I have never seen an antique chaise lounge/ fainting ... morecouch quite like this before. Featuring beautiful& solid Tiger Stripe Oak construction. It opens up to become a bed! Have a look at the gorgeous Tiger Stripe grain figure throughout; with beautiful Incised& Leaf carvings& ribbed apron base. A couple small bits of carving on the corners missing, touched up to blend. The upholstery is not original, re-done at some point in time but it is cheerful& perfectly servicable with no holes, tears or odors. The upholstery could be easily recovered in you choose. Although there is no mattress.I guess there must have been some padding at one time. Im sure you creative types out there can figure out exactly how this originally functioned. When open, the front section is webbed& has inner springs, perhaps the back section also did at one time. There is a heavy iron center latch& thick iron fold-down corner supports. On the one side you can see 2 folding iron frames that come to rest at an angle, presumably as headrests. The sofa measures 72.5 inches long, 21.5 inches deep& 33 inches high with a 23 inch high pillow end& 16 inch high seat. It opens to 40 inches by 67 inches(plus the"pillow" frames) Rest on very finely turned, solid Oak legs. Overall Beautiful shape& design and is perfectly proportioned. This is a stunning beautifully crafted antique wicker chaise and chair from no later than the 1920's. These pieces are both spring set and have the original horsehair pads that were recovered many years ago with these vintage quilted and floral fabrics and the original fabric still remains underneath. The set is clean and has no odors. The frames and springs are sturdy and the cushions are excellent although a small amount of insignificant stain can be found. These pieces have such great vintage character and need no restoration unless you want to perfect the paint or recover the cushions. Antique Wood & Caned Wicker Adjustable Chaise Lounge-Brass Fittings
Up for auction is an antique wooden chaise lounge with a caned wicker bottom. I have no idea of the age. Just that it was given to me over 30 years ago and was old then. It is wooden, not sure the type of wood. The bottom is caned wicker. The back piece is adjustable with a brass arm that fits into brass fittings for different heights. At the top it sits at approximately a 90 degree angle and at the bottom it goes flat. It measures 68 inches long, 26 inches wide and 30 and 1/2 inches tall(measuring at the tallest part near the headrest) The wicker is in great condition, no broken areas, feels strong and looks good. Hi for sale I have a handmade small child size chaise lounge or for a large doll. I think this piece makes a great dog bed. I have one similar at my home. It is placed in front of my door wall and my Bostons love to sit in it and watch birds& squirrels. This piece looks to be handmade. It measures: 18" tall at the neck rest, 35" long x 15" deep. The seat height is 14" from the ground. Please not that the piece is old and shows wear. Has some minor stains on the fabric. This piece could easily be recovered. We are pleased to offer this beautiful antique(late 19th century) Victorian chaise chair/sofa. This is a stunning piece that features an ornate. Carved wood frame and tall cane back. The chaise is quite large, measuring 6 feet in length. The seating area is covered in a beautiful fabric with French, Neoclassical pattern. There are 8 legs which feature block and turned wood. Arched, carved wood stretchers attach in between each leg on the long sides. There are stretcher supports that also run under the chaise, but these are not decorative. The chaise has been painted white(not sure if it is original) It is in good antique condition. The paint is chipping/peeling. The cane in intact with a small worn area in the center. As expected, It is not as taut as it once was but it is not loose and is still attached. The frame is good with some"wiggle" ... moredo to its age. The fabric is probably vintage as it is in very good condition with no rips, stains, etc. There is nail head trim which is also older. The surface is finished in an extremely attractive and vibrant burnished gilding. The crest is intricately carved with upward sprawling acanthus leafage along the twisted rope-and-ball framing, flowing around the entire outer frame and apron of the canapé. The acanthus leafage is repeated throughout, flowing down the handholds, climbing up the arm supports, lifting the medallion back and draping from the turned legs. Each portion of the canapé is handsomely embellished. The frame is a beautiful mahogany and it is currently upholstered with a striped fabric. This is a very sturdy sofa that was made with a stout frame. The fabric shows a little more white and less dirty than it appears in real life. The two cylinder shaped cushions are included. They do come off. They are not sewn into place. A great selection of mahogany was used to build the frame and has some very nice hand carved detail to it. Both the back rest and the arm rests are detailed with flora-like carvings that really help accent the overall elegant shape of the chaise. Four turned feet keep the entire piece sturdy and strong. The frame is in excellent condition with only a few minor wear marks here and there. The seating area measures 61″ wide and 20″ deep. The seat is 16″ high and the arm rests are 29.5″ high. This elegant antique chaise sofa would look great in any home or office! The arm rests have a lovely shape and are decorated with fine carvings. The turned feet are also quite sturdy. Original Antique Black Walnut Chaise/ Fainting Couch made in Woodland, NC
My Grandmother gave me this"fainting Couch" as she called it when I graduated from college and moved into my own first apartment. It came from my Great Grandmother's family farm in Woodland. NC. It was made there locally in the 1900's. I am the 3rd generation to use the couch. It is the original upholstery too. No one was allowed to change it so I have carried on the tradition draping an afghan or throw across the chaise. My Great Grandmother had casters put on the chaise when she brought it home to help when rearranging furniture in her home.

