The couch is upholstered in a velvet material and features extra-long fringe around the bottom perimeter that gives it such unique appeal. The fringe is still firmly attached to the sofa. It has a solid seat surface with a tufted back and side. I believe that the velvet was once a rich green color, but it is now very faded to a sort of yellow. Vintage Fainting Couch/ Sofa with carved legs and carving on side A beautiful piece of history in great condition and ready to use or display! I believe this was recovered at some point(not sure though) because the cloth material is in great shape. No rips. Tears, stains, etc. It is a tapestry style material. When you look underneath the couch you can tell the springs and padding are original. It is very comfortable and not lumpy. I believe the wood is oak. But I am not sure. They connect to the bottom frame of the sofa(also of walnut) which has a carved floral motif in the front center. With smaller floral rosette like carvings topping the 2 front feet.
