It has a solid seat surface with a tufted back and side. I believe that the velvet was once a rich green color, but it is now very faded to a sort of yellow. Unique antique settee/fainting couch
This is a beautiful and unique piece of furniture. It has a dark oak frame. With some simple carving on the feet. The couch itself was reupholstered about 12 years ago in high quality fabric and has seen minimal use. The unique thing about this settee is that both arms go down to provide a long chaise or bed. The back also lifts off. I have only seen one other like this in over thirty years of collecting. I must be honest and tell you that this settee is not particularly comfortable to sit on for any length of time, but it is lovely to look at. The photos do not reflect the deep colors of the fabric. I will try to take some better ones and send them if you are interested.

This is a beautiful and elegant chaise longue or fainting couch. In my opinion from the 1910s or 1920s. The wood appears to be walnut with nice carving to the legs and sides. It has been newly upholstered. The springs are mostly in good shape except for one spot in the middle where they need to be tightened. Fainting couch that makes unfolds into a bed. I have had this for many years and just never got around to having it re-upholstered. I put that it was made from around 1900.But it may be older or younger. If you know,please let me know. Although I never used it for a bed,When opened into a bed, I never knew what it was suppose to lean on(the opened end should have something to support it) Anyway,it has always been different than other fainting couches that I've seen. Antique Fainting Couch Lounge Chaise Hardwood Frame
For your consideration is an antique chaise lounge/fainting couch. Current owner bought it in an antique store many years ago. So original history is unknown. It has been re-upolstered with a dark green floral print velvet and at that time the springs and stuffing were replaced. This has been used in an office for many years so it has only been casually used. Fabric is slightly faded on the side from the light coming in the window as seen in the pictures. This piece measures 6 feet in length. 32" wide and stands 29" high at the tall end and 20" high at the lower end. This is for local pickup only. Original Antique Black Walnut Chaise/ Fainting Couch made in Woodland, NC
My Grandmother gave me this"fainting Couch" as she called it when I graduated from college and moved into my own first apartment. It came from my Great Grandmother's family farm in Woodland. NC. It was made there locally in the 1900's. I am the 3rd generation to use the couch. It is the original upholstery too. No one was allowed to change it so I have carried on the tradition draping an afghan or throw across the chaise. My Great Grandmother had casters put on the chaise when she brought it home to help when rearranging furniture in her home.

French LOUIS XV Meridienne Style Antique Sofa/Fainting Couch - Early 1900's
Uniquely Shaped Louis XV Style Meridienne Antique Sofa with Curved Headboard and Footboard; Curved Backrest. The sofa rests on 6 carved walnut legs with scrolled feet. They connect to the bottom frame of the sofa(also of walnut) which has a carved floral motif in the front center. With smaller floral rosette like carvings topping the 2 front feet. The frame has a minimal amount of carvings but has curvy/wavy woodwork, reminiscent of the Louis XV style. Between the side and rear legs the curvy/wavy carved wood design flourishes, and is accented beautifully by the double piping upholstery which runs perpendicular. The armrests are wider carved pieces of walnut that have a scroll like details at the point where the backrest frame meets the cascading arm piece. The backrest trim has a similar curved/wavy design with some floral/foliage style ... morecarvings near the frame seams. The backrest trim is highest at the left side(backrest) And slowly curves down to the scrolled right side(footrest) Also, the backrest and sides(headboard/footboard) have been restuffed giving a very plush look. The cushion is down filled, and also recently restuffed making a very comfortable seat. The sofa is upholstered in a yellow/gold shimmer silk-blend fabric; very soft to the touch. There is a double piping finish around all seams between the fabric and walnut wood frame. The fabric covers the front. All sides of the cushion, and the backside/rear of the sofa. Here is an absolutely fabulous mid-20th century brown leather chaise with lovely old style green tapestry slip cover that includes multi-colored animals dispersed throughout the design as shown. this comfortable. Functional piece is 80 inches long by 35 inches wide and the bed with cushion is place is 21 1/2 inches tall. The cushion and bed of the chaise itself measures 65 inches long and 35 inches wide at it's widest point and is 5 inches thick, so without the cushion the bed stands 16 1/2 inches above the floor. The highest point on the head rest is 33 inches and the highest point on the side part or arm is 37 inches. This chaise is large enough for a man as tall as 6' 4" or so to rest comfortably on it. The sofa is strong. Sturdy and in overall very nice condition. There are a few minor scuffs and small scratches to the leather ... moreand the one tiny 3/4" slice/puncture on the top front of arm mentioned in my detailed description above but otherwise this chaise is exceptionally nice for a piece it's age. The tapestry slip cover on the cushion does have a zipper so it can be removed for dry cleaning when needed. As shown in my photo's the inside of the chaise including white fabric below the cushion is clean and ready for use.
