He's professional and along that route every two weeks or so. Cost would be approx $100. Thanks! Constructed of southern US walnut with secondary woods of poplar and yellow pine. There is very little metal on this piece and what is there is confined to square nails which points to the piece as having been made in the country(we believe upper middle South Carolina perhaps western North Carolina) Pulls are wood and held in place with one square nail each with the exception of one pull which is wedged in place with a shim of wood. Had the cabinet maker been closer to town he would likely have purchased brass pulls. The drawers are tight with interiors painted with yellow buttermilk ... morepaint. Top has becomed stained over the years. Joints about the cabinet are a little loose but could be easily tightened with the appropriate glue which I may do. Time permitting. Chest measures 43 inches tall x 41.5 inches wide x 19 1/8 deep. Finish is original. Piece was acquired at an estate sale a little west of Fayetteville. NC. Round figured knobs appear to be original. Drawers have hand-cut lap dovetails and cockbeading of the type brought into use starting in the 1770s. Overall condition is excellent. There is a chip approximately 1" long from the veneer along the front right edge. Which no doubt can be easily repaired by a professional. Overall condition of the veneer is excellent, but there is some buckling on the left side of the piece, consistent with its age. Offered for auction is this very nice circa 1870's-1880's AestheticWalnut Victorian chest of drawers. The chest is a very nice small size. 38" t x 30" w x 19" d. It has 5 graduated drawers and under the top drawer is a pull out flat shelf for writing or folding clothes(see pic 4) The front stiles have nice Aesthetic carvings at the top and the sides are recessed rectangular panels surrounded by molding. Plinth base and raised on casters. The stamped brass bail handles and backplates have a wonderful scenic design. The top has been used a lot so will need to be cleaned up and maybe even refinished due to all the scraping and scratches. But still is useable and functional. Scratches, dings, etc consistent with age and use.

It's from Italy and it dates to the late 1800's. The carvings on this piece are exceptional and the warm walnut color very nice! The black marble top with gold veining is a beautiful and practical highlight. The drawers all open and close smoothly. This commode is in very good antique condition with no damage except for the usual minor chips. Scratches and discolorations that come from 100+ years of gentle use. French Louis XVI Style Marquetry Inlaid Demilune Marble Topped Commode Early 20th Century Item# 130008LWP26 Simply gorgeous and perfectly preserved in every way. This fine French Louis XVI Style Commode is simply above reproach. At least a century after being crafted entirely by hand, the commode remains in nearly identical condition to when it left the shop. Clearly maintained in a home that cared for it and kept humidity at a stable level throughout it's life, the piece does not display the typical issues commonly associated with these heavily inlaid works of art. The mixed stone brèche d'Alep top is a wonderful variated surface. Full of color and activity, completed with a thin molded channel around the edge of the demilune form. The facade is a mix of five drawers and two cabinet doors; the top drawer is broad with crossbanded ... moreveneers framed in olivewood stringer inlay. It rests over a pair of drawers with a continuous inlaid image of a vase overflowing with flowers and foliage, hanging from a bow-tied ribbon draped on the keyhole escutcheon over a cross banded ground and framed in the same stepped rectangular olivewood stringer inlay that completes each drawer and door. The inlay is incredible intricate. And remarkably there is no peeling or lifting along the edges of this veneer, as typically happens when the piece is stored in an environment with poorly controlled temperature and humidity. On either side of the cabinet, small drawers swing outwards over the cabinet doors, these hand dovetailed at the back of each. The cabinet space is divided with a single shelf. The entire commode rests over turned and tapered legs that are topped and terminated in brass mounts. This is an outstanding find for any collector of French Louis XV and XVI antique furniture. Specifically if you seek out utmost quality in your furnishings. This state of preservation is difficult to find and is highly desirable by collectors and decorators alike. Spectacular"Highly Figured Solid Maple" Chest of Drawers Circa 1895 I fully restored this lovely piece.It features incredible"highly figured" solid maple with Birdseye maple veneers on the oxbow top drawer fronts. All of the brass hardware. Including the key hole covers are original.As you can see the hardware is the icing on this cake! The original drawer locks are all in place and in excellent working order using the beautiful key I had made. The top of the dresser has incredible patina and some of the finest grain figuring you will see.The top is first class all