Very Nice Chippendale Camel Back Sofa. This sofa has 3 cushions instead of one whole. It was orginally 3 cushions. This sofa was redone several years ago and still in very good condition. There was no smoking in the home it has been in. This sofa is 84 inches longx 32 1/2 inches deep. Cushions are 22 1/2 inches deep. This sofa is ready to use will not have to be recovered. Antique Miniature SALESMAN SAMPLE SOFA Rare Upholstered CHIPPENDALE Camel-Back
Antique Miniature Chippendale Camel-Back Upholstered Sofa Salesman Sample Furniture This remarkable miniature salesman sample sofa measures 9” high x 20” wide x 8 ½” deep. The front claw-and-ball feet are beautifully carved wood. Possibly mahogany. The graceful back and arms and three separate cushions are upholstered in a fine green silk fabric. Which has been painted with green, cream and red stripes to demonstrate in scale the actual full size fabric pattern. This sofa, along with a matching Chippendale upholstered arm chair, another upholstered easy chair and a beautiful Pembroke drop leaf table were purchased as a set at an antique show in Santa Monica in 1987. At that time they were said to be 64 years old. Putting them at circa 1923, though they may well be older. The dealer had purchased them in Rockport, Illinois as salesman ... moresamples. The construction and upholstery all indicates that they were in fact made as salesman samples and not apprentice pieces or doll furniture. The mahogany is beautifully carved and finished and in good condition. The joints are tight with no wobbly bits or cracks. The painted silk is fragile and in very rough. Shabby chic condition consistent with age. There is loss of paint. Splits in the fabric and staining. Please study the photos with the zoom feature to see these issues. This piece is incredibly charming despite the vintage condition and displays beautifully. It is extremely rare to find a miniature upholstered piece of this age. Paticularly a sofa, as most have not survived the years. This elegant sample. With perfect attention to detail, is a lovely testament to the history of the traveling furniture salesman. Furniture from my great grandmother, great aunt, grandmother, mom and myself has all found a place at the house. Now, I’ve sold the house and am downsizing. My extended family doesn’t have the type of houses that can accommodate these fabulous antiques. Of course, I cannot dictate who the new owners of these antiques will be. But it is my hope that someone else will get as much pleasure from these heirloom pieces as they have brought to my family for generations. I’ll include a little family history with each piece because I think someone else will appreciate that these are not‘anonymous’ pieces sold by a dealer. They have a soul that accompanies their ... morebeauty. My mother has had this sofa for many years. And it came to my house about 18 years ago. She bought it at an antique auction about 30 years ago, and my best judgment is that it dates from the 1920’s or 1930’s. The Chippendale style rolled arm and ball and claw feet have exposed mahogany trim with carving. It has graceful lines. And will be an elegant addition to your home. It’s also very comfortable to sit on, and was a favorite place to perch during family gatherings. There is a single down fill cushion. I didn't fluff it up for the photos. But it gets nice and puffy. The beige silk upholstery features large textured calendula leaves. It’s almost like a matlesse, with a raised surface. While I realize that the fabric is not in perfect condition– see below– it is an elegant piece that still looks pretty darn good. The sofa is in good used condition. Structurally it is very sound. The frame and springs are in excellent condition. The mahogany finish shows some wear and there are a couple of minor dings. No repairs or cracks. WHAT A CLASSIC! I purchased this sofa with the intentions to restore it. It has Chippendale ball& claw feet in the front. Queen Anne'feet on the rear, coil springs, etc. There is no seat cushion but a upholsterer can provide when recovering. Restored will be worth some serious $$$$. Sofa is approx. 88" long, 37" tall at the back and approx 36" deep. However, I have now reached a point health wise(surgery pending) I must lighten up hard and fast as I will prolly relocate in the spring or before. This sofa was completely reupholstered by the Imperial Decorative Arts& upholstery company about five years ago. This is what a $2500 upholstery job looks like. The fabric is gorgeous in a cut pattern silk with embroidered roses defining the bone colored fabric. It has four highly carved front legs and four splayed back legs. Beautiful Queen Anne style sofa has updated upholstery that is clean and has no rips or stains. The seat has two cushions that are upholstered on both sides so that they can be flipped. The upholstery is blue velveteen that has a small embossed diamond design. The cabriole legs are probably walnut and feature carvings in the shape of a shell. The length of the sofa is 73" and the height of the back is 35" The sofa is very sturdy and functional. The sofa is available for pick up in the Graeagle area of California. Only about 65 miles from Reno, NV and about 40 miles from Truckee, CA. It's a beautiful drive up into the Sierra Nevada mountains from Sacramento, too! Worth the trip for the scenery alone!

Antique Camel Back Queen Anne 5 Legged Mahogany Three Toe Claw Foot Sofa Circa 1900. Damask off-white with loose one-piece new foam wrapped pad cushion. Very comfortable arm rest. Very strong frame and solid construction. Would guess built early 1900’s or so. Damask cover of seat pad shows wear and some separation of fabric. On one side only and staining, but has been dry cleaned. Some staining on back of sofa and one small piece missing from toe of back right leg on inside. OAL 81” OAW 36” OAH 32” 5) 9” Legs. Original Karpen sofa from Dyersburg Tennessee. Made in USA. has wear on left corner of arm of sofa. Clean no stains or odors. Even white area under cushions is clean without stains. Comes from cat free home, we have dogs but they are not in level of home where couch is displayed. You dont find them like this anymore, only selling to turn room into weight room for my sons. Vintage mid century regency style camel back sofa Very Cottage chic!!!!!
Chic. Elegant, and timeless, and cool and hip as well. This Piece was found at a wonderful estate sale, couple from Paris. It is in amazing condition. Here is the deal on the fabric, I really don't know what it is, IT looks and moves like a silk, but feels as though its a silk/vinyl blend? I know, what? cleans up really well, looks great, but doesn't quite feel like a vinyl. The dimensions are 70.5 long, 34 deep, seat height 16" and total back height at 35 inches. the color of the easy breezy clean material is antique white and beige damask pattern. By the way I have cleaned this since photo's so it looks better, just in a dark place in warehouse so I used these photo's. Please note; vintage, and antique items might have some imperfections, and appropriate wear that may be visible. Please look over pics to assure it meets ... moreyour standards. Title: Camel-back Lounger Date/Era/Period: c. 1930 Description: A grey mohair camel-back lounge chair with rolled arms. Also with wood trim around base& shaped wooden legs. Condition: very good Appraised By: Jeffrey Motsinger Appraiser Comments: It is a great old lounge chair. It features traditional forms such as the camel back and the shaped legs but hints at Art Deco with the broadly rolled arms and vertical piping. It probably dates to around 1925-1935 and is American-made. The chair's value depends a lot on the exact condition of the fabric and upholstering. It seems, in the photograph, that there is a stain on the seat and loose edges at the front. Odd that it doesn't have any vertical wood trim at the front of the arms. I would expect a pre-sale estimate of $150 to $250 on this chair. However, if the uphostery is, in fact, ... morenot stained or torn, then value could be about three times higher. I recommend having a local auctioneer come see the chair, they usually give free estimates and know your local market conditions better than anyone. If there is an up-scale consignment store in your area, check there as well because they have in-house pricers who can help you price the chair for the local market.
