Bohemian Antique Palda Oertel Moser Era Cobalt Overlay Cut Cased Art Glass Vase I just purchased this antique Cut Overlay vase from a local estate here in Central Virginia. The vase is characteristic of the cased cut back art glass produced by a number of Bohemian factories working in Novy Bor during the 1920's/ 1930's(Karl Palda/ Johann Oertel/ Rudolf Eiselt and others) The vase has an Art Deco inspired design with three vertical panels cut with stylized fan/ leaf detail separated by three panels with tightly arranged vertical diamonds/ faceted ovals. The piece is done in crystal with deep cobalt blue overlay. The cutting shows very fine line and bright polished edges. The piece has nice presence measuring 10 ½" high and 3" wide at the base and 2 ½" across the top rim. The vase is in excellent condition with ... moreno damage and only light signs of use. There is very fine contact wear on the polished/ star cut foot. The interior shows nice clarity with no cloudiness or mineral/ water staining. This elegant cobalt overlay vase would make a nice addition to any collection of vintage Bohemian art glass or early 20th century Cut Glass. International bidders. Beautiful emerald green gold enameled vase Moser Murano Era Decorative Arts It is about 4" across at the bottom tapering to 1" at the top. And 13" tall. There are no chips or cracks in glass. There is a small straight chip off One of the flower peddles, which I hadn't noticed.it had to be pointed out to me.it is pictured in the last photo.the gold gilt is in great shape. Was hard to get pics.as the shine reflects everything in front of it. All the items that I will be listing are from my parents estate.they have been packed away for years as I didn't have the heart to go through them. Up for your kind consideration is this wonderful piece of vintage glass. I know of no completely objective way to describe the condition of vintage glass. The phrase"mint" is often the word used by sellers and there are rarely any examples of glass that fall into this category. To avoid any form of disappointment. I offer a liberal returns policy. Examination is the only method of meeting your personal expectations and in that light, it reduces the need to pull out a microscope, which I cannot do. Glass collectors have individual opinions and criterion for acquiring glass for an individual collection. Almost all old glass shows signs of usage. Newman's book. An Illustrated Dictionary of Glass, does not include the word"mint" and neither can"mint" be found in any of the books in my reference library. In my ... moreopinion, the word"mint" should be a term that is never used by glass collectors. Expecting a mint piece in glassware that is true vintage isn't realistic. Therefore. It is not a suitable term for collectible glassware. All previously owned examples of glassware will take on imperfections that were evident at the very moment that it was sold as new and hand made glassware will always have imperfections in the glass such as small seeds or blisters, even bubbles. A common-sense approach to grading condition is to trust the seller and be kind. I would only buy from sellers with a returns policy. The main feature of any piece of glass is the fine work and engraving. Do not discard a piece for reasons of imperfection. Truly antique glass is harder and harder to find over time. While the price of glass dropped in years past. The original Baby Boomer collectors have been moving aside for the Millennials, who are now acquiring these treasures along side of tube-radios and vinyl records. The entire vase is hand painted with a floral spray pf pink and white enameled rose with white and gold gilt stems and leaves. Absolutely a marvelous with detail. No fading in the hand painted floral motif. There is gold band accents on the rim. Just below the rim, and just above the flat base. 10% fading at best. Decoration is believed to be attributed to Moser. Mulhaus or other talented Bohemian refiner. Signed with hand painted numbers in gold. 38 265.
