Period brass tear drop pulls and pin& cove(knapp joint) ends on the drawers. All the drawers have their locks intact but no key. The front of the chest has beautiful incised carvings on the drawers and wood escutcheons. This chest is good quality, solid, sturdy and would make a great addition to any Victorian Decor. This lovely dressing mirror has its original finish with warm rich patina and original beveled mirror and brass casters intact on all four feet and the original. Beautiful brass butterfly mirror mounts at the side. This 19th century cheval mirror would make a fantastic addition to a Bedroom or Dressing room and offers classic style and elegance. This mirror measures 71 1/2 inches from the floor to the top of the mirror.A total width at the base of 26 1/4 inches, 15 1/2 inches from front to back between the feet on the base. This piece of marble weighs about 100 lbs itself. The first drawer opens to a solid piece of burl or birdseye maple. That is a sign of quality as that was an expensive wood. The two drawer pulls in the top drawer are original. There are four larger pulls that were used in the two lower drawers but are missing pieces. It has 5 graduated drawers and under the top drawer is a pull out flat shelf for writing or folding clothes(see pic 4) The front stiles have nice Aesthetic carvings at the top and the sides are recessed rectangular panels surrounded by molding. Plinth base and raised on casters. The stamped brass bail handles and backplates have a wonderful scenic design. Offered for auction is this nice large walnut mirror frame that attaches to the top of a chest of drawers. Two walnut supports with brass turn screw attachments support the mirror frame(no mirror) The supports have screw holes in the bases of them to be screwed down to the top of the chest. Mirror can be angled up or down with the brass adjustment handles. Dimensions are: 51 inches wide. 19 inches front to back and 33 inches at the tallest point. There was a worn piece of wrapping paper around this little mirror. And just one piece of it was saved. The last photo shows that paper! It has"1 Augest Thonsen 1878" That's what it looks like to me, but maybe I'm not seeing it correctly! The overall size of this old mirror is 8" x 14 1/2" tall. The actual mirror size is 5 1/2" x 9 3/4" tall. An expert said it is diamond dust, but I can't guarantee that. The best way to tell if it really is diamond dust is when it's damaged. This one is in encased in wood with screws and has been in a dry climate(Denver) for over 136 years, so there's no damage! The"burled" walnut is a veneer, and that's easy to see when you look at the back of it! It is in overall excellent condition although it does have a few nicks and scratches. The drawers measure 40 in. wide. 17 in. deep and 30 in. tall. The mirror adds another 40 in. to the overall height. If my description is in any way lacking. Please do not hesitate to send me a message and ask. I bought this from an old timer here in Hatfield and it was his mother's. That makes me the second owner. It dates to 1888-99 based on the scallop. And pin joinery shown in the drawers. It is all original. All drawers work well. One of the drawers has a square of yellow paint on the inside front. Also. There is one solid brass drawer pull that does not match all the others. I found. A semi match in a salvage shop in Aurora. Oregon. I currently have this piece in my living room and it looks gorgeous. Way to nice. To have tucked away in a bedroom. 41.5"inches across. 20.75"inches deep. 29.5"inches tall. Drawers are 35.75 by 15"inches with 5.5"inch depth. The drawers of this furniture are joined pin and dovetail. Pin and Cove Dove tail: This is the tale-tell sign of the date of this piece of furniture. The drawers of this piece are joined with a pin and cove dovetail. This joining technique was the very first dovetail for factory manufactured Eastlake furniture. It only lasted 10 years and one can be quite sure that the date of a pin and cove joined Eastlake drawer is between 1890 and 1900.
