Have a look at the gorgeous Tiger Stripe grain figure throughout; with beautiful Incised& Leaf carvings& ribbed apron base. A couple small bits of carving on the corners missing, touched up to blend. The upholstery is not original, re-done at some point in time but it is cheerful& perfectly servicable with no holes, tears or odors. The upholstery could be easily recovered in you choose. Although there is no mattress.I guess there must have been some padding at one time. Im sure you creative types out there can figure out exactly how this originally functioned. When open, the front section is webbed& has inner springs, perhaps the back section also did at one time. There is a heavy iron center latch& thick iron fold-down corner supports. On the one side you can see 2 folding iron frames that come to rest at an angle, presumably as headrests. This settee is a rare find for sure as I have never come across one that the arms adjust( by lifting up on the arms) allowing the settee to transform into a chaise lounge! How unique! The arms adjust to several different positions as I have tried to show in the pictures allowing this settee to be a great versatile piece. The back features a lovely carved crest rail. With carvings on the front of the arms and a nicely carved seat-rail with carved paw front feet. We are pleased to offer this beautiful antique(late 19th century) Victorian chaise chair/sofa. This is a stunning piece that features an ornate. Carved wood frame and tall cane back. The chaise is quite large, measuring 6 feet in length. The seating area is covered in a beautiful fabric with French, Neoclassical pattern. There are 8 legs which feature block and turned wood. Arched, carved wood stretchers attach in between each leg on the long sides. There are stretcher supports that also run under the chaise, but these are not decorative. The chaise has been painted white(not sure if it is original) It is in good antique condition. The paint is chipping/peeling. The cane in intact with a small worn area in the center. As expected, It is not as taut as it once was but it is not loose and is still attached. The frame is good with some"wiggle" ... moredo to its age. The fabric is probably vintage as it is in very good condition with no rips, stains, etc. There is nail head trim which is also older. This is a gorgeous,old chaise with beautiful lines and aged charm. This style has been replicated many times by such designers as Aiden Gray. This is the original! This is a fabulous accent piece! As stated. The chaise is quite large and measures 6 feet in length. It is 21" wide at the back. The seat is 18" tall, 20.75" wide and 59" long.
