English George III Chippendale 18th Century Bachelor Chest of Drawers, 1780-1800
English George III Period Chippendale Bachelor Antique Chest of Drawers Last quarter of the 18th Century. Probably c. 1780-1800 Mahogany veneers& solid woods(primary surfaces) Oak(drawer secondary surfaces) Pine(drawer facings. Case secondaries) Item# 130001LFF27 This is a fine English George III Chippendale Antique Bachelor Chest of Drawers of wonderful proportions. Crafted during the last years of the 18th Century. Probably c. 1780-1800. The deep cognac mahogany color has been well retained, clearly a chest that was protected properly from the damaging rays of the sun, the grains of the wood glowing through years of waxing. It has a well developed patina throughout, and while it does not have it's original surfaces, the finish is early and quite fine. The top projects slightly on all three facing edges. A rounded molding framing ... morethe perimeter and protecting the edges of the veneer. Beneath the top, a thin blade surface slides from the top, a feature identifying this chest as a"Bachelor" chest of drawers- this convenient device was quite popular during the period, allowing the chest of drawers to be used actively as a desk surface for a quick letter or for reading and studying in the evening hours. The blade is crafted of pine secondary woods with glue blocks giving strength to the overall frame, this covered with a brown replaced felt and edged in mahogany veneers with two tiny cast brass original knobs at the facade. Four graduated drawers line the case. These with period circular stamped brass hardware in the original holes(exception with the lowest drawer. Where the hardware is slightly mismatched and holed just beside the original holes) flanking original stamped brass keyhole escutcheons. The drawer face is framed in projecting cockbead molding, the frame dovetailed front and back. Inside of the case, some drawers have partial dustboards, others are had partial dustboards which are now absent and replaced with 20th Century runners on either side. The antique chest of drawers rests over pl

Dovetailed case and superbly formed crown molding. After careful examination and realizing there was no such animal as an eight drawer Chippendale period maple dresser. We wanted you to be fully aware of this issue and we are going to adjust its price as much as we can considering we paid strongly for this now extremely unique piece. ... moreIts secondary woods are constructed from pine, maple and chestnut. OUTSTANDING SHERATON MAHOGANY DRESSER-DODGE FAMILY CABINET MAKERS SALEM, MASS
FINE SHERATON PERIOD MAHOGANY DRESSER BY THE DODGE FAMILY CABINET MAKERS SALEM. MASSACHUSETTS CIRCA 1805 With our highest compliments we are delighted to offer you this stunning highly figured mahogany Sheraton period dresser attributed to the Dodge Family Cabinet Makers of Salem. Massachusetts circa 1795-1805. We have been extremely fortunate to turn up two Dodge pieces during this past year. This piece had us on the fence between Samuel MacIntyre and the Dodge's. The simliarities between the known Dodge pieces we have handled and this dresser leaves us with little doubt. This piece has a very unusual upper deck containing a two drawer glove box. This is bordered by a wonderfully scrolled three sided dovetailed galley in addition to having finely carved columns flowing into poweful period Sheraton legs. Its case is built in a two over ... morethree drawer format. There was tiny 3/4" diameter Sheraton brass rosettes at one time at the curled ends of the galleries back board. We are presetly hunting down a pair and will continue to even if this has sold before we track a pair down. These are only decorative features but we'd like to see them back where they belong. This piece has been well cared for and properly maintained throughout its lifetime. It is in fantastic condition and has 100% of its original structual integrity right down to the base glue blocks. Each drawer, back and base panels are made from wide board chamfered pine planks. It is 42 3/4" long, 19 1/2" wide(deep) 37 3/4" tall at the top of its lower deck and 47" tall at the top of the back gallery. Fine American Federal Bowfront Chest of Drawers Dresser 18th Century c.1790-1810
This listing is for a Hepplewhite Bowfront Chest of Drawers of the George III/Federal Period(depending on origin) Crafted in New England or England, circa 1790-1810. The top is a fine single solid board of bleached mahogany, bow in form along the front, with fine grains framed in an edge of banded veneer flanked by satinwood stringer inlays. It slides on dovetails along the top of the case, allowing it to shrink and expand without threatening to split the single solid board top; the top is also nailed for stability beneath round wooden pegs, some of the nails broken over time. The face of the case features four graduated bowed drawers. Each hand dovetailed beneath the applied cockbead molding framing each drawer. The drawers are constructed with pine secondary woods, each carefully preserved with some rebuilding to ensure full functionality, ... moreincluding a strip added at the back of each drawer to compensate for shrinking across the grains and replaced runner dovetails. They feature replaced brass knob hardware, each glowing and in flawless condition. An original lock is still secured in all but the top drawer. The face of each drawer is built up using pine secondaries beneath the mahogany veneers for a light and easily flowing drawer. The case sides are dovetailed at the bottom. Forming a perfect square of the solid mahogany sides. The back boards are secured to the back of the case with original rose head nails, coupled with many modern nails to tighten the back to the case. The chest rests over intensely flared french feet on splayed toes, each entirely original with all interior blocking entirely original and only one slight replacement with the rear right foot support. This is an absolutely gorgeous chest of drawers. Using soft bleached mahogany to it's fullest to create a warm and glowing design. With tight and clean lines that are clearly broken with the intense flare of the feet and smooth curving apron, it brings life to any formal setting. Crafted ingeniously and in simply outstanding condition, this c

