This mirror is supported on two uprights that have the original brass threaded cheval bolts with decorative knobs. It has its original gold gilt gesso liner and intracately original beveled mirror glass. This is a super attractive shaving mirror with an Ogee curved profiled front to the base containing three drawers. Two of the drawers(the righ and left sides) have been professionally rebuilt and restored in addition to all the four finely crafted bracket feet. These are period accurate feet for this mirror and a sizable investment has been made in correctly restoring the base of this mirror. The piece is coming up on 300 years old and pieces don't get this age without some issues and attention being paid to them. Fortunately this was a professional restoration and not some hack repair we inhertitated and need to have addressed. But we did pay appropriately for the pleasure. One other issue worthy of mention-at some point a previous owner had installed probably brass finials with threaded rods on the tops of the uprights. We are offering the way it is. If you would like finials we would be happy to direct you to several sources for them or have something custom turned by our woodworker. This is an fantastic piece and we were lucky to obtain it. This one drawer shaving or dresser mirror is by L. and J.G. ... moreStickley of Fayetteville. New York. It is a mid-century piece in their popular Cherry Valley collection and made from fine solid cherry wood. It is stamped"Stickley Fayetteville" on the reverse and the remnants of the original paper labels are on the inside of the drawer. Unfortunately the previous owner thought it was a good idea to put contact paper to line the drawer, of course ruining much of the label. This particular example is in a slightly darker cherry finish than many other Cherry Valley pieces. It stands about 23" tall, 18.5" wide, and about 8" deep. Condition wise this piece is generally in excellent shape. It appears to have been gently used. But overall there are no major problems. I did notice two very small dark spots on the mirror, but they are barely noticeable unless you give it a very close inspection. I couldn't see any real scratches or areas of finish loss. It is a solid piece that would go well in a variety of settings. I will ship USPS Economy. Thoroughly packed with the mirror removed and wrapped separately. Payment is expected within 7 days of auction close.

Great rich patina on original Mahogany wood finish. There is ordinary surface wear over the years where people have touched the knobs there is loss of color. The bottom corner of mirror frame has some cracking of the wood that doesn't show unless you get down on the floor and look up. The mirror appears to be the original glass with deterioration from behind which is typical of old mirrors. Could be easily replaced as back panel slides out easily. Has Rosewood veneer frame with one corner chipped that you can view in close up photo. There is also some veneer that is a little loose that could be glued down better if desired. Gothic influence with the Arch top. A row of ribbon molding across the bottom. Fond in NY and probably made by Meeks. This is a period piece from the 1830s or 40s. This beautiful 19th century pieces has wonderful details and we believe it to have its original finish. Beveled mirrors and brass hardware as well as the original velvet top on the storage area below the center mirror, and the original casters intact on the base.This splendid dressing vanity features great storage areas as well as the triple dressing mirrors that can be adjusted to different angles.just a fabulous piece for a dressing room or bedroom. This vanity measures 72 1/2 inches in height from the floor to the top of the cheval mirror at the center. Height from the floor to the top of the sides with the four drawers measures 32 inches, with a total width of 74 inches with the mirrors at the sides opened,50 ... moreinches wide with the mirrors folded back, with a total depth front to back of 20 3/4 inches and this piece weighs approximately 135 lbs total but does disassemble into 6 pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving. The cheval mirror at the center measures(actual mirror portion) 54 3/4 inches in height by 17 1/4 inches wide. Each of the folding side mirrors measures 51 1/4 inches high by 9 inches wide. Height from the floor to the top of the lift up storage compartment below the cheval mirror is 6 inches. The center cheval mirror pivots front to back to adjust for viewing and nestled in the pierced carved sides are 2 small storage cabinets each with the original beveled mirrors on the front. antique r j horner mahogany swan head cheval mirror heavily carved ball and claw
up for auction is just about as nice of a antique empire heavily carved swan head cheval mirror as you will find. i listed it as r j horner. it has a mirror frame like horner and actually the carving and swan's heads are like horner's pieces. But the piece was made in the south. horner was in new york, the northern folks used acanthus leaves for their carvings, the southern ones used tobacco leaves. well this piece has tobacco leaves. it is possible that horner did this special order for someone in the south or who had southern sentiments. at any rate, the carvings and details can not be surpassed. if it is southern empire it was probably made about 1870, if it is horner special order it was probably made about 1890. i hope the pictures give the descriptions of the details of the swan's head and other carvings on the base and ... morethe double stretcher. the feet are ball and claw at their best. it is 74 inches tall, 36 inches wide, and 25 inches deep. the mirror frame alone is 65 inches tall by 29 inches wide. great piece and in wonderful condition, the only defect is a few small chips of veneer gone on the edge of the frame and a couple of small pieces on the top. the wood has been stained and if i didn't tell you, doubtful you would ever know. nothing can be seen when using the mirror the way it should be situated. otherwise the piece is in mint condition, the small chips i mention just to be 100 percent accurate, they mean nothing, can not be seen, and take nothing away from the structure or function of the mirror. the item may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. good luck. i just bought a meek's 5 piece parlor set and have no where to put it, so i need to clear out a few items to make room for this stanton hall set. by the way, i looked at the pictures on the listing, one of the veneer chips can be seen in the last picture of the close up of the swan's head. the chip is right above the neck of the swan which is above the glass knob of the mirror set screw. there ar

From antiques estate! seems to be mahogany, a nice dark wood, with nice patina brass drawer knobs and swivel hardware for the mirror. so much detail work in the carving of the reeded cheval brace topped with the beautiful pineapple finials. Click on photos for close up view! There is a slight overall haze in the mirror's silvering, commensurates with the true turn of century glass mirrors. This is about 18 inches tall x 19 inches wide x 12 inches deep. A couple very minor knicks and a burnt burl spot on the flat surface-see photos. Beautiful wood. this appears to have been gently used. Lovely design. Weighs about 18 lbs.
