Leather Duncan Phyfe sofa
This a a very comfortable sofa that sat in my Mother's living room and while it is used. It is great condition with the spring very strong and in tack. The leather is in great condition on the inside and outside back and the arms inside and outside as well. The bottom or seat has NO tears or rips, but a few light stains from where one of the grandchildren used to press his baby(milk) botton against it. I will try to get some close ups to add, but the light in my garagei is not strong enough for them to show up. This Duncan Phyfe Style sofa is from our grandmother's collection. It is in very good. Original condition. Mahogany wood is in great shape, with some minor wear given the age of the piece. There is a small chip(see photo) on the back wood frame. Fabric is in excellent condition, no fading, loose threads or stains. Cushions are plump and comfortable and have working zippers. There appears to be two coil springs that need to be re clipped, however they do not create an uncomfortable seating surface and the sofa is ready for use immediately. The sofa has been in my husband's office and more of a show piece versus actual use. Very little use and we are a non smoking home. We prefer local pickup. Antique Duncan Phyfe Sofa 1940s Original Owner Excellent Condition
This is a Duncan Phyfe sofa from the 1940s which has been in my family since that time. I have owned it for over 35 years(my grandmother had it before then) I have had it reupholstered twice during that time. It is in excellent condition. The current upholstery is a Robert Allen chenille fabric in a beige/taupe pattern that mixes and matches with everything from traditional prints and stripes to contemporary decor. I've used it in all of these settings. The upholstery is in excellent condition- no rips. Tears, stains, or odors- foam was all replaced and the sofa has been barely used. Any shading of the fabric seen on the photos is the result of the nap of the fabric, which, when rubbed in one direction will look slightly different. The wood trim is in good condition- probably has some minor scuffs. But nothing so noticeable that it would ... moredetract from the look or use of the sofa. Wood legs are solid. One leg was broken off in the reupholstery process but was professionally repaired. The sofa is solid and sturdy, and quite comfortable for naps! The sofa measures 80" in length; is 33" wide. Height to the top of the back is 32" height to the top of the arm is 26" I love that this sofa is much smaller than today's sofa monsters. It's difficult to find a smaller profile in sofas today. I love this sofa. Unfortunately. I bought it while my husband was away for the weekend, and I wanted to surprise him, but he HATES it! He is very upset and it needs to go, so I have priced it at an incredible reasonable price because now we have two sofas in our living room, andhe wants to keep the original one. MEN! All the feet have their brass claw feet. There are 2 nice roll arm pillows. Whoever did the upholstery on this did a really nice job. Notice the double welting and the detail in the roll arm pillows. The wood frame is in excellent condition. I owned it for 5 days before listing it. There are no rips or tears or smells or stains or anything like that. I wasn't excited about the fabric at firs. Offered is a vintage. 1890 era, Duncan Phyfe style sofa. Origin of this piece is southern New Hampshire. Age of this piece is estimated at 115 to 120 years old. It was professionally reupholstered in 1992. There is a professional repair of a horizontal break in the upper part of the rear, left claws foot, repaired at the same time as the reupholstering. The last 2 pics show this particular claws foot. It has held up fine for 22 years. I believe the extra support pieces at the back were also added at that time& have withstood the test of time. All along the piece. At the lower front and upper back, at the feet is wonderful, carved, scroll work. In a couple places, there is some expected wear from over the years, but it still maintains its beauty! It measures about 88" in length from outer arm to arm. 32" heighth at the back, ... more7 3/4" clearance at the front, from floor to lower wood area. It has no tears or stains& is still in very good condition for its age. At the left, front arm area are some slight& minor thread pulls- see photos. These are minimal& am mentioning for accuracy in my listing. This sofa is still being used& is very comfortable. The 2 cushions are firm& do not sag. They are zippered at the back. Under the cushions. The sofa is clean& very firm& does not sag- still very useable for the next owner. Seat cushions each measure about 27" by 20" by 4.5" thickness. A beautiful antique Empire Sofa with a modern twist! This beauty has a carved rosewood frame and is covered in a heavenly blue Boucle type upholstery fabric. Has a tufted button back and arm rolls, and chunky bun feet that were recently added and make it VERY STURDY not to mention modernizing the look! It measures 86 inches long x 31 inches deep x 33 inches high. The upholstery does show some wear around wood frame at sides,although still looks good but could use a cleaning. Back wood top frame has wear that can easily be refinished or stained. Structurely this sofa is in sturdy shape and still has many many years of use left in it. Use as is or reupholster in new fabric for a new look!