American Chippendale Period Walnut Miniature Chest of Drawers, Poss. Southern
American Chippendale Period Walnut Diminutive Chest of Drawers Possibly of Southern origin Late 18th Century Item# 130102RIG18 This is a very interesting early work of American craftsmanship- an American Chippendale Chest of Drawers. Crafted with diminutive proportions during the fourth quarter of the 18th Century. It features a single solid board top attached to the case with pegs along the rim, this projecting lightly over a distinctive reeded molding wrapping around the three sides. Chamfered columns flank either side of three graduated drawers with molded lips, each with replaced brasses and original locks(top drawer lock is period, we believe it to be original, but it might be a replacement) The sides of the case are likewise solid walnut planks, these almost certainly joining to the bottom of the case with horizontal nails hidden by ... morethe molding- naturally, we have not removed the molding to verify this, but this presence of nailed joinery is evident throughout the case coupled with a lack of dovetails on the bottom board. The backboards are undisturbed yellow pine attached with rosehead nails. The drawer joinery is consistent in the top two drawers. Slightly varied at the back of the bottom drawer. This variation would typically suggest an alteration or rebuilding. But in this instance it does appear to have been crafted as such originally: Top drawer- a yellow pine drawer bottom deeply chamfered to rabbet into the poplar drawer sides. The bottom nailed to the poplar back board with a neat row of four nails; front dovetails are nailed from the sides, rear dovetails are nailed from the back. Middle drawer- a poplar drawer bottom is deeply chamfered to rabbet into the yellow pine drawer sides. The bottom nailed to the poplar back board with a neat row of four nails; front dovetails are nailed from the sides, rear dovetails are nailed from the back. Bottom drawer- a poplar drawer bottom is deeply chamfered(though the shape of chamfering varies slightly from the other two. Note the picture of all thr

18th Century American Antique Pennsylvania Chippendale Chest of Drawers Dresser
Click for a slideshow of detailed pictures! American Chippendale Period Cherry Chest of Drawers Pennsylvania. C. 1770-1800 Item# 120109RPR08 This is a fine Chippendale chest of the period. Crafted in rural Pennsylvania during the years of 1770-1800 of solid Cherry. The top is crafted of two boards, dovetailed along the edges to the side boards, a fine curved molding wrapping around the entire face and sides, projecting over the facade of four graduated drawers flanked by fluted quarter columns capped and footed with turned capitals. The drawers are typical of Pennsylvania, incredibly solid with very thick secondary woods of solid pine, hand chiseled behind the hardware and each with original locks and pulls. The bottoms are hand chamfered, beveled to rabbet into the side boards and nail at the back with iron hand forged nails. The drawers ... moreare divided with cherry dividers, backed by half-depth boards of pine for partial dustboards. Three pine boards are nailed horizontally to the chest, the boards routed to create no gap, beveled along the sides with a chisel and nailed evenly. The chest rests over four scroll cut ogee bracket feet, replaced but almost certainly in near form of the original feet. The proportions and overall flow of the chest are beyond striking. With unusual width. This chest has a sense of presence that is treasured in works of Pennsylvania Chippendale. This is a piece you will certainly treasure in your collection, with a crispness to the fluting and carved molding that sets it apart. Measurements: 43 5/8" wide x 22 1/2" deep x 34" high Condition Report: 1. Early finish. Though not original 2. Left side is crafted of one board. The old shrinking crack is filled 3. Right side is one board but for a 1/2" strip along the back 4. Hardware pins are mismatched. Some certainly replaced, all of the period. We believe the hardware is mostly original, including all locks. Most locks still have original hand forged screws. No key. 5. Top drawer with square replaced patch on drawer botto

