The highboy is in good condition, however, there are a lot of light surface ... morescratches to the finish from general use over many years. It also has a small area of veneer loss at the top corner. I am unsure of the age or manufacture of the piece. It has the look of a chest on chest piece but it is actually a one piece chest, with five (5) drawers. It is made of solid wood, and has a maple veneer finish and dovetail joints on the drawers. The piece sits on bracket feet and is sturdy and stable. It is 52" tall, with the lower portion being about 30" tall. It is 19.5" wide from front to back, and 32.5" long side to side. It is a nice chest of drawers that will be a beautiful addition to your home with a little TLC.

Miniature American Classical(Late Federal) Mahogany Chest of Drawers New England c. 1810-20 Item# 130105RQY17 This is a very fine American Classical(Late Federal) Mahogany Chest of Drawers. A Salesman's Sample of Miniature dimensions c. 1810-20. It is crafted of solid mahogany(top, sides, drawer fronts, drawer secondaries, columns) mahogany veneers(stile facings on right and left of drawers and drawer blades) white pine secondaries(back, bottom, interior blocking) rosewood(knobs) and unidentified stringer inlays(appear to be holly or satinwood) The top is rectangular in form. Projecting over the front and sides with tight turrets at the corners over spiral-turned columns- these complex formations transition from a series of tight ring turnings into the spiral balusters over tiny urns and completed with a series of complex ring turnings ... moreover cork feet. The columns define the chest, greatly elevating the form with tasteful embellishment that does not distract from the overall composition. The graduated two over three drawers retain their original rosewood knobs, these flanking the inverted tear-drop escutcheons and framed as a whole in the rectangular stringer inlays. Dovetail construction dominates the chest. Through dovetails securing the sides of the case to the bottom and presumably to the interior framing upon which the top is set(unable to verify without removing the top) The back board is deeply chamfered to slide into rabbets in the sides and is secured with glued blocks inside the case and tacks along the lower edge. The drawers are likewise dovetailed front and back, the bottom board on four of the five with mitered edges to slide into rabbeted drawer sides: one of the tiny drawers varies in construction from the other four. The bottom board is chamfered along the edges, sliding into rabbets in the drawer sides. Here we have a very Rare Empire Dresser for your consideration. This is a very fine Wishbone Mirrored Dresser with side wig curio cabinets. These dressers have always been the Cadilac of Empire Dressers. But this one is one of the finest we have ever seen. The burled or Flame Mahogany is fantastic. The colors are just beautiful. We do not have the exact history. But the party we bought the dresser from, told us that this dresser was saved in Katrina from the Huricane in New Orleans. It was transported north and sold to raise money for the people who once owned it there. We bought it from the next party who purchased it. The dresser is of such fine quality, and has all original parts. The only thing it may need is some new screws in the back when the wig cabinets mount. At the moment it is all assembled and they were not needed. But when the ... moredresser comes to its new home, that is one addition we would suggest is new screws in the back area. The wood on every side is pristine on this piece. The only thing you would find is normal wear from a dresser of such a grand age. All that is needed is a nice polish and this piece is ready to set up and be displayed with pride. The dresser is 77" tall by 43" wide by 21" deep. The mirror attaches on each curio side with wooden screws and original knobs. The drawer fronts have the carving at the top and bottoms and the matched grain of the wood is outstanding. This piece could be by the famous cabinet maker Thomas Day. As even the sides of the dresser have fantastic matched graining. The hand made dove tails and brass locks, are all top notch and fine quality. The marble top inset is beautiful thick Italian Marble with nice grain and detail. There are no chips, nor cracks on the marble. It could use a polish from a marble professional. But the patina and wear only adds charactor to the piece. The drawers are all working and in great condition. The piece is not on rollers, and we have not turned it over to see if it ever had them or not. We are selling this beauti

