VICTORIAN CRANBERRY ART GLASS SET OF VASES
ANTIQUE VICTORIAN CRANBERRY ART GLASS VASE SET- CIRCA 1890- LAST LISTING OPPORTUNITY! For auction is a GORGEOUS pair of Victorian art glass in beautiful cranberry with gorgeous rigoree detail. These vases came from a North Carolina estate and had been packed away since 1984 along with other art glass treasures belonging to the collector's estate. There were notes with these vases indicating they were Victorian from 1890. Each vase is a delicious cranberry pink that starts out slightly lighter at the bottom and becomes darker towards the opening at the top. To my eye. One vase is a smidge lighter than the other but just a smidge. You may not see it. They definitely make a fabulous set so it does not deter from that. Each vase has a wrapped rigoree around the center in a clear color. The top of each vase has 8 scallops of clear glass that ... moreare stamped or etched. The bottom has 5 clear paddles or feet that also have a waffle type etching. Each footed vase measures a little above 8 inches high. The mouth opening measures 3-1/4 inches across and the base measures about 3 inches across. Overall condition is very good. One of the pontels has a little break that causes a slightly sharp section. So please be aware of that. It could be taken to a professional glass repairer to be sanded down but I would not bother. It is on the bottom and cannot be seen, it does not take away from the beauty and I wouldn't want to take a chance of damaging the vase. Also, there are a couple of black specks within the glass on one of the vases which I believe have always been there, they are not new marks but most likely were created during the manufacturing process. I am going to pack these very carefully with a lot of bubble and peanuts to ensure safe passage. I will have to insure these and although I will pack everything with extreme care. Each measures 9” tall and 3-1/4” in diameter at the base. They are hand blown with pontil scars on the bottom of each. They have flower and leaf decorations in colors of green. Red, cobalt blue, blue and white with gilt enameling. The rims, edges of pedestal and foot have a gilt highlight. When held to the light the glass shows a lot of fire. They are unmarked. One of the vases has an age split on one side near the bottom as you can see in the picture below and it appears to have been there a while. The vase won’t hold water. They are a matched pair. However owing to the fact they were made freehand without a mold they are of a slightly different sizes. Both are 5¾” tall, 3½” 3¾” wide at the tops, 2 ¾” 2 7/8” at the foot. The pontil marks can be easily seen to the foot of each one. Being paper-thin, they are very delicate and have been decorated with 24 applied glass flowers and wispy wreath around the foot. They were clearly a labor of love made by a skilled glass blower. It amazing that being so old and fragile they exist at all! And even more astounding they survived as a pair! The blue/yellow painted opaline milk glass vase has loss to the tiny white enamel dots. Barely noticeable with all the very detailed allover floral painting. Lots of flowers and scrolls. The Nailsea type vase consists of three colors. Brown and yellow on a white satin glass base. These two small vases are both very old.The blue vase stands 4.5" and the Nailsea type 4" tall. Glass color is green with a slight frosted finish. Sides are softly panelled. Gold trim. Stand just under 13 1/2" tall. Measure 3 5/8" across top. Approx. 5 1/2" across at widest section of body. Do not know maker- from local estate. I see several air bubbles- some stretched- in the glass. One vase has a 3/16" surface ding in the glass. The other has a 4 1/2" gray line(looks like a pencil or paint mark) to right of pink flower. This is either inside the vase or trapped in glass. It is not a crack. See close-up photos. ITEM: Antique Victorian Stevens and Williams white on orange cased glass vase with applied Art Nouveau Matsu-No-Ke flowers and vines. WHEN MADE: 1890s This beautiful pair of vases dated to around 1900' Hand blown of vivid orange overlay white glass and coated with layer of clear glass. The vases embellished with hand crafted applied flowers and leafs made of a clear glass. In addition, flowers have multicolored inclusions in the center. The baluster shaped vases stand on round clear glass base 8 1/4" 21 cm) high. Charming frilled edges and vivid color bring off the character and quality of an old time. They are in excellent condition with no damage, didn't find any chips, cracks or repair. Please see pictures for details. They are part of my description.

Polished pontils with the number 33 in gold on the bottom of each vase, approx. 26cm tall, one is slightly taller than the other, mirror image hand painted and enamelled decoration, each of the vases has slightly different colourings both in the white cased peach blow glass, and the hand painted floral decoration, gilding is worn on both vases, both vases are in very good condition, they are not uranium.
