French Louis XVI Style Carved and Gilded Antique Settee(Sofa. Canape, Loveseat) Probably France. C. 1900-15 Item# 130001KKG27 This is a very fine French Louis XVI Style Antique Settee with Gilded Carved surfaces. Crafted during the first years of the 20th Century at the end of the Rococo Revival period, c. 1900-15. It is an exceptional piece in every way, the molding work on every exposed surface is simply above reproach. The crest rail is bowed with an unusual carved design at the apex, lifting in swirls and actually flowing up and over the back of the settee. This is flanked on each corner with highly detailed acorn finials over floral carvings that fall along the stiles. The arms are likewise decorated, the handholds with carved acanthus leaves, the arm supports with scaled molding over acanthus foliage at the knees. The apron of the antique french settee is a complex infiniti-motif closed on each end with swirled-rosettes at the knees. French Louis XV Style Carved and Painted Antique Settee Early 20th Century Item# 130008SIU26 A very attractive antique settee of the French Louis XV taste. This is a lovely piece that exhibits all typical elements of the Rococo movement, but clearly with an angularity that speaks of influence from the Art Deco movement. The frame of the antique French settee is painted in a tarnished silver, this delightfully worn away in well used areas, resulting in a nice growing patina throughout. Resting over the trapezoidal seat back. The crest is carved of the solid with several roses that flow outward into the molded frame with foliage, flanked only by pyramid finials draped in acanthus leafage at each corner. These vary in detail, some parts of the finials being of incredible depth and multiple layers of acanthus, while others are somewhat blurry- ... morethis is likely accounted for by overpainting at one point, where too much paint was used and resulted in a"blurring" of what is likely very fine detail beneath the paint. The arms bend out around the round seat in a highly circular movement, the handholds carved with scaled embellishments along the grip and down the arm support, the paint on these somewhat worn away to reveal the(presumably) beech frame beneath. The legs have robust acanthus leafage flowing from the knee along the frame as they join the seat. Each foot terminating in scrolled toes in the Louis XV manner. The frame is heavily carved solid walnut beneath a light layer of gesso and is covered in an oxidized and worn gilding. Carved in the typical Louis XVI manner. The frame is molded with rope carvings around the entirety of it and is crested by a twisted ribbon wreath. Resting over tapered and fluted legs and terminating in balled stumps, the settee remains incredibly sturdy and strong; it is very comfortable and supportive for lounging and relaxing, despite having been designed primarily as a stunning decorative work. Antique Louis XV Serpentine Sofa
I am looking to sell my antique sofa. I am no expert. But I believe it is from anywhere between 1890- 1930. I am not sure if the upholstery is original or not. This particular style is rare to find. It is good to be used as is and is actually very comfortable. However, the middle cabriole leg was damaged during a move and so it was screwed in place where the wood had cracked. The wood frame also has some scratches here and there, but is solid. The cushions are slightly torn on the bottom as illustrated in the picture. Overall, it is in decent shape, and if fully restored could be worth a lot more. I can help deliver curbside from my elevator building. It is approximately 78" long and easily sits three.

They connect to the bottom frame of the sofa(also of walnut) which has a carved floral motif in the front center. With smaller floral rosette like carvings topping the 2 front feet. Between the side and rear legs the curvy/wavy carved wood design flourishes, and is accented beautifully by the double piping upholstery which runs perpendicular. 1940's classic hand carved french empire revival sofa in excellent condition beautiful dark red cotton velvet and down filled cushion. No stains smells fading rips(there is a small tag tucked between the cushion in first pic but it is not attached) No scuffs on wood.All legs are tight and sturdy,wood has the original finish. There are pale diagonal threads running through the piping to create a distressed appearance. 7' wide x 39" height x 30" deep. First photo of half sofa is the true color of fabric. ANTIQUE FRENCH LOUIS XV STYLE CHAISE LOUNGE SOFA CHAIR EXCELLENT
This is a gorgeous chaise in the style of Louis the XV. I purchased it in an antique shop in Hudson New York and was told it was from to early 1900's. It is upholstered in a lovely blue floral fabric. The wood frame is cream with blue trim. It is in immaculate condition. The chaise is full length it measures about 52 inches long by 26 inches wide it is 31 inches high to top of the crest and to the top of the cushion it is 17 1/2 inches. I paid over $1200 for this chaise and am only selling it as I am downsizing. This chaise would look wonderful in a bedroom or living room. It is kept in a pet free and smoke free home.