Description: This listing is for a Federal Period Red Painted Maple Chest of Drawers. Probably Connecticut c. 1780-1800. It is a gorgeous work of art with a rather early and wonderful crusty red and black painted surface over the primary woods. The top projects over the case, finishing in soft molded edges over four graduated drawers. Each drawer features fully original hand cast batwing hardware and faux-keyhole escutcheons with numerous layers of original and later paints- one picture below shows a faux-keyhole escutcheon removed from the case, depicting the gritty surface behind it as well as detailed closeups of the back of the hardware. Each drawer is hand dovetailed with broad and rough dovetails, using what appear to ... morebe Eastern Pine for the drawer frame and bottom. The bottom is deeply chamfered to rabbet into the frame, and each drawer bottom is nailed at the back, though many nails are later with only a few originals. Each drawer is divided by cross bars that through-dovetail into and through the side of the case and backed by pine drawer runners nailed inside the case with rose head iron nails(one drawer runner top right replaced) The bottom of the case is uniquely designed, sliding into rabbets in the sides of the case along the entire bottom, locking at the front with an exposed through-dovetail. The top, likewise built to last, is joined at the top with a sliding dovetail joint that allows the top to expand and shrink easily without causing cracking or pressure. The back of the case features two board construction, one board being incredibly wide at 20" the second board being 13" wide with a soft ovular flow between the back feet. Original iron rose heads line the perimeter of the case back, locking the very thick secondary wood to the case permanently with only one replaced nail. Louis XV enjoyed a favourable reputation at the beginning of his reign, however in time, his inability to reform the French monarchy; his lack of morals, and his foreign policy on the European stage lost him the support of his people, and he died as one of the most unpopular kings of France. At first he was popular and especially after a near-death illness in Metz in 1744 when the entire country prayed for his recovery. However, his weak and ineffective rule was a contributing factor to the general decline that culminated in the French Revolution. Popular faith in the monarchy was shaken by the scandals of Louis’s private life, and by the end of his life he had become unpopular. During this period despite the critics, the Marquise de Pompadour had an undeniable influence on the flourishing of French arts during the reign of Louis XV, a reign that is often considered the peak of French architecture and interior design. A patron of the arts, the Marquise amassed a considerable amount of furniture and objets d'art in her various estates.

American Chippendale Oxbow Reverse Serpentine Chest of Drawers, MA or NH c.1780
Fine American Chippendale Oxbow Reverse-Serpentine Chest of Drawers Probably Coastal Massachusetts or New Hampshire. C. 1780-1800 Yellow Birch Primaries. White Pine Secondaries Bottom drawer inscribed somewhat illegibly"J(or P) D. Item# 110309OPP17 This fine chest of drawers is beyond stunning visually. With a fine refinish and polish that brings each surface to life in a very real way. The use of birch is an interesting rural application, typical to New England in communities that lacked access to affordable mahogany. Many craftsmen developed their own recipes for how best to finish a birch case to look like mahogany- in New Hampshire, for example, Major Dunlap(1746-1792) recorded at length a two-part recipe to"stain wood to resemble Mehagony" The Dunlap Cabinetmakers: A Tradition in Cabinetmaking" The molded top is a ... moresingle solid plank of birch. Not veneered in any way, the molded rim carved of the solid to mirror the flow of the case. To prevent cracking from shrinking and expanding over time, the craftsman affixed the top to the sides of the case on a dovetail joint, whereby the top slides onto the sides of the case using a dovetail along the entire underside. As the board contracts and expands, it does so freely along this joint, which is why after two hundred and thirty years we have a flawless board free of cracks or splits. Both sides of the case are single solid boards. Incredibly wide, dovetailed into the bottom of the case- this is seen from the inside of the case, where score marks are evident along the white pine bottom. The backboards are pine, locked into the case with a mix of cut nails and rose head nails, each of the boards covered with an even dark oxidization The face is composed of four graduated solid carved drawers, each an absolute work of art. The face of each board is cut precisely to form a flawless serpentine oxbow shape, a very difficult and tricky thing to accomplish as a craftsman. They are hand dovetailed front and back, each with matching perfectly executed dov

Sliding into rabbets in the sides of the case along the entire bottom, locking at the front with an exposed through-dovetail. PERIOD CHIPPENDALE 1760 ULTRA RARE APPLEWOOD DRESSER WORCESTER CO., MASS. LOOK!
ULTRA RARE CHIPPENDALE PERIOD WORCESTER COUNTY MASSACHUSETTS 1760'S SOLID APPLEWOOD DRESSER With the highest possible compliments we could pay any piece we are delighted to offer you this amazing Circa 1760-1780 Chippendale period ultra rare solid applewood dresser. Before we get deeper into the specifics of the chest we would like to say that we do not throw around the term"ultra rare" without great thought& consideration. The other issue is that we do not have the luxury of sitting on pieces for years while our community debates certain aspects in a vetting process. Our most senior member has handled some of the most important pieces turned up in New England in his over 40 years dealing on the very highest tiers of this business. We have a strong suspicion that this solid applewood chest is much more important than we ... moresuspect. But business moves forward. We have to turn our stock over and onto to the next estate. This Chippendale period chest has a completely dovetailed case. Its top and both sides are fastened with finely all hand cut dovetail fasterns. It stands on an a very unique& telling high deeply scrolled bracket foot base. It is truly one of the finest formed bases we have ever seen on any Chippendale period chest. This chest has excellent porportions and in perfect scale. With four graduated drawers all with their original untouched chamferd panels, to its original red washed back& base panels this amazing piece is like out of a time capsule from the last half of the 18th Century. There are a few small splices done on the case(it is afterall over 250 years old) but it is in a wonderful overall original condition with a great golden finish accenting the unique grain of the applewood. We have only given this a mild citrus feeding wax coating. After this drys it will receive a waxing and buffing before we ship it to you. We do this as a last step before crating for shipping or delivering so the wax is not smudged from a piece getting moved around the shop. This chest is 39 1/2&q

