It appears as if it started“drooping” while in the kiln. DETAIL: A glazed earthenware funerary jar from the Song Dynasty of Ancient China. These were used to leave offerings of rice. Wine, or some other gift for the deceased. The light green glaze became known as“Celadon Green” so named for the color– and is one of the most celebrated styles of ancient China. The lower portion of the neck possesses a circumferential display of human figures, believed to represent the deceased’s family or ancestors. Above the ring of figures wrapping around the circumference of the neck is a depiction of a dragon. With respect to this particular specimen, the glaze shows some minor oxidation(decomposition) due to caustic alkalinity of soil in which it was buried. Though the majority of the glaze remains intact. Glossy, and smooth to touch, there are a few lightly oxidized patches where the glaze is a bit rough and chalky to the touch. Here's a pair of pretty 8 1/4-inch-tall vases with hand-painted roses and gold trim. They are lovely and in great shape for their vintage. With no chips or cracks in the glass. The painted roses and leaves look great. There is some slight wear to the gold trim along the top of one vase, and some slight scratching and signs of wear on each from light use. Two Vintage Ruby Red Glass Bud Vases with Gold Trim
Offered for auction is a beautiful pair of ruby red glass bud vases that are intricately decorated with gold trim and enameled flowers. They belonged to an Aunt who thought they were Italian made. Perhaps from Murano. They were taken very good care of over the years, and do not show wear as they were kept as collectibles, too pretty to use. They are approx. 8" tall, and have gold trim at the top, the neck, bottom rim, and throughout as shown in the photos. They are in excellent condition, and the flowers and trim look near perfect. The vases stand quite tall at 13" and are in excellent condition. The glass is glossy opaline on the inside with a satin finish on the outside. It is decorated with a very unique cream enamel fern& leaf design pattern with gold gilt accent beading and jewels. There is one jewel missing on one vase. I am unsure of the maker though a found one with a similar silhouette and it was referred to as a Bristol vase. They are hand-blown and the pontil has been ground down which usually indicates a higher quality vase. Hand-painted gold detailing gives them added depth and detail. Condition– Very good to excellent. These were definitely used in their day as the gold paint has worn off one more than the other. On the lip. One is rougher but that is a manufacturing issue. First of all. I must say that I've ended my listing early cause the t here were some errors in the listing. Up for bid a pair of very beautiful antique vases typical to the victorian era more than one hundred years ago. These vases. That measures 12" tall, are pro bably French. I found them in the house of a 95 years old woma n who was an antiquarian in the 1950's in Quebec city. There were a lot of treasures for sale in her house when she moved. Among them. These 2 vases. They are in very great condition for their age with no major flaws. I would say that they have a few tiny marks and some gold paint loss but the overall condition is still excellent. I've remarked that on the underneath. There's a little piece of glass missing(like a chips but not visible because it's underneath) And under the blue, it is white. ... moreAlso, you may remark on the last pictures that there's some brown inside, in fact there's some muck or something like that that I haven't completely cleaned. Antique Goofus glass Vases Roses red & gold
In good shape considering their age. But there is color loss on both pieces. No cracks or chips. One vase has roughly 20% color loss, the other closer to 40% I have other pieces for sale in this Rose design. Measure 7" tall. I try to find any defects but I can't guarentee I'll see them all. VINTAGE UNIQUE 40'S-50'S RED GLASS WITH GOLD METAL HANGERS WALL POCKET VASES
This auction is for a vintage pair of wall pocket/vase/planters that are made of a ruby red glass and gold toned metal hangers. The metal is actually made around the neck of the glass pieces and so the glass is not removable from the metal. Unless there is a certain way to remove the glass that I don't know about. They are still easily cleaned without being removed from the hangers. By the look and style. My guess would be that they were made in the 1940's or 50's. They each measure 17" high. They would be perfect for a retro Mid Century decor, especially if you have any red or gold themes going on. What a delightful Trio of little Victorian BUD VASES! All are made of opaque glass- beige. Golden yellow& white- with a matte/satin finish. The first has a squatty base and narrow. Tapered neck that flares out at the top- decorated with hand painted flowers, leaves and ferns in shades of blues and purples- accented with raised white enamel flower petals. Lime green painted accent bands surround the rim, foot and base of the neck. This pretty piece stands just 4.5" tall- 2.75" wide, with a 1.75" wide foot. The second has a bulbous bottom with enamel flowers around the base done in sepia tones on golden yellow glass- an insect can be seen flying at the base of the neck. Here is a pair Victorian art glass vase by Bristol. Patterns are not a perfect match but close. Found in the same estate sitting on opposite ends of a mantle. Each stands 11 1/2" tall. These Pair of Large Green Iridescent Vases are beautiful.with Hand Painted Gold Grape& Grape Leaf Designs + Gold Scrolls. The size is approx 22cm overall in height x 7cm diameter@ the tops + they have a Gold Rim@ the top. I'm not sure of their age. They were my Great Grand Mother's, have been behind Glass in a Cabinet, so no fading or damage. Excellent Condition. We are offering this very nice pair of Antique Victorian Opaline vases with large 7" hanging crystals. Each one is 2 pieces with the small piece on top approx 1" and the bottom larger piece approx. 6" They are overall in very nice condition- spectacular original crystals attached to the beautifully hand painted vases. There are no noticeable cracks or chips in the vases. Most of the original gilding is present although some has faded over time. Unfortunately one of the crystals is missing but depending on the angle you display the pieces it will not be noticed. I don't know enough about Bristol to know if these are or not. They are paper thin. So delicate. They look frosted and do not have a pontif on the bottom. They have painted gold flowers on them and measure about 9 1/2 inches tall and 3 3/4 inches tall at the widest part at the top. This pair is in a large box with packing paper, bubble wrap, styrofoam and marked Fragile!
