Probably done at the same time as the finish. The spots that might have revealed the maker name have paint on them so I am selling it as maker unknown. In addition to the 2 sections, it comes with the original top or crown, and a base with drawer. It also features metal side straps between each section and the scissor mechanism for the doors. No problems with the 2 glass doors. In fact, I see no problems at all. With the square straight legs it is very mission looking and being from about 100 years ago, I think we can safely call it authentic mission furniture in every way except the finish, although a lot of mission furniture WAS this color when it was new. The joints are all tight and all sections lock together easily and correctly. While only a 2 stack, it is a big 2 stack with each section able to take books as much as 13 1/2 inches tall. The over all measurement are 34 inches wide as most of these are, and with base and crown a total of 45 inches tall. It is a full 14 inches deep from knobs to back. I am listing this as local pick up only. BUT there are shipping/delivery options for you to chose from. RI delivery is $50 MA or CT. $100 If you are beyond those states. I would still deliver to most of the rest of New England, all of NJ, parts of PA that are East of Harrisburg and parts of NY that are East of Binghamton for $200. Knob width at the TOP DIAMETER is 1 3/16" TOTAL KNOB HEIGHT is 7/8" BASE WIDTH IS 1/2" These are the correct size and profile for the drawer bases for Globe Wernicke® and Macey stack units(although they work great for Gunn, Lundstrum, Weis, Danner and others as well) There were at least 8 different styles of knobs. This style was the most prominent and the best made of the 4 cast versions. It is made of polished brass and then aged to match your original knobs. Knob width at the TOP DIAMETER is 1 3/16" TOTAL KNOB HEIGHT is 7/8" BASE WIDTH IS 1/2" These are the correct size and profile for the drawer bases for Globe Wernicke® and Macey stack units(although they work great for Gunn, Lundstrum, Weis, Danner and others as well) There were at least 8 different styles of knobs. This style was the most prominent and the best made of the 4 cast versions. It is made of very highly polished brass. I have had many calls for these base knobs in the past and they went for high prices to discriminating restorers as the only source was robbing original bases for these knobs. DO NOT BE FOOLED! This same wall has the beginning of a split. Which is slightly noticeable from the outside. The glass panels have dowel rods that allow the windows to slide up and down. Each side for the dowel rods is split and missing some wood. Still functions properly. I am not going to further mess with it but it could be repaired if you prefer but not necessary. Has the exact same finish number as everything else but appears slightly darker- mostly from the side. Looks good from the front. For Sale. Three stack sectional glass door barrister bookcase made by Lundstrum probably in the 1920s, 30s or 40s. They work perfectly. The glass sliding doors are unblemished. The top has faded marks from glasses. And the veneer was repaired in one corner but it still glows and the rest of the surfaces are in good to very good condition. The bottom shelf is missing it's glass other than that all is there. I kept my dvds on the bottom shelf and it made much easier to take them out if glass wasn't there. Later when moving the glass was broke. All other pieces are in tack and original to my knowledge. I say that because it's the old style wavy glass. So most likely original. Also most of the red GRM triangular logo located on the back is there. See pics for details. This logo represented the Furniture Manufacturer’s Association of Grand Rapids and was only used from 1899 to 1913 Gunn stacking bookcases were distinguished by the lack of external side bands. Offered here is a Globe Wernicke Sectional File top. The metal band measures 17 3/8"long. Overall the top measures 18" x 41 1/2" The top has been stained and then refinished with 7 coats of Orange and Blonde shellac, 2 coats applied with brush and 5 additional applied with pad in a french polishing technique. reproduction GUNN Sectional Bookcase Hardware - Barrister - regular or mission
Offered here is a PAIR of reproduction Gunn Bookcase shelf brackets for the regular size Gunn sectional bookcase sections in TWO different styles either the regular or mission style. These were originally made of cast iron but sometime in the evolution of Gunn bookcases the company decided to go away from cast iron and had them made of stamped steel instead. Probably due to cost and breakage of the brittle cast iron. As there is and was no commercially made reproductions of this part, I decided to have them done myself at considerable expense about 10 years ago. I have found when I find this brand of bookcases at auction they are often sold disassembled with parts missing or broken. I have a limited number of these parts in the regular and mission style to sell on eBay and when they are gone they will no longer be available. They are made of steel which can be colored with a gun bluing solution. A rust remover such as Loctite Extend or spray paint, etc. after cleaning with a solvent such as lacquer thinner. The new parts pictured are with a old antique original mission part which is to confirm the new ones are the correct size. Only the new parts are offered for sale. The old one is for display only.
