Rare Retro Danish Teak Wood Writing Desk With a Lift up Vanity Mirror Section From a local estate sale is this wonderful Teak Wood Desk. It can be used as a writing desk or a make-up vanity. It has three small pull out drawers on the inside with the middle drawer having a lift up mirror and there are three larger drawers below the desk area. The inside of the desk also has a couple of cubby shelves. If you look below the second shelf you can see someone has cut a small hole to pass cords through. I could not find any markers markings but I am guessing from other items in the house of this estate sale it is Danish and probably from the 60's or 70’s. Vintage Mahogany Dresser Mirror Potthast Bros. Federal Style Beautiful! LQQK!
This is a Vintage Mahogany Dresser Mirror. Also referred to as a Shaving Mirror or Shaving Stand, hand made by Potthast Brothers in the 1930's. As is typical Potthast, the details on this piece are exquisitely done. The mahogany wood grain is wonderfully rich and the turnings are a masterpiece. There are 3 drawers, and the dovetails on the drawers are cut by hand. The knobs are delicately turned. The mirror is held in place by solid brass thumb pieces carefully inlaid into the posts. The top of the cabinet section is inset and the sides are framed by short turned columns which add an interesting touch and create balance. It measures 24 inches wide by 25 1/4 inches tall to the top of the spindle posts by 9 inches deep. The mirror itself in it's frame is 20 inches by 16 inches. This piece would make a handsome and functional addition ... moresitting on top of a dresser. I took the photos outdoors so the lighting would show the condition of this piece and the beautiful wood grain. There are some small dings and scratches to the finish which. I believe add to the character of the piece. There is some color fading from sunlight on the surface behind the mirror. The Potthast Brothers Furniture Company was founded in 1892 by brothers Vincent. John, Theodore and William who came to Baltimore from Westphalia, Germany. A fifth brother remained in Germany and was also a furniture maker. The business and showroom was located in the prestigious building at 964 N Charles Street in Baltimore. We had the pleasure of spending time with Theodore and his wife who lived a shore distance from our home when we lived in Baltimore. In 1996. STATTON TRUTYPE AMERICANA OXFORD ANTIQUE CHERRY 4 DRAWER BACHELOR CHEST
This auction is for a super nice solid antique oxford cherry wood 4 drawer bachelors chest by Statton Trutype Americana furniture company. This chest is 41 1/2"wide X 35 1/2" high and has 4 drawers. Two top drawers that are 4 1/2" deep and two bottom drawers that are 5 1/2" deep. These drawers all have dovetail joints and are in great condition with no breaks. Loose joints or repairs that have been done of anykind and also are not missing any hardware. The pull handles on this chest all have the Americana eagle or bird design on them with the three stars above and are all complete and attached but do show some fadeing and ware in the brass finish. There is also a decorative brass key hole in the center of each drawer that looks great. Inside the top drawer is the burn stamp that reads STATTON TRUTYPE AMERICANA. There is ... morealso a tag on the back that reads ORDER# 10969. RECIEVED DATE oct. 11, 1966. Oxford Antique Cherry. There is also a marking on the back of the chest itself that reads OXFORD ANTIQUE CHERRY. This is a super nice chest as can be seen in the pictures but does show some minor sunfade as well as some minor light scratches on the top but nothing bad. There have been no repairs done to this chest at all but it does appear to have had some touch up stain applied at some time. Looks great!