This 4-piece Antique Wicker Bar Harbor group is early 20th century. Features include magazine holders and cup holders in chaise and chair. Twisted feet, beautiful braids, diamonds, and weaves that is characteristic of vintage Bar Harbor. The quality of construction is remarkable with no'give' or weakness. The white paint is original to the pieces and has normal wear for non-refinished pieces of this era. The group has a fabulous vintage look and feel to it. Heavy and well made. The pieces are generous in size and overall dimensions are as follows: Chaise 72"long x 40"wide x 46"tall Wing back 48"tall x 38"wide Rocker 42"tall x 36"wide Table 36"diameter x 36"tall The wing back chair is tall and stately with a beautiful diamond weave on the back and sides. Original box-seat cushion, and magazine ... moreholders on inside of arms. The circular table has a lower shelf and deep apron around top. The rocker has a checkered weave on arms, original springs under cushion, and open weave back with original chain reinforcement. It is Very sturdy. The chaise is exceptional with a magazine and cup holder, a scalloped base, open weave diamond back, and a'sleigh' footrest. The chaise is the only piece that has a wear spot(on the seat in the photo) The box seat cushion is covered in what appears to be vintage floral Barkcloth. While the heavy blue fabric is a vintage Americana fabric with a soft touch, but is very heavy. The white American Eagle is Very cool looking) The fabrics are definitely vintage, but are most likely not original to the chairs and probably date to the 50's. The exception would be the muslin-like fabric that can be seen through the open weave on the back of the wing back chair- it is very possibly original. It would appear that the rocker also had a back cushion at one time that is no longer with the group. We came across this ornate piece by chance. It is a chaise lounge or sofa with dark cherry oak. The detailing of the oak is amazing claw feet. A Lion's head at the'sleigh' curve, and I believe Lioness' heads at the posts. The woodwork does needs some repair& refinished, and it needs to be re-upholstered. Again, we came across this by chance and DO NOT know the HISTORY of it, so please don't ask. Here is an absolutely fabulous early 20th century brown leather chaise with lovely old style green tapestry slip cover that includes multi-colored animals dispersed throughout the design as shown. this comfortable. Functional piece is 80 inches long by 35 inches wide and the bed with cushion is place is 21 1/2 inches tall. The cushion and bed of the chaise itself measures 65 inches long and 35 inches wide at it's widest point and is 5 inches thick, so without the cushion the bed stands 16 1/2 inches above the floor. This chaise is large enough for a man as tall as 6' 4" or so to rest comfortably on it. The sofa is strong, sturdy and in overall very nice condition. There are a few minor scuffs and small scratches to the leather and the one tiny 3/4" slice/puncture on the top front of arm mentioned in my detailed description ... moreabove but otherwise this chaise is exceptionally nice for a piece it's age. The tapestry slip cover on the cushion does have a zipper so it can be removed for dry cleaning when needed.