American Chippendale Tall Chest of Drawers, Antique 18th Century Highboy, PA
American Chippendale Walnut Tall Chest of Drawers Pennsylvania c. 1770-90 Item# 130105FAH17 This is a Fine American Pennsylvania Chippendale Tall Chest. Circa the late 18th Century from 1770-90. It is a gorgeous antique chest of drawers crafted of solid walnut featuring a rectangle top crowned in a deep flaring cornice with three small drawers over a gallery of five graduated drawers flanked by fluted quarter-round columns on each corner, resting over original scroll cut ogee bracket feet. The top is dovetailed to the case behind the surrounding crown molding. The case sides are crafted of two solid walnut boards. Each with wonderful tight grains. Each of the three smaller drawers slide easily over full length dust boards, protecting the contents beneath them from saw dust and dirt as they move in and out. Some strengthening has been done ... moreto the interior around these drawers, several boards added to strengthen the structure- these additions have not resulted in any alteration of the case and can easily be reversed at a later date if desired. The five stacked graduated drawers are solid poplar with dovetail construction. Each with chamfered bottoms that rabbet into the sides with nailed back ends(some tacks along the back edge modern) Bail pull brass hardware and plain brass keyhole escutcheons line the face of the drawers. The back of the case is constructed of solid hand planed edge boards secured vertically to the case, these nailed in place with hand forged iron nails supplemented by scattered modern nails. The case dovetails into the bottom board, each hidden with the only evidence of hidden dovetails found in the score marks in the corners inside. Each foot is original, with curving and flowing ogee form supported by replaced interior blocking(note the variation in oxidization suggesting much thicker secondary blocking) The back feet supports dovetail to the back feet. The attention to detail in every single aspect of this chest is typical of early American Pennsylvania craftsmanship. A fine selection

American Federal Inlaid Mahogany Bowfront Antique Chest of Drawers c. 1790-1810
American Federal Inlaid Mahogany Bowfront Chest of Drawers Mid-Atlantic States c. 1790-1810 Item# 120101KVP05 This is a very fine American Federal Bowfront Inlaid Mahogany Chest of Drawers. Middle Atlantic States, circa 1790-1810. Crafted of solid mahogany and mahogany veneers, the golden grain flow is magnificent and unbroken. The top has an inlaid rim with stringer inlay outlines, rectangular in shape while gently bowing across the front to conform with the case. The drawers are also bowed, each with fully original oval brasses flanking original keyholes over what we believe to be original locks with ovular stringer inlay outlining each of the graduated four drawers. They are hand dovetailed back and front, with yellow pine secondaries, the bottom board chamfered to rabbet into the drawer frame and secured with glued blocking at regular ... moreintervals along the frame. Each drawer is divided by a solid mahogany bar, backed by pine secondaries that go almost the entire way through the case to form most of a dust board between the drawers. The drawer blades are hidden behind a thin piece of mahogany. Presumably covering the dovetail slot joinery. The back of the case features all original boards, many with original iron rose head nails, but re-secured with nails and screws throughout. An original yellowed hand written label is illegible, but still present on the back of the case. The chest rests over four French feet, each with just slight outward splay and entirely original blocking along the bottom. The feet are cracked along the grain, natural as the grains run perpendicular to the pine blocking, but do not in any way compromise the feet. A fine band of yellow inlay framed by dark stringer inlay runs along the bottom of the case to complete the chest. Original in almost every single aspect of the chest. This work of art is remarkably well preserved. As an investment grade antique in every aspect, this is a very fine acquisition for any serious collector of American Federal furniture. It will certainly be treasured

