He apprenticed as a sheet metal worker and practiced his trade in London and New Brunswick before arriving in Boston in 1866. In 1878. He began business under his own name. The firm became Peter Gray& Sons in 1900 when his sons George M. Gray and Mason H. Gray became members of the firm. Antique large primitive store counter candy jar. It has a slant front and rounded back end. Sides. Top, and bottom have flat stops. It is 11" deep x 7-1/2" tall x 6" wide. It has many inperfections in the glass, ie, bubbles, wavy stops as old glass often has. It is a heavy thick glass. The rubber gasket to the lid is gone, if it ever had one. It is in very good antique condition no cracks, or chips that I could see, but there is some use rubbing and scratches which only add to its character. 1940's/50's Whitman Chocolate G.E. Candy Merchandiser!! RARE!!!!
For your consideration is my favorite storage locker find of all time. I'm not sure on the year but it's believed to be from the 1940's/1950's. A Whitman refrigerated chocolate General Electric candy merchandiser. Imagine my surprise as I uncovered the jewel of a machine after purchasing a storage locker. From what I have been able to learn this machine was in a drug store that was in business from around the 1930's thru the late 1960's. Furthermore when I plugged the unit in it WORKED! It blows cool air up into the lighted display area and the lights located behind the"refrigerated fresh chocolate" sign also works. It has a pair of doors on the front, the kind you would find in a walk in cooler. This machine is very sturdy and heavy. It seems to have a lot of brass or copper trim on it, picture#7 is where ... moreI cleaned an area on the upper trim. It measures 72 long, 30 wide and 65 tall. It is a eye catcher that's for sure. It seems to be missing a couple racks that slid in behind each door on the front and a sliding glass and possible glass racks on the front. I have not been able to find another anywhere. I had a man that restores mainly Coca-Cola machines look at it and he said that he never has came across one. He also appraised for around $2000. If your looking for a rare, great piece here it is. Very nice thick and heavy old tempered glass countertop display case for pie. Pastry, candies etc. It is in strong, tight good condition with some picking or specking on the chrome and it came clear up with steel wool and I will check. but the chrome is still shiny and looks pretty good. As mentioned above, it measures 37-1/2" in length, 10" front to back and 5" high. This is heavy so will take careful packaging and a large box.

Beechnut Candy Store Display Box U.S.S. Constitution- Old Ironsides" The images show all six sides. the rear side has the most missing paint presumably because of being pushed back against something. It is important to note that there are no dents in the whole piece. Only worn paint and scratches and stains. The outside finish and images are a little bit rough on this piece but they are still clear and unique and interesting. The inside is very good condition gold paint or plating of some kind. With minor scratches and a one and one half inch scratch on the right inside bottom. The outside bottom is in very good condition with a sprinkle of minor pitting of the finish.

Up for Auction is a Absolutely beautiful Clear Sparkling Diamond shape design jar. I'm not sure of the history of this. But what i do know is it is very old and gorgeous! when the sunlight shines on it its breath taking. Although the lid has some ware places from age and use it is still hanging in there. It is all original and a very Rare find. I haven't seen another one like this.very few small! flea bites on the rim of the glass but to be expected on a vintage glass jar as this. Measurements are from top to bottom 9 inches tall and from side to side 6 inches wide the opening of the jar is around 4 inches. Remember this is vintage and is not going to be perfect but as far as this jar you will not be disappointed at the Palestine shape this again the lid does show ware. Each with a wooden lid. The entire piece together measures 17-1/4” long at the base, 9-1/2 deep(at base) and about 9-1/4” high. Each candy jar measures 4” wide across the face(about 4-1/2” wide across the lid) 8-1/2” deep from bottom of opening rim to back corner, about 7-1/2” high from base to top rim of opening. The jars only fit into the display one way. Each jar has the same rough area on one side of the rim's lip. The glass ... morehas bubbles. Bumps, drip marks- all original to the making in the old style. There are no cracks or chips. The lids are wood with attached wooden knobs. One lid has shiner spots where a knot is but it isn't oily. One lid does not have the slightly raised portion on top. Or routed edge, the other two do but other than that they look the same. The edges are a bit rough and the finish is worn in areas. There is a stamped copper decoration attached across the front of the display with silver staples. This has discolored over time and I've left it alone should you desire to keep the old style look or decide to polish it. There is obvious wear along the front top edge of the display. Along the top left half edge of the routed base, the left top corner and both of the base front corners. Other areas of wear to the finish show here and there but primarily to the face of the display. The bottom of the display is marked, PFALTZGRAFF U.S.A. The camera flash shows splatters to the left side which should wash away. This is a very solid piece. Jars are shiny. No mineral lines or spots. RARE Antique General Store Oak Candy Display Case w/Penny Candy Tin Trays
This is an opportunity to purchase a rare general store candy display case with the original tin pans for penny candy. This is from a corner grocery store in Michigan City. Indiana. In the 1950's and 1960's, I used to ride my bike to this store to buy penny candy(by then it was 2 cents a piece) and candy bars out of this case. When the owners retired and closed the store in 1976, I purchased the case for sentimental reasons and have used it to display my collection of popcorn boxes. I had always intended to strip the green paint off as it is oak underneath(see photos of the inside of case) But the paint had the wear of a thousand children hands as they went behind the counter. The glass for the front and sides got broken in a move so it would need to be replaced. The doors still have the original wavy glass. The doors need new track ... moreto slide on as the store owner had replaced it with plastic track which is worn. There are three removable wood grained metal shelves, one 12 inches wide, one 10 inches wide and one 8.5 inches wide where they displayed the candy bars, gum, cough drops and other items. There are 5 long tins trays measuring 5.5 inches wide by 19.5 inches long and 4 shorter tin trays measuring 5.5 inches wide by 16 inches long for the penny candy and the tins are in good condition. The whole case measures 58 inches wide by 48 inches high with a depth of 24 inches at the bottom slanting back to 12 inches at the top. The doors are 28 inches wide by 39 inches high(they overlap on two different tracks) I am reluctantly letting this go as we are downsizing and don't have the room for it.

Vintage Ferrara Pan Chicago Jaw Breakers Candy Jar Candy Canister Country Store We went down South to central Illinois for a large antique flea market recently– it’s always packed with primitive antiques. Farm finds and unique items– I think you are going to like what you see! Here's a nifty one for you! It's an original. Country store used candy container. Marked on the top by the maker, the Ferrara Pan Company which is in Chicago, it also has a paper label on both sides for what it once held- Jaw Breakers, which were 5 cents a piece. The labels have held up very well because they are actually stuck on from the inside of the jar- not the outiside, so they have been protected well, they show dirt and darkening, but are in overall good condition with only some very minor wear on the edges, but not peeling off etc- they are well attached. ... moreThis is a hard clear plastic container- it's not glass, and it has its original lid with the pull handle on the front. It's a really nice size- and totally still usable today. It measures 7" widest at the front center, 9 1/4" deep from the front to the back, and 9" tall. The lid mouth at the front is 5 3/4" widest and 3 3/4" tall. It weighs 1 3/4 lbs. It's in excellent solid and sturdy condition strucutrally, with loooooots of wear to the outside of the plastic- lots of scratches and scrapes from use over the years, please see my photos, and it's really dirty- inside and out, and needs a good cleaning- I do not clean or mess with as found patina in any way. Don't let the scratching sway you, though, they are light, and there's no cracks or chips- fill it up, and it will display well for you- and the scratching is just part of its story- this is a vintage piece.
