Purchased from a NY antiques dealer as an antique. I am uncertain of its exact age. It is VERY heavy and very well made. The upholstery, being an off white silk blend, is in need of cleaning or replacing. It is not original, I reupholstered this sofa when I purchased it. The original purchase price was over $2500 before upholstery cost. Again, it doesn't fit the new house so it unfortunately has to go. Here is a delightful early 20th century mahogany empire style green upholstered sofa in very nice condition for it's age. This terrific sofa has beautiful flame mahogany veneer on both the serpentine top and the bottom front rail and stands on it's original casters. This sofa measures 84 inches or 7 feet long and stands 33 inches tall to the highest point on the top rail and 27 inches front to back. The seat height is 16 inches and the arm height 24 inches. The bench seat between the arms measures 63 inches long and 20 inches front to back. This lovely piece has an upholstered back as well so it could be floated in any room. It is certainly in nice enough to be used as in in a"comfortable house" and again. Is a great candidate for full restoration with minimal veneer repair and new upholstery.