American Chippendale Cherry Bachelors Antique Chest of Drawers c. 1770-90
American Chippendale Cherry Bachelor's Chest of Drawers. 18th Century Replaced period brasses. Feet mostly original w/ repairs and restorations, c. 1770-90 Item# 120010OEY02 This is a beautiful bachelor's chest with fine proportions. Crafted of solid cherry wood throughout all primary surfaces. The case is crafted entirely using dovetail joinery, noting the sides which lock to the top with a half-blind dovetail, covered with a fine molded rim; the bottom mirrors the top construction, and the drawer divider bars dovetail into the face of the chest. These are of only partial depth, not full dustboards, typical of New England designs as it lessened the overall weight of the chest. The facade is four graduated drawers with bold batwing brasses, each replaced using nearly the same holes, the brasses of the same age as the chest. The drawer ... moreconstruction shows exquisite attention to detail, note the channeling along the top of the drawer framing, a design characteristic of Massachusetts(though also seen throughout other New England states) The sides of the chests wear fine brass carrying handles, each of magnificent proportions with original hand forged screws locking them to the chest. They are likely added to the chest, though since the chest would not have had brasses on the sides of the chest to start with this is difficult to prove. The chest rests on scroll cut bracket feet, mostly original with mostly original blocking, the right side of the feet replaced in exact replication of the rest of the chest. This is a gorgeous piece. A visual delight and crafted with utmost attention to detail. The cherry boards have a wonderful jagged flamed grain with just a tinge of the soft red hue associated with a natural cherry. With a clean overall appeal and a deep patina glowing through the high polish finish, this is a piece that will enhance your living spaces. A timeless design with excellent lines, this is a chest your family will treasure for a lifetime. Measurements: 35 7/8" wide x 20 1/2" deep x 35 1/4

American Chippendale Cherry Antique Chest of Drawers, Pennsylvania c. 1770-80
American Chippendale Cherry Chest of Drawers w/ Fluted Columns over Ogee Bracket Feet Pennsylvania. C. 1770-80 Back of drawer inscribed"Charles Davis" w/ faint illegible inscriptions beneath the top Item# 130206SWE15 An outstanding specimen of Early Pennsylvania craftsmanship. This chest of drawers is one that retains incredible character and history etched in it's worn and abraded surfaces. It's owners have been faithful caretakers of the chest, restoring breaks and losses without in any way altering the chest itself- though the feet have seen great wear, each cracked and broken at one point or another, every aspect of the feet have been preserved in full originality. Typical of much work from rural locations throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania. The chest is constructed using large boards of cherry. The top board is molded ... morearound the edges, projecting boldly over the case, though this is softened by the molding that supports it's transition to the case. Large square wooden pegs secure the top to the case, driven through the top to wedge it into the frame in equal increments along the border of the top. A pair of drawers rest over three larger drawers. Each graduated in size and retaining their original brasses(locks absent) They are crafted of pine secondaries hand dovetailed front and back with a deeply chamfered bottom sliding into rabbets on either side and nailed in triplet with hand forged roseheads at the back of each drawer; along the chamfered edges. Triangular blocks are glued for ultimate strength and longevity(a few replaced, a few absent) The third drawer up from the bottom is inscribed on the back"Charles Davis" in script on the back board of the drawer frame. Flanking the drawers are thick fluted quarter round corner columns, raising the crown molding like supporting pillars; they are in perfect proportion to the size of the case, giving a distinct architecture to the form. The backboards are untouched for the most part, entirely original and retaining almost all of

Very unusual Welsh dresser pre 1800 - rustic with rosewood effects
Beautiful antique piece shipped from the UK when I located to US 15 years ago. It was commissioned by my great great grandfather in Nantcaredig. South Wales, around 1800, probably as a dowry piece. Some interesting features are: some panes of Victorian'bubble' glass- also some panes missing altogether. Late 19th Century Welsh interior papering- sadly not in great condition- but see picture. Rosewood knobs marking it out as superior rustic- my ancestors were on the way up- what happened then! Item can be picked up or I can arrange shipping. By agreed method with buyer. It is very heavy, but is in two pieces- drawers and top. There is a large crack pictured. That my Mother told me had been there since she was a girl 1905- 1920- so just part of the piece's history I guess!

American Chippendale Walnut Chest of Drawers, Pennsylvania c. 1770-80, Antique
American Chippendale Walnut Chest of Drawers Pennsylvania. Probably Philadelphia or the Delaware River Valley, c. 1770-80 Item# 130108OSP25 This is an excellent example from the Philadelphia or Delaware River Valley region of Pennsylvania. A fine American Chippendale Walnut Chest of Drawers c. the third quarter of the 18th Century 1770-80. Of quite desirable proportions, the chest has a refined presence with well preserved color in the walnut case. The quality of the chest is self evident, the top with a sandwiched molding wrapping around the rim, projecting slightly over the front and deeply over the back- this allowed the chest to rest flush with the wall despite the thick floor molding. Each of the graduated drawers has a molded lip of the solid. The faces solid walnut, the sides and bottom crafted of poplar: these are hand dovetailed, ... morethe bottoms deeply chamfered and slid into rabbets in the sides; the riven bottom boards run perpendicular to the face, nailed at the back with(mostly) original wrought iron rosehead nails with white pine blocks fitted in the chamfered edges along the sides. Original steel locks are retained in the drawers, locks now absent, the brasses replaced with period batwings- the chest had Federal oval brasses placed on it at one point, that owner drilling new holes very close to the original holes; the current brasses are in those same later holes. The back of the chest is joined with two original hand planed planks nailed around the perimeter. The top and bottom join to the chest with hidden dovetails. Evident in the score marks on the inside of the case. The feet are preserved in almost entirely original condition other than age appropriate repairs(noted below) the form of these ogee bracket feet is above reproach, a fine scroll cut swirl that has robust flare to it and terminates in a bladed edge. The blocking of the feet is intricate and likely the reason the feet have survived in such good condition; large triangular blocks support the thick corner block, these carved to fit

