This is a quite nice file cabinet bookcase combination with paneled sides. Executed in quartered quarter sawn oak it was manufactured by the GLOBE Company. A stackable type of cabinet somewhat like a barrister bookcase in that each piece sits and locks on top of the other-4 pieces in this cabinet-base. Stack of file drawers, stack of sliding door bookcase, and the top or cap. The file cabinet drawers hold standard size paper; they have metal inserts and each of the paper holders or'followers' are present. The bookcase section has sliding doors much like a Danner bookcase might; each side has two adjustable shelves. The piece is in overall very good condition with an earlier refinish which is smooth and even. There are a couple of stains which are not significant-please see photos in that regard. Just acquired out of a private Midwest estate we are able to offer this exceptionally nice. Circa 1900-1910 ~ SOLID QUARTER SAWN GOLDEN OAK REVOLVING BOOKCASE WITH A TWO TIER TABLE TOP SHELF ~. This fine quality revolving bookcase is quite unique and has a wonderful look as you will see. It has a very unique, handy two tier shelf top and many different compartments for the storage of books. There are individual celluloid numbers below the book shelves to help you locate your desired reference book. The numbers go up to 34 and it looks like there may have been 35 and 36 as well but they are not there. It measures 43 1/2 inches tall by about 26 inches square. The sections to store the books measure about 13 3/4 inches tall by 9 1/2 inches deep by 14 1/2 inches wide" some of them are only 11 1/2 inches wide" We have never seen another ... moreone like it, and i9magine it is a fairly hard to find, desirable example. The over all condition is pretty nice with some expected wear from age and use. All in all, it was actually very well cared for over the past 100 years or so. There are some small separations between the some of the boards on the two top shelves. It is very sturdy and is in ready to use condition. We left this bookcase exactly as it was when discovered in the estate and did not do a thing to it. It has been is storage for quite some time. It revolves just fine and rolls on the castor wheels very nice as well. I believe that the finish is original and it is actually quite nice with a rich warm patina. If you have been looking for a really nice and very unique revolving bookcase, this one here may be just the one you have been waiting for.
