The perfect counter or table top display for hats. This is another antique display item I'm offering on eBay from my long"career" selling Antique Textiles at Antique Shows on a Texas"circuit" from the mid 1980's through 2002. This display piece featured with my latest hat"goodies. The deep wine was a perfect background to show off the latest best hats I had to feature. This was part of a fantastic buy I made of old stock and display pieces out of a closed up Mercantile West of Fort Worth. The store opened in the hey day of the Texas cattle barons who operated free range cattle ranches in the ... moreperiod between the end of the Civil War and 1910. The store closed in the 1920's but was never emptied by the family who founded the emporium. This Display Piece. As photographed, is exactly the way I purchased it, irregularities, flaws and all. Basic construction is wrought iron with antique woven jacquard fabric covering the wooden pads. The fabric has accumulated Texas dust from 10 years in a barn but has NO flaws, discolored areas, cuts, tears or holes. Its condition indicates use, but is in excellent condition for age. This hat display is exactly as when I purchased the item. Except for the dust! I was informed that a member of the family that owned the old store, changed the surface color of the iron stand from black to gold in the 1950's but didn't use it and put it back in the store building. It's possible that she made changes to the round hat holders then but I have no way of knowing. I'm the type that just leaves Antique items as I find them, no applying new materials or updates. The paint/patina is fantastic on this piece, and it will be even better when I clean the grime off it. The pictures don't do the patina justice. The piece is solid and heavy. The top of the counter is well worn with tool marks. As you can imagine with a piece this old and with its previous life, this counter has dings, scratches, cracks worn surfaces and pint loss. At its widest dimensions this measures about 7-3/4” wide. 8-5/8” deep and stands 9” high. Originally a brick red with gold and black detailing. It has darkened considerably and as I'm not expert on the paint or proper cleaning to restore this, I leave that to anyone who may feel a need. The flash ... moreof my camera has lightened the color somewhat but you can see the detail of the designs. Gold floral tole painting runs down either side of the face while“Ginger” is in gold across the rounded facial center. Shaded with black and accented with design above and below. Pinstriping runs around the edges of the sloped face and the lid has a solid linear border with a delicate design along the inside of the border. From my research, the artwork suggests this dates around late 1800's/early 1900's. As you can see in the photos. There is a dent that runs diagonally across the lid and the left edge of the lid is bent under. Paint along the lower portion of the lid has worn away and it's a little rough. There is also dents to the lower portion of the rounded front face, the back left edge, and some indented dings to the back side. The sides of the back and front left are a bit bowed in from top to bottom. You can also see that there are some red paint spots on the top. Scratches and scuffs and paint loss in many areas of the surface. The lid is a bit warped due to the dent but still opens and closes fine and easily with its small wooden knob. This is an original finish simulated wood-grain metal 4 drawer glass front display cabinet for wooden spool mercerized sewing thread. It was manufactured by the American Thread Company All of the decals are still intact with good color. All 4 drawer handle pulls are firmly attached and in good condition. One of the glass panel drawer fronts is cracked. But is firmly held in place by the track(see close-up photo) No glass is missing and the cracked pieces could be glued together if you so choose. The thread drawer dividers created 10 separate rows to hold the spools. Many of the rows still have the thread number and color labels in place. N. Monroe, J. H. Elson, and others as Monroe Drug Co. in 1891. Our wood case dye cabinet was intended for counter top mercantile store display.the interior may have had a tiered shelf for the dye boxes.dye color tabs are still in place indicating the basic colors of Sky Blue, Purple, Pink, TURKEY Red, Green and Dark Blue. Mercantile store stepback cupboard with sliding glass doors
For sale is a fantastic old mercantile store cupboard. It has 2 sliding glass doors at the top and 3 wood panel sliding doors at the bottom. One of the glasses in the door at the top has a crack in it. I believe the wood in the cupboard is oak or that is what the back of the bottom doors looks like. I believe this was a built in piece. It has been painted brown. The back appears to be a heavy cardboard. I believe when this piece was removed from the wall the back was replaced. This piece measures 96 1/2" high. 49" wide, 10 3/4" deep at the top and 15 1/2" deep at the bottom. This was obtained from a private individual. He stated his family had a mercantile store in a rural Alabama town and he had gotten it from his mother when the store closed. I believe this pieced to date early 1900's. This is a pickup piece. 6' Antique 8 Door Oak Wavy Glass Dry Goods Mercantile General Store Display Case
Photos should tell all. 8 glass top-opening display drawers and two drawers at the bottom. this stands about 70" high. Is 4' wide and about 30" front to back. as mentioned, it has eight(8) wavy glass"lift" doors and in each is a drawer that can be brought forward to store& retrieve dry goods. at the bottom are two closed drawers which glide easily. This is one piece overall. It has no damage and there is one pull(at the lower right hand side) which is gone. The glass is really neat as it has the old"pocks" and dimples and waves one would expect from a piece this age. It has a nice finished plywood back. Local pick-up only- this is at a store where we have rented space to display quilts etc. so pick-up will be easy as the piece is close to the front door and the loading zone is right in front also.

While selling at an Antique Show at Fair Park in Dallas, I was approached by a customer asking if I'd be interested in buying remaining inventory and display pieces from a closed Mercantile west of Fort Worth. The store was opened in the days of the cattle barons in North and West Texas following the Civil War. It's the dream of antiques dealers everywhere to have this opportunity. THIS CHARMING SHOE DISPLAY STAND TURNED OUT TO BE PART OF THAT OPPORTUNITY. The store closed before WWII, the accumulation of display pieces dated from the start date to the 1930's. This 1890 to 1905 stand is utilitarian yet lovely in its way, used in the day when EVERYONE BASICALLY WORE ONE IMPORTANT PAIR OF SHOES AT A TIME!Authentic. This is amazing, I used at nearly every show for over 15 years and careful treatment has preserved it for a new owner.
