The dresser offers 3 long locking drawers. Pin& cove(knapp joint) ends on the drawers. All the drawers have their locks intact but no key. The drawers feature an incredible matched set of 6 original period pulls in the Anglo Japanese Geisha Pattern probably manufactured by Russell& Erwin. The front of thedresser has beautiful incised floral and foliage carvings on the drawers. This chest is good quality, solid, sturdy and would make a great addition to any Victorian Decor. The Eastlake furniture style as envisioned by its namesake, Charles Lock Eastlake, came about in response to his dislike of the over-the-top Rococo and Renaissance Revival styles popular during ... morethe Victorian era. This mirror is made out of walnut and was constructed sometime in the 1860's. This shaving mirror follows the Victorian style. With intricately carved floral motifs in the sides that are holding up the mirror. There is a small pull out drawer at the bottom of the mirror for easy storage of toiletry items. This excellent mirror would make a great addition to any antique collection! Shows slight wear. Overall in VERY GOOD condition for its age. Measures 22 1/8" tall by 13 3/4" wide. Antique Mahogany Vanity W/mirror Circa 1880
This vanity I acquired from my grandmother about 40 years ago but that doesn't even begin to date it. It had originally belonged to her grandmother. It was built originally in the late 1800's. I dated it based on what could be found for it's style and that my grandmother remembered it when she was a young child. My grandmother was born in 1885. It came by horse and buggy from St Louis in 1898. It has had a couple of changes since then. One was new drawers in the 1930's and the other was a new mirror after arriving here as the original broke during the trip. The vanity will be shipped in one or two boxes. It has several small screws which will allow the legs to be removed as well as the drawers and mirror. It is a very simple task to reassemble and all pieces will be marked to be sure they are in the right place. The vanity ... moreis quite strong and the drawers slide easily. I would live to keep the piece but am needing to sell most things due to an upcoming move to much smaller space. You won't be disappointed and wether for yourself or a little girl to grow into this vanity will be a delight for many more decades.
