Beautiful early 1900"s Lawyers barrister bookcase. Come apart into 7 sections. This bookcase is 73 1/2 inches tall. 34 inches wide and 11 1/2 inches deep. It has lovely tiger quartersawn oak grain with a waterfall contour top and base. All antique wavy glass and all brass knobs and straps. All doors have hardware and open with ease. Up for auction is a rare 3/4 size mahogany Macey mission-style bookcase section with matching mission-style top. Original glass and hardware. Original finish has the alligator-skin texture to it. The section also has the original Macey label inside it. The top is solid and retains the original brass arm on the back that enabled this bookcase to"attach" to the one next to it. This Macey tiger quartered oak doublewide(barrister) 5-stack bookcase with wooden panes(panels) is a fantastic piece. In great working order; all door mechanics functioning. Ca 1900-1920. Stamped Macey(Fred Macey Mfg Co) Very good to excellent overall condition nicely aged patina inside and out early dark finish and door glass looks to be all original. The close up photos provide extent of wear. But the four photos from 3 to 6 feet of the entire piece and both sides give an idea of the overall appeal. Two small bottom door knobs not original. Top has scratches/scuffs. The bottom legs have dings and normal wear to the finish. Rockwell-Wabash Barrister Bookcase Section Very nice find. Rockwell-Wabash stuff never shows up. Measures out the same as an"E" size Globe Wernicke or Macey. Original finish. Has the step back board, compatible with"E" or"D" size stacks. Quarter sawn oak. Uses a hinge/slide system nearly identical to the early Globe system. NO door knob or glass. With a few bottom parts this would drop right onto a Globe or Macey base. As you can see in the last picture a Globe top(or section) fits nicely on top. The Globe top in the picture is NOT included. The bottom board has been broken then nailed back on backwards, it looks bad like it is but simply needs to be flipped and glued. Inside is great orginial finish, Outside was stripped, sanded, stained, 3 coats of spray poly, sanded with 400 grit and waxed. This is a fine furnture grade mahogany bookcase. Protrudes 9/16 and the steel lag extends +/= 1/2" Condition: Nice. Has not been cleaned or polished. The mounting lag may be a little bent. See pictures.
