The sofa is all tight and sturdy. The overall size is 68 inches wide on the outside of the arms, 48 inches wide on the inside of the arms, 28 inches deep, 38 inches high to the crest, 23 inches high to the arms and 16 inches high to the seat. The measurements are approximately 56" long, 22.5" wide and 40" tall. Overall it is in great antique condition. The upholstery is fine. The pink gimp ribbon has one frayed area on the back on the piece and one area that was reattached in the center front where a persons legs would hit it. C. 1900-15 Item# 130001KKG27 This is a very fine French Louis XVI Style Antique Settee with Gilded Carved surfaces. Crafted during the first years of the 20th Century at the end of the Rococo Revival period, c. 1900-15. It is an exceptional piece in every way, the molding work on every exposed surface is simply above reproach. The crest rail is bowed with an unusual carved design at the apex, lifting in swirls and actually flowing up and over the back of the settee. This is flanked on each corner with highly detailed acorn finials over floral carvings that fall along the stiles. The arms are likewise decorated, the handholds with carved acanthus leaves, the arm supports with scaled molding over acanthus foliage at the knees. The modern upholstery ... moreis a soft yellow with collections of fruits and foliage throughout, a comfortable stuffed back and a somewhat more supportive and firm seat. The apron of the antique french settee is a complex infiniti-motif closed on each end with swirled-rosettes at the knees. The entire sofa resting over twist-turned tapered legs terminating in plain ball feet. This is a very fine antique french settee. Crafted entirely by hand with utmost precision and care during an important revival of the French styles. With a wealth of demand for revivals of the 18th Century works, many very high quality pieces were renewed during this era, much of it brought into the States to satisfy the significant demand of discerning clients during the period. French Louis XV Style Antique Settee Sofa Canape, Carved, Gilded & Painted
French Louis XV Style Carved and Painted Antique Settee Early 20th Century Item# 130008SIU26 A very attractive antique settee of the French Louis XV taste. This is a lovely piece that exhibits all typical elements of the Rococo movement, but clearly with an angularity that speaks of influence from the Art Deco movement. The frame of the antique French settee is painted in a tarnished silver, this delightfully worn away in well used areas, resulting in a nice growing patina throughout. Resting over the trapezoidal seat back. The crest is carved of the solid with several roses that flow outward into the molded frame with foliage, flanked only by pyramid finials draped in acanthus leafage at each corner. These vary in detail, some parts of the finials being of incredible depth and multiple layers of acanthus, while others are somewhat blurry- ... morethis is likely accounted for by overpainting at one point, where too much paint was used and resulted in a"blurring" of what is likely very fine detail beneath the paint. The arms bend out around the round seat in a highly circular movement, the handholds carved with scaled embellishments along the grip and down the arm support, the paint on these somewhat worn away to reveal the(presumably) beech frame beneath. The legs have robust acanthus leafage flowing from the knee along the frame as they join the seat. Each foot terminating in scrolled toes in the Louis XV manner. For anyone passionate about the Louis XV style in antique seating furniture. This is a simply lovely antique settee to be actively enjoyed. The upholstery should be replaced in our opinion, though it does seem relatively free of stains. Check our inventory to see if we still have the matching pair of antique fauteuils available, as they being catalogued separately from the settee. We are pleased to offer this beautiful antique(late 19th century) chaise chair/sofa. This is a stunning piece that features an ornate. French Nouveau carved wood frame and tall cane back. The chaise is quite large, measuring 6 feet in length. The seating area is covered in a beautiful fabric with French styling. There are 8 legs which feature block and turned wood. Arched, carved wood stretchers attach in between each leg on the long sides. There are stretcher supports that also run under the chaise, but these are not decorative. The chaise has been painted white(not sure if it is original) It is in good antique condition. The paint is chipping/peeling. The cane in intact with a small worn area in the center. As expected, It is not as taut as it once was but it is not loose and is still attached. The frame is good with some"wiggle" ... moredo to its age. This can be resolved. The fabric is probably vintage as it is in very good condition with no rips, stains, etc. There is nail head trim which is also older. This is a gorgeous, old chaise with beautiful lines and aged charm. As stated. The chaise is quite large and measures 6 feet in length. It is 21" wide at the back. This is an amazing antique sofa recently reupholstered in silver velvet. We estimate it to be maybe 100 years old or more. It was an amazing find at an estate sale. We had it completely reupholstered. Including the three pillows with striped silk and gold edging. This sofa is very massive and heavy. It probably weighs around 200-300 pounds. Structurally very solid. Not wobbly or unsteady. Built to last! We would keep it but we are moving to a smaller place and it simply won't fit. Check the dimensions! This sofa is a real antique; has been in the family for over 50 years. And had a life before that. This sofa must be picked up; it cannot and will not be delivered. It is located in the northern part of Vermont. Not far from the Canadian border, near Jay Peak Ski resort, zip code 05471. Only Cash or PayPal accepted when picking it up. Checks of any type will not be accepted. Sofa is 65" long. 46.5" high. It ranges from 23-29" in depth. As the back angles outward. Structurally it is sound and firm. It is spectacular, heavenly curves, vivid colors and rock solid construction. It leans to the left when seated, it has an affixed upholstery(not removable) and an extra head pillow. The upholstery is the stark celeste blue color with embroidered white thread floral motifs throughout, the fabric alone to buy today is more than I'm asking for the piece.