the way. All drawers were totally rebuilt and slide like silk. The drawers feature the highly sought after dovetail joinery. I restored the finish all by hand using a custom rich stain to achieve the highlighted rich burgundy followed by many. Many coats of ... morehand rubbed varnish.When you rub your hands over the finish you will feel the superb depth and notice the beauty of the amazing maple grains. This is a"bonnet top" dresser meaning the top two drawers protrude and overhand the lower level drawers. The sides have great architectural design with the paneled construction. Like any fine antique. This piece has minor imperfections and character marks in the wood. The posts which hold the drawer handle in place are brass plated steel, some of the plating has worn off after 135 plus years. The photos show casters in the legs. They will not be included.I find they tend to split the legs.There is a knot depression on the upper left side(see photo) I think it adds character and figuring just like the top of the dresser. Early American Antique Dresser Chest Drawers Country Colonial Furniture 1875
An American made classic. beautiful solid cherry wood chest of drawers.this dates from Circa 1875 This piece dates from the Colonial Revival period. I restore antique and make custom furniture. I rescued this gorgeous chest. It was on it's way to a landfill, buried beneath a dark brown paint.I was intirgued by it's design, but I fell in love with this piece when I saw the stunning wood grains hidden under the brown paint. The wood is solid cherry with wonderful, rich grains and textures. Some parts of this chest may be red birch or maple.The cherry wood is both sapwood and heartwood. This accounts for the varied colors and grain patterns, in this beautiful chest The side panels are cherry veneered plywood.I love the blackened grain highlights on the side panels. The wood has many beauty marks including a small age related crack(non-structural) ... morein the top left edge(see photo) I think it adds great charm to the piece. Just like the nails across the top drawer where someone added a piece of wood to the top edge of the drawer(see photo) I think the top drawer edge looks awesome with the exposed nails and the wonderful colors.The"eye brow" shaped drawer pulls are all original. You won't find more beautiful and unique solid cherry wood pulls, the grain patterns are superb. I restored this chest from top to bottom. Including all of the drawers being taken fully apart and restored. I added a wood reinforcement strip in the back of one drawer. the drawers feature dovetail joinery on the front corners with box joinery on the rear corners.I custom added the trim(solid maple) on the bottom edge of the side panels I restored the entire finish by hand scraping, followed by many, many coats of hand rubbed varnish.The top drawer has a lock,without a key.This lovely chest has hard earned beauty marks such as nicks, dings etc, consistent with any fine antique. All its original locks& key, finely turned mahogany vasal formed legs, all hand cut dovetailed drawers and super aesthetic case molding work. This tall chest is in exceptional condition with only one very old seasoning crack in the veneer following one joining seam on its right hand back side. It is truly a non issue but we bring everything we note to your attention. This tall chest has all its original wide plank hand chamfered drawer panel bottoms and its back is made from all wonderful pine chamfered panels with structural tenons terminating in the back of the chest. the chest has been stripped of paint and refinished some where in it's life. it has all wide mahogany boards. it notched on the bottom base on left and right! old dovetails. wavy back all most like is has been plane. it has been restored as you can see bracket on the inner and base and old green paint. ABOUT 32 1/4" TALL BY ABOUT 37 1/4" WIDE BY 18" DEEP. I been using it in the kitchen. the center drawer is deep so it has room for blankets and towels. it not the best restoration somebody did but it is looking good for age and holding its own according to a expert. now in the back left corner it is missing a little piece.maybe 1 1/4" by 3/4" and it is a bit slanted AT ONE END/ to fit in. the strip in the back part of the top is oak. The chest has six drawers. The side lock enables the user to lock the five bottom drawers with a key which I have. Two of the pulls have been replaced on the drawer that contains the butlers desk. They blend well with the other pulls. The top contains two doors over a mirror. It has a gallery shelf on both sides of the doors. Underneath the shelves. The back walnut boards have a beaded board design. The sides of the chest also have a beaded board design. The top is removable for easier transport. It was love at first sight when I met this Bureau/ Chest of Drawers. Circa 1890.needing to be loving restored to a majestic chest once again. I lovingly and meticulously restored this chest from top to bottom. Respecting it as the wonderful antique treasure it is.You can easily see it is a"chest on chest" style. It features beautiful walnut veneers and