Welcome to my auction! I am proud to be offering for your consideration this antique Victorian Walnut Gentlemans Chest circa 1870. This wonderful big tall chest was recently picked from an old Boston area home and is 100% ORIGINAL and in near mint shape! This piece has six drawers. The drawers are all in good condition and have early hand cut dovetails. The drawer fronts are decorated with two raised burled walnut panels each and all six original drawer locks are still present. It’s in overall good condition, ... morewith only a lamination seam in the thin crown molded top. There are also some little worm holes from a long time ago on the soft wood on the back, and there is a little repair on the molding on the right hand bottom by the foot. It comes with its original key, and all seven of the locks seem to work. Remember, however, that we don’t ever guarantee these old locks to work, and they should be oiled, adjusted, and repaired. It has seven drawers, each standing for a day of the week, and it purposely doesn’t have handles and needs to be locked and unlocked with a key. It has a crown molded top, and handcut dovetails. The interesting part of this chest is that where it comes apart, someone has inked his or her signature: D. Fredricksborg, as well as signing the backboards.