French Provincial Louis XVI Painted Chest of Drawers Commode, Early 19th Century
French Provincial Green Painted Commode in the Louis XVI Taste Probably Early 19th Century Item# 130108USB26 This is an absolute treasure of a find. This level of quality difficult to come across in tasteful proportions and embellishment. Crafted primarily of solid Golden Oak, the chest has had at least three different painted coats, the current gray-green over two prior shades of red and maroon. It has a distinctly Neoclassical presence to the form, the drawers angular and layered with stepped-corner panels of a lighter shade flanking a molded sphere around the keyhole escutcheon. The corner columns of the frame are deeply fluted, the lower portion stop-fluted with large reeds over the turned and tapered feet. The feet are also fluted in a bold and exaggerated manner, giving a sense of strength and personality to these small feet; the result ... moreis very successful, the feet actually being a significant embellishment to the overall form. The case of the commode is joined with tenon-mortised framing around chamfered oak panels that sink into miters and prevent splitting from shrinking. The only shrinkage split in the case is the top. As this was naturally affixed more permanently with pegs. This is a simply outstanding find that remains in well preserved condition; a form that simply never goes out of vogue. This is a fine investment that will be cherished in your family for many generations to come. Measurements: 47" wide x 22 1/2" deep x 35" high Condition Report: Painted surface is at least the third coat; two different shades of a red and maroon wash are visible beneath the current green. Shrink crack in the top along with scratches and wear; the wear is age appropriate and not distracting. Beneath the paint. Small replacements and repairs are hidden: old holes of prior hardware, the repaired lower portion of the rear left foot. Commode retains it's original locks(no key) original keyhole escutcheons and currently wears replaced oval brasses(one of which has a little"curl" of the edge

LATE 18TH CENTURY HEPPLEWHITE CHERRY FOUR DRAWER CHEST WITH THISTLE BRASSES-LOOK
SOUTHERN UNITED STATES 18TH CENTURY HEPPLEWHITE CHEST WITH THISTLE BRASSES With our pleasure we are pleased to offer you this fine 18th century Southern United States(possibly Virginia) four drawer Hepplewhite period dresser with lovely period English Thistle brassess and four graduated drawers. This is a wonderful period chest that has obviously been refinished but that is about the only negative in the equation. The chest is structurally pure. Upon inspecting the secondaries the lack of oxidation on the chamfered drawer panels threw one or two of us. They turn out to be select cuts of cherry which started our theorizing its origin. We quickly knew it had very little in common with our native New England pieces and simply ruled it out right down through Pennsylvania. We are not certain of what Southern state it originates from. We note similar ... moreconstruction techniques indicative of Virginia. It the best call we can make. What we are certain about is that it has cock bead molded drawers. Smartly formed legs, cut out sides, a lovely scrolled front apron detailed by a fruitwood band on inlay. This is a large robust chest that is perfectly functioning and will hold a large amount of clothing. We are almost most certain we are offering you a fine 18th century chest for less than the price of even a new mid grade veneer of particle board dresser. Why not own something that will last a lifetime and actually be an asset as opposed to something that may fall apart in a few years? The choice is yours and the question is self evident. There are some mars on the left side of the case(photos provided) which are truly not a big issue but we are obligated to inform you. This lovely old chest is 42" long, 19 3/4" wide and 41 3/4" tall. Its back and base panels are as attractive to us as the chest itself but that is the opinion our expert eyes and not your own tastes. Its as right true and correct as one could ask for. We note a mid 19th century replacement of just one section of ... moreone side of the two old growth white pine back chamfered panels with tiny period screws. FINE 18TH CENTURY NEW HAMPSHIRE COASTAL PINE& MAPLE SHERATON PERIOD DRESSER With our highest compliments we are delighted to offer you this handsome 18th Century New Hampshire Sheraton period dresser in pine with maple ring turned columns and turned legs. This is a superb example of the New Hampshire side of the North Shore American furniture movement. It stands right out with masterfully turned columns. Graceful aprons on its front and sides, doublewave formed back gallery and original period pulls. This dresser has dovetailed pine plank base construction with lovely deeply chamfered pine drawer panels and back panels. Its finish is untouched and overall very nice. The case has cock bead molding around all its drawer openings. We received it less one brass rosette accouterment to the gallery. We are having that fabricated and you will ... moreget that as a condition of sale with this piece. We are processing several estates as fast as possible while we attend to servicing our customers with shipments pending. We are going flat out and have focused all our collective attentions on this division of our operation until it slows down some. We are experiencing an amazing influx of estates and amazing pieces of the likes of this stunning New England 18th Century Sheraton chest. This chest is most worthy of vetting as to its maker. We suspect one famed shop in particular but their works in maple and mahogany are better known and the medium of the construction of this chest. These aprons are almost a dead certain glaring clue. Settling that question with finality will force us to obtain research data at a Connecticut University which we do not have time to do right now. This is a very worthy piece and it is as nice as they come. In the meantime we will not be guessing despite our expertise in these matters. We note an old small restoration on one side of the gallery missing the rosette and possibly one drawer panel replaced with a chamfered oak panel. We disclose anything that comes to our attention and try to be as careful

