Antique Hand Blown Green Bristol Glass Vase Up for auction is this beautiful and delicate vase. I believe it has significant age. And is happily in wonderful condition with no chips, cracks or flaws! It stands 7 1/4" tall. 2 1/4" wide at the base and the ruffled rim measures 2 3/4" at it's widest point. Yet this delicate vase weighs less than 5 ounces(130 grams) It is obviously hand crafted. Witness the pontil on the base in the photo. The front of the vase is painted cameo style with the bust of a young woman nestled in a bouquet of lilies of the valley. It weighs about 13 oz I got this with other Bristol Vases. Because of the shape and age. I think this one is Bristol too. The only sign of age I could see is on the mouth gold is worn. Cameo Portrait Vase. It has a pontil mark and the numbers 22 on it bottom. The inside of this piece is a brilliant white. The exterior is finished in an off-white coloring with a matte finish. Bands of the brilliant white are left exposed as rings around the vase. The portrait. Which I believe to be a stencil, has been highlighted by adding color. The portrait is surrounded by a ring of gold followed by a blue/ green Roman or Greek Key design and then another ring of gold. ... moreThis decoration is finished with black scrolls and dots of gold. The rear of the vase is also decorated with simliar black scrolls and dots of gold and a fanciful gold design. It measures about 9-3/4" tall and has an approx. diameter of 3-5/8" at it widest point. The foot measures roughly 3-1/16" in diameter. There are no chips. Cracks or repairs on this piece. There are a few small blemishes on the finish. Using the top of the decorated pattern as 12:00 o'clock, at about the 2:00 o'clock position is a light mark just outside the decoration. This is the type of blemish that I am talking about.