solid walnut woods. The solid brass hardware is all original and very intricate. Stunning really. I buffed it back to full glory. The lower drawers have a carving which outlines all the lower drawers together(see photo)There is a very small squiggle in the carving(close up photo) which was done by the maker on the lower drawer, it adds great character. No one has ever noticed it until I pointed it out to them. All of the drawers& glides/runners have been fully restored and slide ... moreexcellent. The Sheraton style legs with fluted corner posts enhance the lines of this chest.I restored the finish using many. Many coats of hand rubbed satin varnish which bringing out the gorgeous walnut grains. Built like a tank from all hardwood construction. I custom made the small piece of walnut trim in front of the backsplash.The two small doors are a very unique feature. I installed new magnetic catches for the doors. All of the drawers feature lock and keyed dovetail joinery. Strong, solid and secure displaying the finest craftsmanship by the maker. I restored the inside of all the drawers with the same hand rubbed satin finish as the exterior of the chest.The drawer bottoms are rich& beautiful grained mahogany. Like any fine antique.You will find character marks and minor imperfections in the this piece, such as nick, dings, filled holes, they add character and patina to this wonderful chest. Lusterous cherry on top and sides, with flame mahogany veneer on the drawers done in a repeating pattern that resembles a bird in flight. Archetypal big round brasses hardware and simple, folksy carvings running along the bottom length of the leg, finishing off with scrolled feet. There is a bit of nicking to the veneer in a few places, but its old damage and somehow looks inherent. Other than that, it is in amazing condition. The drawers are smooth and the wood is beautiful. Looks like it was refinished a while back. Very, very heavy and solid. One of the nicest large bureaus I've seen-and an unusual example of Sheraton. 38" tall x 21 3/4" deep x 42 3/4" wide. This is a very nice walnut dresser with wishbone mirror. As far as we know it is all original. It has been owned by one family for the past 70 years. We do not know the history of it prior to that. The piece is in very good condition with exception of a crack on the top of the right hand glove box and a couple dark stains on the top of the dresser. As you know. The chest of drawers is laid out with one large upper drawer over three smaller graduated drawers. English Regency 6 Drawer Chest Dresser, Egyptian Motifs, Mahogany, ~1820 Antique
This is an English. Circa 1820, six drawer chest or dresser. It is made with thick, bookmatched mahogany veneer over pine, double raised panel sides, and fluted columns resting on strong spade feet. The original Egyptian Revival gilt brasses celebrated Britain's 1798 defeat of Napoleon in The Battle of the Nile, and the subsequent discoveries of Egyptian art and culture. The chest is 50" high, 40 3/8" wide, and 23 1/8" deep. Five drawers are approximately 6 3/4" high, and the bottom drawer is 8 1/2" high. I cannot find a maker's identification, but the frame and drawers are hand numbered in pencil. This chest was professionally refinished approximately 30 years ago, and it has been used irregularly since that time. Small areas in the secondary wood of the drawers were filled at the time of refinishing, but ... morethis appears to have been done for cosmetic purposes only. There is no movement in any of the joinery including the legs, and the drawers work very well for a chest of this age. As is appropriate, I suspect the chest with drawers weighs 250 lbs. There are age appropriate scratches and bumps here and there, and particularly on the top and top drawer face. Also, there is long-term wear to the veneer at the location of the ring pulls. Many of the hardware posts(which hold the ring pulls) have been replaced, and the two original posts on the bottom drawer are a bit loose. Further, some of the nuts that fasten the pulls to the drawers have been replaced. Lastly, one of the drawer locks is missing, as is the key. I would recommend Ball and Ball, Exton for the repair, replacement and or keying of the locks. I believe the clean lines and strong profiles of this chest exemplify good Regency furniture. It’s in overall good condition, ... morewith only a lamination seam in the thin crown molded top. There are also some little worm holes from a long time ago on the soft wood on the back, and there is a little repair on the molding on the right hand bottom by the foot. It comes with its original key, and all seven of the locks seem to work. Remember, however, that we don’t ever guarantee these old locks to work, and they should be oiled, adjusted, and repaired. It has seven drawers, each standing for a day of the week, and it purposely doesn’t have handles and needs to be locked and unlocked with a key. It has a crown molded top, and handcut dovetails. The interesting part of this chest is that where it comes apart, someone has inked his or her signature: D. Fredricksborg, as well as signing the backboards.
