Never had another ... morelike it. Excellent cosmically and both doors operate perfectly. It measures approximately 41-1/2” high, 34” wide and 11” deep. The shelves measure 14” high and 12” high inside, so this is large for a 2-shelf. According to the labels, they are “Pattern 813” and “Pattern 811”. Both are also marked “Grade 299”. This outstanding stacking desk bookcase ... moreis one of the nicest we have ever seen. It has leaded glass windows in the top two sections below the molded top. The carved fall board has a key that opens or locks the desk section. Inside are two strong desk lid supports and a nice set of pigeon holes with a single pencil drawer-fitted interior. The desk section sits above two full width drawers. The top drawer is shaped to fit the curve. The second drawer is carved to accent the fall board. Both drawers have original brass handles. The lowest section is an extra tall one with a"blind" door or wood paneled door to prevent breakage from feet. The entire piece sits on a molded base section. According to the Globe-Wernicke USA website the grade of 198 is a plain oak with an antique, medium-dark gloss finish with copper oxidized hardware. The glass appears to be original as it is wavy with air bubbles/flaws. There are two small scratches in the front right corner glass which can be seen in the photographs. The measurements on all four is the same and they measure: X brackets or arms measure 18 1/4" long and the side rods are 11 3/4" long. One of these is stamped on the rivets: WK Co. Mission Lawyer Barrister Globe Wernicke Bookcase 4 stack and drawer original
This auction for your consideration is an original Globe Wernicke bookcase. This piece was made in Cincinnati. Ohio around the turn of century. It measures 62 inches tall and 34 1/2 inches across. It has rolled feet and mission pulls. I think top is made of Mahogany, inside pine and outside Walnut. In very nice condition for age. 2 small pieces of wood scroll missing above both legs not a hard fix at all,I am just not qualified to repair. I not tried to clean much except for windows and wiping off dust. Sizes of sections are photographed from top of case to bottom. This is a pickup auction only. 1930's Globe Wernicke Barrister Bookcase 4 Sections
We are pleased to offer to the market this beautiful barrister bookcase. This was originally a set of three that was combined with another piece. The top three pieces are#809/809/811 these are mahogany veneer and the base piece is#813 walnut veneer. The piece measures 60.5" in height x 34 5/16" in width x 11.5" in depth. The inside heights from top to bottom are 8.5"8.5"10.75" and 12.75" There are no metal parts on the outside of this. All of the pieces fit together tightly with precise cabinet work and barely discernible seams. This is a universal style with simple symmetrical lines. There is a small spot on one section where the veneer was filled in the making and the fill has come out. There are also age and use appropriate scratches and dings in the finish. These are all very minor and cannot really ... morebe seen unless up close and looking for them. This is a previously owned item and it is being sold as is as shown.