This is another item I am listing for a neighbor/friend. His parents purchased this at an auction about 40 yrs ago and at that time it was said to be about 100 yrs old. Sheraton Style Mahogany Chest of Drawers from CT ca 1800
This is your chance to own a piece of Connecticut history. This bureau is a family heirloom coming from an 18th century farm in Old Lyme. It is in very good condition for a piece that is about 200 years old. The top drawer is faced with crotch-split mahogany surrounded by inlay. Each drawer face is framed with beading. The beading is missing in a couple of places from use over the years. Each of the drawers has a lock but we have no keys for them. The hollow brass hardware is original to the piece. Some of the pulls will need repair but the brass is all there. The varnish is crazed from age and it may be the original finish. The mahogany is split in a couple of places from age and there are a couple of nicks in the veneer, all adding to the patina of the piece. The drawers are constructed of poplar. I believe it is empire style. It measures 8 1/2" wide by 8 3/3" high by 4" deep. drawers are all dovetailed by hand and square head nails used for the other parts. There is grooves on the top drawers where I believe there was a mirror at one time which has been long lost. It is missing one pull and I don't know if they are original. One leg is missing in the back. the piece does have a piece off of the front edge of the top. I believe it is the original finish with wear from the years. This wonderful big tall chest was recently picked from an old Boston area home and is 100% ORIGINAL and in near mint shape! This piece has six drawers. The drawers are all in good condition and have early hand cut dovetails. The drawer fronts are decorated with two raised burled walnut panels each and all six original drawer locks are still present. The original brass and wood drawer pulls are a rare smaller version of the victorian tear drop pulls. Flanking the drawers are beautiful vertical burled columns. This chest is deeper and larger than most, heavier too! It is of great quality and retains a very nice original finish. Beautiful piece of furniture. 19x35x34.5" Vintage chest of drawers. Refered to as Rustic, or Cowboy or even Lodge pieces. Was at Garner State Park and has writing where people had stayed there. When we received this piece they had put vinyl on the top and it was horrible. We removed it and our intention was to just put a finish on it, but I laid a piece of leather on it and wow it was beautiful. So it stayed. It was made for and was in a state park here in Texas until they had to remodel the cabins. The top drawer has some writing, which I left alone. It is made of cypresss. The original finish is very well preserved on this European furniture. Waxed and buffed. Only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain the warm honeyed patina. early empire mahogany chest dresser turned columns very early period piece
for sale a very early empire chest of drawers or dresser. made of mahogany. this piece is as old as dirt. the drawer bottoms and the back of the chest is all hand chamfered. the joints are all hand cut dovetails. what few nails were used to stabilize the bottom of the drawers to the back are square nails. it features four drawers. None the same size. one large one on the top that is stepped out under which are situated two nicely spiral turned columns which come to rest on a platform that the turned front legs affix to. back legs are also turned. the feet or legs all have casters inserted in them. there is a molded trim along the bottom of the chest. it has a few minor dings here and there, none of which take away from its function or beauty plus there are a couple of small pieces of boards chipped out. they are all small and doubtful any ... morewill show in the pictures. it was faded and sun bleached when i dug it out of the barn. i cleaned it with new life and then rubbed a bit of stain on it and sprayed it with lacquer to dry the stain. i do not think it has ever been refinished. at any rate, it is a nice solid very old dresser. i am starting it for less than i paid years ago. 500 back then would make a pretty good down payment on a new car. it is a fairly large chest being 22.5 inches deep, 43 inches wide, and 48 inches tall. overall a very nice hand crafted empire chest made circa 1860. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyers expense. good luck.

Striped or curly grain maple about 1825 in New England, this understated chest or dresser has glowing antique patina. The glowing finish is in excellent condition with just enough mars at the edges for antique character. Cut from a single wide plank. The top has an old hand carved plug at the back, whether as a repair or to fill a knot, we will never know. Entirely hand planed with some square nail heads visible, drawers have chamfered bottoms and hand cut dovetail joints. The right side has a shrinkage separation from age. Early American Empire Mahogany Chest With Sandwich Glass Pulls
Very nice empire chest ready for another 150 yrs of service. This chest dates from about 1850-60 and is all hand dove tailed and hand chamfered bottoms and side panels. We restored it back to a wonderful condition. We do the drawers inside and out also look at the backs of our furniture they are finished too. We do not skimp on anything when it come to bringing a piece back to life. These chests are near indestructible and withstand a ton of abuse, yet they are beautiful! Original porcelain key hole escutcheons which you rarely see. The sandwich glass knobs are reproductions but of high quality and correct for the period. I have for sale an antique chest of drawers/ dresser. Made of pine. It is built in the French provincial/ Swedish country style. It has five drawers. It is missing one knob. The knobs are not original. They were purchased at Anthropologie store. The chest is 50" tall. 34" wide, and 18" deep. Each drawer has inner dimension of: 27" wide. 14" deep and 7" tall. Bachelor's Highboy Chest....antique dresser chest of drawers...Circa 1890
It was love at first sight when I met this Bureau/ Chest of Drawers. Circa 1890.needing to be loving restored to a majestic chest once again. I lovingly and meticulously restored this chest from top to bottom. Respecting it as the wonderful antique treasure it is.You can easily see it is a"chest on chest" style. It features beautiful walnut veneers and solid walnut woods. The solid brass hardware is all original and very intricate. Stunning really. I buffed it back to full glory. The lower drawers have a carving which outlines all the lower drawers together(see photo)There is a very small squiggle in the carving(close up photo) which was done by the maker on the lower drawer, it adds great character. No one has ever noticed it until I pointed it out to them. All of the drawers have been fully restored and slide excellent. The Sheraton ... morestyle legs with fluted corner posts enhance the lines of this chest.I restored the finish using many, many coats of hand rubbed satin varnish which bringing out the gorgeous walnut grains. Built like a tank from all hardwood construction. I custom made the small piece of walnut trim in front of the backsplash.The two small doors are a very unique feature. I installed new magnetic catches for the doors. All of the drawers feature lock and keyed dovetail joinery. Strong, solid and secure displaying the finest craftsmanship by the maker. I restored the inside of all the drawers with the same hand rubbed satin finish as the exterior of the chest.The drawer bottoms are rich& beautiful grained mahogany. Like any fine antique.You will find character marks and minor imperfections in the this piece, such as nick, dings, filled holes, they add character and patina to this wonderful chest. The chest is rock solid, stable and ready to"set it and forget it" there are no issues needing attention, just use it and enjoy it for years to come.This chest has been restored with the highest level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
