From the bottom, a pale blue to white at the top. Tiny white flowers are scattered, some with enamel dots at center. Bristol Glass was incredibly popular during the"Aesthetic" period when natural motifs were so desired. The enamel and painted designs are highly detailed. The vase hand blown and nicely translucent. You are bidding on a Antique Hand Painted Bristol Opaline Glass Large vase CASTLE AUSTRIA. The vase is 13" high the base is 4 1/4" and the widest point is 4 ½" in diameter. There is a nice picture from a Castle on the vase. As you can see in the pictures the base has a small hole and crack I think it can be fixed but leave it up to the buyer. The neck of the vase has some small chips but it don’t show if the lid is on. The color of the base is Brown the color of the glass is tan/cream, there are brown stripes around the lid. Red, cobalt blue, blue and white with gilt enameling. The rims, edges of pedestal and foot have a gilt highlight. When held to the light the glass shows a lot of fire. They are unmarked. One of the vases has an age split on one side near the bottom as you can see in the picture below and it appears to have been there a while. The vase won’t hold water. This listing is for an Antique. Victorian Enameled Urn Vase, commonly referred to as a Bristol Vase, in Opaline Blue. The vase is hand-blown with a hand-painted floral and bows design and gold trim. The glass is semi-opaque. The pontil scar is a creamy blue. The pedestal style foot is similar to Victorian era vases attributed to France, however most originated from Bohemia or Belgium. There are no maker or decorator marks. The piece likely dates to the mid-late 1800's. The piece measures 12 3/8" high. 3 7/8" in diameter at the mouth, 4 7/8" in diameter at the base and weighs 1 lb 12.9 oz. The vase is chip. Crack and fleabite free. The artwork is in good condition with some marks and fading of the gold trim. The gold trim has faded and has some weak spots and one part missing at the base. Unique antique Bristol glass portrait vase up for auction. Victorian era hand blown opaline glass with painted enamel decorations. The center is a transfer of what looks like Gypsy girls decorated in moriage. One girl has a rhinestone set on her hand as she is showing it to the others. The transfer has a signature. Emerald" The bottom is hand numbered and lettered. I find no cracks. I find a chip on the top rim that looks like someone has filled in with black, camouflages it nicely. There is some wear on the decoration, once there was gold lattice on the black around the center. The gold has also worn away from the bands on the top and bottom. This unusual blown glass Taupe Bristol or Opaline Aesthetic Movement vase has a higher back than front. The top is rimmed with gold. Has very little wear. Painted enamel floral design on the front and inside, with some decoration on the back as well. I have never seen another with a top like this! Antique Opaline Glass Vases - Possibly Bristol Glass
These gorgeous vintage vases are part of Grandmother's estate. Not sure of exact age. But she was married in 1916 and from all that I have read about and can see on theses pieces, they appear to be the real deal. Bristol opaline glass descriptions mention: rough pontil(check) no seams(check) no machine engraving(check) many have gilding(check) some have hand painted flowers(check) light weight(check) Description also calls them- Victorian Bristol Glass enameled with flowers; Victorian Frosted or Satin Handblown. They are each approximately 5 ounces, 10" tall, 4" at base and fluted mouth with some worn gold trim on opaque vase. Each piece adorned with blue, gold, green, orange and white floral decor on front and simple green frond on back. One vase has a slight muted rust stain inside the base which(I was always told) was caused ... morewhen one of my uncles somehow dropped a nail into the vase and it lodged there for some time before being gently dislodged. A cursory glance would lead one to believe that vases were identical, but a more deliberate look reveals that they are slightly different in shape, height and decoration- all of which lends credence to the belief that they were painstakingly hand blown and hand painted and not mass produced. Each is a lovely complement/compliment to the other. I have read that it is unusual to find a pair because inevitably one or the other was defective in some way(breakage) or the pair was separated for some reason. I do not have the proper display area for them and they definitely deserve to be out and appreciated. Will add additional insurance to assure safe delivery or reimbursement costs.

Here we have a pair of stunning 19th century French Opaline glass or Bristol vases. They are covered in hand painted gilt detailing. They are grand& elegant with a weight of aprox 1 1/2 pounds each. The hand blown glass is thin with a gorgeous translucent effect. They are filled with the stray bubbles and both contain pontils to the base. There are no chips or crack just some gilt rub around rims as shown in photos. Some very minor flaking to hand painted design. What an amazing addition to your fine collection. Up for auction is a beautiful antique Victorian Bristol opaline portrait vase with a lady and cherub playing musical instruments on the front. The portrait in encircled by a black scalloped band and has pink and white flowers above and below it. The vase stands 10 1/2" high and measures 4" across the top.
