A glass blower blows clear crystal glass into a paper thin shape of glass. The result is a two layer structure with clear glass on the outside and colored glass on the inside. Patterns are then cut into the outside surface and a vivid contrast is created between the colored and transparent glass. Edo Kiriko glass dates back to 1834. It also shows it's age as normal with microscopic flaking on the inner rim, I couldn't even capture it in photos. Stunning hobstars, delicate crosshatching, fine zippered and encased stem. There are several different hand cut designs on this vase, intricate and well done, and the vase is as clear as can be with no cloudiness at all. I am no ABP expert, so I am unfamiliar with pattern names, but beautiful work is universal, and although I do not specialize in ABP glass, I have handled enough to know that this piece is a magnificent example of superior craftsmanship. This vase measures nearly a foot tall! It is a little over 4" across the mouth of the vase. The piece came from the home of a serious ABP collector and was prized, I hope that it will be just as prized in it's new home! Being offered for your consideration is a pair of antique late 19th century. Bohemian enameled& gilt cut glass lustre vases with long hanging clear crystal prisms. Each vase stands 10" high, base diameter is 4" top diameter is 4 1/4" with the six crystal prisms around. The stems of the vases are opaque with an enamel leaf design. The base and the top of each has a white and peach enameled flower and leaf design with the stems of the plant gold gilded. All the prisms are present and with the exception of one that was glued at the neck, are exceptional. The hand cutting on these is remarkable. There are a few tiny flea bites to a few of the prisms that do not detract from this magnificent and elegant pair. These are quite impressive pieces. The color of each vase resonates with a pink hue. Fascinating to look down on these ... moreto see the different thicknesses of the rim.almost as if being there when made! There is actually a layer of blue glass over the cranberry. They are decorated with deeply engraved stags amongst trees with engraved vintage designs around their necks. They have fine detail to the engraving and were created by one of the early bohemian masters, possibly the work of Dominic Bimann, Johann Pohl, August Bohm or Simms of Gablonz. Please just bid on the two crystal vases and think of the pitcher as being a cool extra bonus. It is very nice to look at and will likely clean up to a raucous sparkler. But it should never be used with its one significant crack. Still, a cute little grouping of glass pieces.
