This beautiful& ultra-rare double-handled vase is characteristic of the Air Trap cased glass produced by a number of American(Phoenix Glass/ Mt. Washington) and European(English/ Bohemian) companies during the late 19th century. Benjamin Richardson first patented this technique in England(1857-58) Joseph Webb of Phoneix Glass works received a patent for a similar product in 1886. This vase has a lovely shape& design. The"Diamond Quilted" pattern shows nicely against the shaded apricot/rust background. The piece has a satin finish which is consistent over the exterior and interior surfaces. The vase s very large& has a nice presence& is in excellent condition with one heat check as shown in the last photo& some anticipated discoloring around the rim due to age. The color is shaded apricot in the Diamond Quilted pattern. I believe the maker is likely either Phoenix Glass or Thomas Webb-any help appreciated. The vases have an unusual shape with a melon rib base. Long narrow neck and flared rim. They measure 7" high, 2" across at the top and about 3 3/4" at the widest point. The pair is in very good estate condition with no damage, wear or restoration found.
