It is in excellent condition, with the exception of a small flake to the exterior of the bowl, just underneath the rim. Antiqe French Carved Cameo Glass Vase Daum Galle Legras not Signed (#5244)
Antique cameo glass vase. Made in France 19th century. Measures approximately 4.5inches tall. Organic. Irregular shape, somewhat triangular, but very rounded and naturalistic in shape. The consistancy of the glass itself is extraordinary- mimics a seashell with inner layers of different colours ranging from white, through yellows, pinks and peaches through red. The outer layers of glass are in shades of red, brown and green, polished in contrast with the organic underlayer. The carving is exquisite with minute detail of nasturtium, finely scrolling tendrils and foliage. Upper rim is rounded. The vase is not signed. Which is amazing considering the quality of the work and glass. It smacks of the best of Emille Galle or Daum Nancy. Condition: good with negligible wear commensurate with age. French Nouveau Cameo Mont Joye deVez HP Nacissus Daffodil Enamel Art Glass Vase I just purchased this Art Nouveau cameo glass vase from a local estate here in Central Virginia. The vase is characteristic of the acid cut cased designs produced by the company E. S. Monot founded as"Cristallerie de La Villette" 1850) and relocated to Pantin(1859) The company became"Monot. Pere de Fils et Stumpf" when Monot's son joined in 1873 and later"Stumpf, Touvier, Violette& Cooye" 1894) Monot produced cameo glass under several trade names, including"deVez, Mont Joye" and"Pantin" The vase has a striking Nouveau design showing Narcissus/ Daffodil blossoms on delicate stems with stylized foliage woven over the surface. I believe this is a three layer cameo with white opaque interior covered in a clear ... morelayer with transparent, emerald green exterior. The blossoms are hand painted with enamel which shows rich color and nice stylized detail. The stems/ foliage are decorated with fine gold enamel highlights and the blossoms are traced in gold as well. The vase measures 10" high, 3 ¼" wide at the base and 2" at the cut/ polished top rim(also finished in gold) The piece is unsigned. The vase is in excellent condition with no damage, there is light wear to the gold at the top rim and a ½ pinhead flake to the paint on one of the blossom petals. This striking Narcissus vase would make a fine addition to any collection of late 19th/ early 20th century French cameo art glass or Art Nouveau inspired décor. International bidders. French 3-Color Cameo Glass Vase by DeVez This is a fine slender gourd form cameo glass vase. The process of making cameo glass is as follows: The glassware is decorated with forms of colored glass carved in relief against glass ground of contrasting color. Produced by blowing two layers together. With the glass cooled, a rough design outline is drawn on surface and covered with protective beeswax coating. The glass is then etched down to the inner layer, leaving an outline in relief. Design details are then carved by hand and/or using rotary tools. This vase features black, red, and translucent white glass grounds, cut to reveal a detailed riverine landscape scene in very fine relief. Although he enjoyed only limited commercial success. Rousseau pieces are rare and unless signed. May be difficult to attribute with reasonable certainty to Rousseau. When Rousseau retired in 1887, Leveille took over his plant& in subsequent years produced a variety of art-glass including a small amount of glass with relief carving in the surface. Galle admired and was influenced by Joseph Brocard and Eugene Rousseau. Circa 1885. Eugene Rousseau associated himself with his student Ernest Leveillé(1841-1913) Although Rousseau was never conscious of signing his pieces prior to 1885. Signed Cameo Glass Vase Passion Flower Vine French?
I have for your consideration a gorgeous signed cameo vase. The base glass is yellow and light orange swirled art glass. The outer layer is dark navy blue in a passion flower vine motif. The vase is very heavy. Height of 14" Shoulder diameter of 4" This is in excellent condition. Has one small manufacturing imperfection inside the glass(1/16" in diameter) about 1" below lip. Is prob a piece of ash or some other air contaminate at time of production. Smooth and slightly indented bottom. The vase is signed in the lower third of vase but I have not been able to research the maker. It looks like an F or a J and then Drogamin. Vase appears to be French but I have no way of knowing without identification of maker. I have seen a Harrach(Bohemian) vase that is very similar in color and passion flower motif.