American Queen Anne Inlaid Walnut Chest of Drawers, Pennsylvania c. 1745-65
American Queen Anne Inlaid Walnut Chest of Drawers Probably Southeastern. Pennsylvania c. 1745-65 Item# 130106PXP17 An absolute visual dance. This is a rare and wonderful American Queen Anne Chest of Drawers executed in Walnut from Southeastern, Pennsylvania c. 1745-65. The top is embellished with restraint. Centermost inlaid with a four-leaf-clover flanked by notched corner spandrels and framed in a projecting molding. Featuring two small drawers over three long drawers. The facade is entirely graduated both in terms of drawer size and scaling of the ovular inlaid designs. Faint scars are visible at the center of each half-circle, the walnut still retaining the impression of the artists compass when tracing these formations. The top drawer is protected with a dust board. Keeping dirt and wood rubbings from the clothing, while the other drawers ... morewere crafted without dust boards. In terms of construction. Each drawer is separated with a rounded drawer blade that notches into the rounded stiles of the case. The drawers are hand dovetailed front and back, the bottoms flat and nailed along the back edge, each crafted of(apparently) white and yellow pine in the sides and bottom; the drawer fronts are walnut veneer over pine. The backboards were removed at one point, the original boards reattached using modern nails. The sides of the case are two boards of walnut. Each match-booked from the same board to result in a nearly symmetrical grain flow on one side and the other. While the feet are replaced. They are of similar form to many Queen Anne chests of Southeastern Pennsylvania crafted in the same period of years; the most noteworthy oversight is the inset of the feet- these should be flush with the molding to be more appropriate, and their color has faded differently than that of the overall chest. Other minor adjustments/repairs are evident in the chest, including the somewhat odd runner between the two smaller drawers: this does not tenon into the back or find any security in the frame, but rather ends somewhat

Federal Chest of Drawers. Exceptional Quality and Design
Exemplary Federal Chest. Cherry wood and burl mahogany placed so eloquently each piece around the escutcheon looks like an eagle. Wonderful ebonized piece along the bottom. There is amazing variation in the colors and shapes of this piece. Very smooth. Nice brasses. Though I don't think they are original; they are certainly in keeping with the period. The carvings along the bottom are beautiful and totally unusual. All drawers are smooth and solid. Really fine workmanship. 43" wide, 22" deep, 43 1/2" tall. 18th Century Connecticut Cherry Bureau--Possibly Chippendale
Even if you haven't discovered the origins of this magnificent piece. When you look at it you can tell it is something incredibly special. The wood glows like a warm fire. The brasses are still yellow-even though the piece dates back to the l700s. If it still had its original bracket feet, it would be astronomically expensive, but somewhere along the line someone lopped them off in favor of castors! Not the end of the world since it's quite heavy and the wheels make it easier to move it around. but kind of blasphemous. Still, it is amazingly gorgeous, the kind of piece that stays in your family forever. For shipping. Please contact me and I will get in touch with TSC Moving to try and get you a good rate. 20" deep x 36" tall x 39 1/4" wide.

