This style was the most prominent and the best made of the 4 cast versions. It is made of polished brass and then aged to match your original knobs. A very fine antique. Circa 1905, Globe-Wernicke quartersawn oak five stack bookcase, with the bottom drawer section and the top cap. The stack interiors are maple. All oak doors retain their original wavy glass, and square brass knobs. Original brass pulls to drawer. The barrister type bookcase measures 6'1" 73" tall by 2'10" 34-1/2" wide by 11" deep, each stack 12" tall. Paper labels to interior read: size D 10-1/4, grade 299-1/2. Excellent condition: original finish, quartersawn oak boards without chips or cracks. All glass panels are without damage. Brass knobs and drawer pulls with dark patina.

This a misson lawyers bookcase from Globe Wernicke. Label says 898 quartersawn oak mission finish and each of the 4 sections are labeled. I think the finish is fumed oak and is a lovely mission look. 55 inches tall. 11 inches deep and 34 inches wide. 4 sections with a seperate top and bottom. Bottom has a nice drawer. Original finish. Original antique wavy glass. All doors open nicely and have all inside door mechanisms. All hardware is original except for 2 knobs which were replaced at some point. Real nice Globe Wernicke Barrister Top and barrister base. Contour top with original bands. Original finish. 34 inches wide. About 10 1/2 inches wide and 3 1/4 inches tall for the top. Same for the base but the base is taller. 5-6 inches I guess. This is a rarer size and fits sections that are 9 1/2 deep. Outstanding oak grain. Has a small nick that I photoed. Not major. The top is lovely. The piece of wood that goes across the base has a section that splintered off but is still in good shape. Works fine and is very stable I have a photo of it on a matching base. But cannot find any label identifying the manufacturer. This bookcase is constructed entirely of smooth. Beautiful oak. It features 3 glass doors on the front of each section; the glass is intact with no cracks or problems to mar their beauty. The glass doors flip up and open/close smoothly. Antique Globe Wernicke Oak Stacking File Cabinet Barrister
Up for auction is a Globe Wernicke file cabinet from between 1910 and 1920. It is made of quartered oak with an antique oak finish and brass hardware. The gold"Globe" stenciling still remains on the top of the unit. The dimentions are 18' deep. 17.5 wide and 31.5' tall. It is fully functional and the file cabinet unit and the card catalog drawers work as intended with the original hardware remaining. Condition: Good original condition with the usual age related scratches and blemishes to the finish. There is dark staining and a little rippling to the veneer on the top. Most of the finish is definately originial. But I'm really not sure if the sides of the file cabinet unit have been refinished at some point. They have the same type of wear as the rest of the unit, but are noticibly lighter than the patina on the rest ... moreof the pieces. The brass side bands have oxidation on parts of them.
