This is a high-quality chest on chest in the William and Mary style. I am not sure who made this, but the secondary wood is all tiger sawn oak which is a sign of high quality. It has the William and Mary style typical Jacobean style looking base joined together with the appropriate looking cross stretchers. It has three drawers along the base of the cabinet and the top has three large drawers and two small drawers. The drawers are dainty picture frame molded and dove tail. The locks are all there, but we do not have a key.

Welcome to my auction! I am proud to be offering for your consideration this antique Victorian Walnut Gentlemans Chest circa 1870. This wonderful big tall chest was recently picked from an old Boston area home and is 100% ORIGINAL and in near mint shape! This piece has six drawers. The drawers are all in good condition and have early hand cut dovetails. The drawer fronts are decorated with two raised burled walnut panels each and all six original drawer locks are still present. The original brass and wood drawer pulls are a rare smaller version of the victorian tear drop pulls. Flanking the drawers are beautiful vertical burled columns. This chest is deeper and larger than most, heavier too! It is of great quality and retains a very nice original finish. It was love at first sight when I met this Bureau/ Chest of Drawers. Circa 1890.needing to be loving restored to a majestic chest once again. I lovingly and meticulously restored this chest from top to bottom. Respecting it as the wonderful antique treasure it is.You can easily see it is a"chest on chest" style. It features beautiful walnut veneers and solid walnut woods. The solid brass hardware is all original and very intricate. Stunning really. I buffed it back to full glory. The lower drawers have a carving which outlines all the lower drawers together(see photo)There is a very small squiggle in the carving(close up photo) which was done by the maker on the lower drawer, it adds great character. No one has ever noticed it until I pointed it out to them. All of the drawers& glides/runners have been fully restored and slide ... moreexcellent. The Sheraton style legs with fluted corner posts enhance the lines of this chest.I restored the finish using many. Many coats of hand rubbed satin varnish which bringing out the gorgeous walnut grains. Built like a tank from all hardwood construction. I custom made the small piece of walnut trim in front of the backsplash.The two small doors are a very unique feature. I installed new magnetic catches for the doors. All of the drawers feature lock and keyed dovetail joinery. Strong, solid and secure displaying the finest craftsmanship by the maker. I restored the inside of all the drawers with the same hand rubbed satin finish as the exterior of the chest.The drawer bottoms are rich& beautiful grained mahogany. Like any fine antique.You will find character marks and minor imperfections in the this piece, such as nick, dings, filled holes, they add character and patina to this wonderful chest. There is a black mark on the third drawer down and a few small dings here and there. The right side has a square of different colored finish in the back near the top and a repair at the back of the top moulding. Otherwise, this antique mahogany tall chest of drawers is in very good condition and ready to go right into your home and be used. The insides of the drawers are clean. Antique Highboy Chest/Dresser Bonnet-ed Top Mahogany circa 1790 -1840
Great piece for an Antique Dealers show room. Antique Bonnet-ed Mahogany Highboy 1790- 1840. Found in an estate in Munson Township. Geauga County, Ohio. We have gone over this piece extensively, and so have many other professionals in the appraisal business, and they are confident it is an original built sometime between 1790- 1840 most likely in Connecticut. Local appraised value of this piece is $15K-$25K. It is a very ornate, all hand carved, which is uncommon for these types of highboys. Only other one we have found online that even comes close to looking like this one is in an antique shop in New York City. The piece is in very good condition for its age. Does have wood cracks and chips here and there from being moved over the last 175 years or so. On a scale of 1-10 on condition this piece is an easy 8. Unique and Stunning antique Mahogany and Birch Chest on Chest Highboy c. 1860's
I am offering up for auction a very beautiful antique chest on chest Highboy that was handmade 150 to 175 years ago. It is very unique with the 2 tone coloring and the intricate sunburst type design on the bottom drawer. I think this 2 tone coloring is called banded. The sunburst or compass rose type design is actually concave creating a half circle indentation. It is 6 feet 2 3/4 inches tall. It measures about 18 1/2 inches deep and 43 3/4 inches wide across the band below the very top. It has varying widths due to chest on bottom then a"waistline" so to speak( 45 1/2 inches) where 2 chests meet then the chest on top then the top piece of trim which is the same 45 1/2 inches as the middle. As you can see from the photo it is loaded with drawers! There are 3 small on top then 3 long ones below that makes up the top chest then the ... morebottom chest is 2 drawers then 2 larger drawers. I am not an antique expert. But I took some of the drawers to a well established reputable antique dealer in our area and it was said that it was a handmade piece of furniture probably about 150 to 175 years old made of mahogany and birch. The drawers are dovetailed as you can see in the photos. It has the bracket style feet. I am not certain about the hardware on the piece. The hardware looks old but the screws that hold them on are not, so the screws have been replaced. Each drawer(10) has a place that looks like a key would fit in to lock them, but this is just for decoration. It is in excellent condition showing only a few blemishes on the feet and around the bottom edge as I have shown in the photos.
