Please note. We have a very large collection of additional images of this piece available for your enjoyment below. Description: This listing is for a ... moreSet of Four Period Louis XV Carved Fruitwood Fauteuil Arm Chairs. France, circa the 18th Century. They are a stunning set, rarely found in a full collection of four- because these are generally easier to sell as a single chair than as a set of four, they are regularly broken up and sold individually. To find a set that has not been merely assembled, but literally is crafted by the same hand and at the same date, still intact after three hundred years is difficult and infrequent. They feature a beautiful pink upholstery, stitched to form stripes in the shape of diamonds throughout, tacked to the frame with decorative brass nails. The crest of each chair features a bouquet of flowers with leaves flowing outward into a molded frame. Serpentine along the sides and bottom around a comfortable upholstered back. Curved arms. Upholstered at the center with brass tack lining, flow out from the back from pinned mortise-tenon joints into carved hand rests over incredibly molded and petite arm supports that curve in to join the seat frame with an S-scroll completing the design. The arm support proportions speak to the mastery of this set of chairs, noting just how thin the profile of each is and how delicately carved they are. The frame of the seat is carved long the apron with matching molding that flanks a floral bouquet. The four cabriole legs join the frame with exposed peg tenon-mortise joints behind floral carved knees before flowing in a perfect cyma-curve to terminate in understated foliate carved french toes- the carving on the toes is mirrored in the hand rests, where again the design is subtle and understated. Each chair has a wonderful glowing finish. Deeply polished with a warm patina. The exposed back reveals all construction details, each chair enjoying original tenon-mortise joinery with small wooden pins to lock the frame together perfectly for many centur

Jefferson Chair or Bachelor's Chair 18th Century
Handy in the 18th century. The wooden, nearly all-purpose piece of furniture was designed to help single men to maintain a proper home. RARE ANTIQUE SALESMAN'S SAMPLE 18TH CENTURY STYLE CHEST OF DRAWERS MINIATURE
This is a beautiful and quite rare antique miniature chest of drawers. It appears to be a furniture salesman's sample. The style appears to be an 18th century style. This piece is quite old and appears to be at least early 19th century and possibly earlier. Many of the drawers appear to be made from pieces of wooden antique cigar boxes. The chest of drawers measures 14" tall x 9 3/4" wide at widest point x 6" deep not including the handles. It has wear from use but overall has a great antique style and looks amazing. EARLY 18TH CENTURY MAHOGANY CAMPAIGN DRESSING TABLE-VERY RARE & UNIQUE PIECE!
EXTREMELY RARE AMERICAN LATE 18TH CENTURY CAMPAIGN DRESSING TABLE IN MAHOGANY With our special pleasure Bay Colony Antiques is delighted to offer you this excellent very scarce late 18th Century(circa 1790-1800) American Mahogany Federal period Campaign dressing table-vanity/shaving desk table with fully finished interior. For these to be American is first most notable. These were almost always English or French. This comes to us from a remarkable Vermont estate and was purchased at Christies in the 1980's along with most of the furniture collection. This is a portable vanity or shaving table for dressing. The table is designed with a big robust box that has a lift top released by a brass button& lock. Its interior has covered cavities for a wash basin. Brushes, shaving mug and various other compartments all suited for dressing needs. ... moreIt contains a lift top mirror with storage boxes. It has an interesting back cavity designed for holding the legs. We found these legs to on extremely tight so we are not going to attempt to force them off. These have screwed on threads and forcing anything 250 years old made of wood is not a bright idea. This is a wonderful extremely rare gem of American period furniture that measures 30 1/2" long, 21" wide, 34 1/2" with its drop leaves locked open and stands 30" tall.
