This amazing set is has three Bristol Blue decanters: Rum, Brandy and Hollands, each with their original lozenge shaped stoppers, and the original black papier mache stand with brass fittings. Wow! When was the last time you saw a three decanter set with the stand? You see single decanters once and a while, but to find all three sister decanters AND their stand, well, that's a rarity! All three decanters are in excellent condition with no damage or chips or damage, but there is some wear to the gold gilding, especially to the Hollands decanter, and to all the stoppers. The Brandy and Rum stoppers have a noticeable chip or two. The stoppers have the letter"B" R" and"H" gilt on them(the Rum stopper has the most wear to the gilding with the letter"R" pretty much gone but you can see the"ghost" of where it was) and all stoppers have a small plant design gilt on the backs. The decanters with their stoppers stand about 9 1/4" tall(they vary slightly as they are all hand blown and made) The stand is about 10 1/2" tall and 9" wide, and has some slight wear to the papier mache which has some minor peeling near one or two of the edges and has warped very slightly in the center, but it sits perfectly still and level and holds the decanters very nicely and securely. Considering this is from around 1800 it is in amazing condition and is a true object of beauty. If you're a serious glass collector do not miss this one of a kind stunningly beautiful Bristol Blue Glass Decanter set, from the regency empire classical federal period. Due to the very very fragile nature of this glass item it will have to be double boxed and very very well packed in big boxes, hence the shipping costs. Antique English Victorian Pink Cased Glass Bristol Enamel Daffodil Vase - No.'d
If I called this lovely color deep burmese pink it would be more accurate. But I'd open myself up for a lot of trouble! Rather, it is a beautiful mauve which cases hand blown milk glass. The ornate enamel painting depicts daffodils* a favorite subject of the Victorians. The condition is just terrific! Free from all blemishes great and small. There is excrutiatingly minor paint loss- a tad of gilding on the foot ring(see photo#11) and a bit of accent gilding. The rest of the enamel is very very strong and free from chips. The number"13" is hand painted on the underside of the foot. But I've yet to see any of it's relatives 1 thru 12. I've seen similar vases, but the neck opening is peculiarly small- making this vase unusual. It's tall enough to hold one long stem, perhaps a daffodil or iris from your garden? This includes a reverse-matched pair, measuring 10.25" tall, and another 13.25" heavily enameled piece with a floral design. All pieces are in excellent conditions, free of chips, cracks, or damage. There is wear to the gold gilt as shown, and the upper portion of the taller vase appears to be slightly on an angle(i.e. if you put a ruler on the top of the rim, it will angle slightly, rather than parallel with the table) This occurred during manufacture. The vases measure 10 ¼ inches or 26 cm high. And are 5 ½ inches or 14 cm at their widest. The glass vases are white on the interior with a graduated pink and yellow color on the exterior. At the front of the vases are a portrait of two young girls in a round cartouche. They are further enhanced with hand enameled with a flowering cherry blossom branch in pink, white and green. They also have heavy applied gold highlights accenting them. The bottoms have a decorators mark as well. They make a fine pair and are ready for display in your home or shop. The vases are in overall very good condition with the exception of some small fleabites on the top rims. And age appropriate ... morewear to the heavy applied gold highlightes. One vase has a dimple in the glass on the backside rim which makes a dark spot on the glass. This is not a chip but was in the making of the glass.