c.1780 Walnut ..Georgian Sheraton Antique Dresser Chest of Drawers Commode
This spectacular chest circa 1780 is an amazing Georgian Sheraton Style commode/chest of drawers When I acquired this beautiful diamond in the rough.I knew it was destined for greatness. I restored this piece from top to bottom. This is some of the most beautiful burled walnut I have ever laid eyes upon. This is a world class antique and a gorgeous work of art. You will never tire of looking at this beautiful chest, it is so rich and beautiful. The highly burled walnut veneer over solid walnut drawer fronts is exquisite. The chest is solid walnut. Other than the drawer sides, drawer bottoms and drawer backs which are solid chestnut. The left side panel is the most gorgeous walnut side panel I have ever seen, no question about it. The burling looks like a storm cloud/ball of fire. The cabinet maker was not just a craftsman of the highest order, ... morehe was an artist as well. The side panels are 5/8 inch thick, cut as one plank of solid walnut. The top is solid walnut with a beautiful shaped edge. The drawer bottoms. Sides and backs are all made from solid chestnut(possibly oak)Old growth chestnut is highly sought after by wood lovers, it is virtually extinct, now being reclaimed at very high prices, these chestnut drawers that I hand rubbed a finish on, they are gorgeous. The chestnut drawers bottoms are chamfered by hand planing into the drawer sides. All of the drawers were restored, some drawer runners were replaced/restored. The lower drawers have some side to side movement when they slide due to age related shrinkage.Notice the tiny hand carved dovetail, a fine display of the highest level of craftsmanship. The blackened iron hardware is new.The finish was restored with many. Many coats of hand rubbed polyurethane bringing out the rich and beautiful walnut grains and textures.Rub your hands over the lovely textures and feel the wonderful walnut wood grain and hand rubbed finish. There is a cabinetmakers mark on the back of the top left drawer it is black ink and looks like a Roman letter capitol"E" with a&quo

American Queen Anne Cherry Highboy Antique Chest of Drawers, Connecticut 1740-80
Fine American Queen Anne Cherry Flat-Top Highboy. Connecticut c. 1740-80 Probably the area of Wethersfield. Connecticut; exhibiting Pinwheel& Sunburst drawers, the apron centrally serpentine over pad feet American Black Cherry Primaries; Tulip Poplar secondary woods Item# 130508QJB12 With a molded cornice projecting boldly over the pair of stacked drawers on either side flanking a square drawer with a spinning pinwheel decoration. The case exudes presence while exhibiting wonderful proportions at only 71 1/8" high. The pinwheel decoration is of inordinate fine quality, the tight rays graduating as they swell outward, these given a third dimension with the impression at the end of each ray; the effect creates a tubular shape, almost suggesting that these pipes swell from beneath the surface of the drawer. A pitch substance was rubbed ... moreinto these recesses to create the ebonized effect within the carvings. Each drawer in the top and base are crafted with poplar sides and bottoms, these deeply chamfered along the bottoms and sliding into the rabbeted sides. All drawer retain untouched original hardware. The drawer blades dividing each drawer join the sides of the case in tiny dovetails. Three horizontal backboards retain their untouched rosehead nails, the only change in two hundred and fifty years being the addition of three modern nails to the top edge of the top board for stability. The back of the Pinwheel decorated drawer is inscribed illegibly in chalk. Possibly noting" M_ certify that ma_ rg_ see image below. The base is constructed with pinned tenon-mortise joinery. Securing permanently the sides and front into the square legs; likewise, the single horizontal backboard joins into the legs and is secured with wooden pins from the back. The chest experienced some pest problems at some point early in it's life, with evidence of mouse chewing throughout the drawer bottoms and sides throughout the chest; as a result, pieces of the drawers are replaced where the damage was probably too ex

18TH CENTURY 2 OVER 3 FORMAT QUEEN ANNE PERIOD PINE DRESSER ON BRACKET BASE
MID 18TH CENTURY QUEEN ANNE PERIOD BRACKET BASE TWO OVER THREE DRESSER IN PINE With our compliments we are pleased to offer you this fabulous mid 18th Century Queen Anne period pine chest in a two over three drawer format with period brasses and bracket base. This is a wonderful chest with complete structural correctness other than the expected and within acceptable standards of period furniture maintenance of a back leg bracing and some tiny additions to the very ends of the front bracket pine bracket footings. We speculate that the base of the pine brackets probably took a bit of dry rot over the last 250 + years and it was very carefully restored. Why a scrap board with green paint was used on a back brace? Its a Vermont thing with Yankee thrift! This comes from a Quechee. Vermont estate and the entire period furniture collection was wonderfully ... morepure and well maintained. The chest has a superbly executed top with large finely detailed dovetailed joinery along with the chests body and the single board dovetailed base. It is adorned with lovely Queen Anne period pinned brasses and just a super New England first half of the 18th Century 1740-1750's dresser. All its drawer actions are smooth and this is a fully functioning chest with all original back& chamfered drawer panels. The chest accented with fabulous molding and is 37 1/4" long, 19 1/4" wide and stands 37 1/2" tall. This true& pure Queen Anne period chest is a bit of an oddity and this was no doubt crafted in a hold over technique used in the pre dating William& Mary period New England furniture. Walnut was the most common wood used in Queen Anne period furniture construction in the American Colonies. Pine cases are evidence of the most earliest periods in the Queen Anne furniture and decorative arts movement in America. When we initially encountered this chest we speculated it was a William& Mary chest with an excellent period modification from ball feet to a bracket base. After we got it on its back we discovered that
