This piece was put in the store when it was opened in 1931 but no one is sure if i's ... moreolder or was made for the store. I would think it's older because of how scarce Chestnut was at that time. For anyone that doesn't know American Chestnut is considered extinct. They were killed in the first quarter of the cenury by an oriental blight that it had no resistance to. When they say extinct for a plant. There are still a few Chestnut trees but in such small quantities. This glass door cabinet is:15 1/2" wide X 13 1/2" deep X 65" tall. I'm also listing 3 other taller Chestnut displays from this store in the 7' And 8' tall. I can ship 2. 3 or 4 of these pieces almost as cheap as 1 piece. Check out my! Antique Solid Curved Glass Display Counter with rear sliding doors "1880's
Very old from information that I have gathered it is from the 1880's. In the day. This was a looker. Remarkable shape for it's age. Grandpa's country store is gone and this is for sale. Has been in storage for over 30 years. The top is a solid(one piece) glass that measures 98 1/4" long and 22" wide. The front piece of glass measures the same length as the top however, it is curved. Counter stands 40" tall. Inside is a shelf that measures 12" wide and is made up of 4 pieces on an adjustable shelving bracket. In the front is one piece of curved glass. In the back are four wooden sliding doors that are 2' wide and 19" tall with finger holes. One of these doors is missing a board about 19" in height. Under the sliding doors to the right are two drawers that measure 23 1/4" wide and about 3 5/8" ... moredeep. To the left of the two drawers is a opening that is 63" long, 16" deep and 7 1/2" in height. The glass shows wear scratches, but no breakage in the glass. On the bottom under the curved part to the back corner shows some slight damage but it is mostly to the bottom edging. As far as the wood is concerned I think that it is Mahogany, but I am not positive. It could be cherry. Items inside case do not sell. LOCAL PICKUP ONLY. Please view all photos. Vintage General Store Oak Display Cabinet / Case With Sliding Rear Doors
For sale is an antique oak and glass display case or cabinet. It is the type that would have been used in a general store or other store to display goods for sale. It could be used as the same. For an antique booth or just to keep and display your collectables. The case is made of an oak frame with glass. The top is two sections have removable glass. Front and sides are non-removable glass, the bottom is wood. There is a middle shelf that currently has like a heavy wood lattice with two separate pieces of glass on top of the wood lattice. The lattice could be removed and just glass used but some minor supporting may have to be inserted or the middle shelf could be completely removed for displaying larger or tall objects. There are sliding wood doors on the back, sections can be opened from right or left, the top doors are mirrored on the ... moreinside, the bottom doors are not mirrored and are just solid wood. Very nice golden Oak display case on legs with leveling feet. This showcase stands a total of 39 inches tall. The legs are 26 inches. The overall size of the display case is: 31 inches(front to back) and 49 inches wide. Inside, it is 27-1/2 inches front to back and 46-1/2 inches wide. The doors are glass sliding doors. Mercantile store stepback cupboard with sliding glass doors
For sale is a fantastic old mercantile store cupboard. It has 2 sliding glass doors at the top and 3 wood panel sliding doors at the bottom. One of the glasses in the door at the top has a crack in it. I believe the wood in the cupboard is oak or that is what the back of the bottom doors looks like. I believe this was a built in piece. It has been painted brown. The back appears to be a heavy cardboard. I believe when this piece was removed from the wall the back was replaced. This piece measures 96 1/2" high. 49" wide, 10 3/4" deep at the top and 15 1/2" deep at the bottom. This was obtained from a private individual. He stated his family had a mercantile store in a rural Alabama town and he had gotten it from his mother when the store closed. I believe this pieced to date early 1900's. This is a pickup piece. Antique Mahogany display case with sliding doors. This case has a light in the top and bottom sections and has a glass shelf between the upper and lower sections. The upper and lower sections both have locks if you wanted to display something and keep it safe. This piece came out of the R. Mansfeld& Sons company in Lousiville. KY.
