Delicate and substantial in size(measures 5" x 4" and stands 2 1/2" high) this box will look great on display or vanity desk and will bring ambiance to any decor. Antique GERMAN Blue and White Hanging SALT BOX - VERY NICE CONDITION
You are bidding on a very nice salt box with a lovely blue design. The word"Salt" is lettered in gold- with some wear showing on the lettering- particularly on the letter S. There is also gold trim on the hanging tab but it is worn off on the lower sections. Please check all my pictures as I strive to show all I describe in the pictures! It is marked Germany in two places on the bottom as well as there being a triangle hallmark which include more letters which I can't make out. The box measures 4 and 3/4 inches and stands 4 and 1/2 inches to the top of the wood lid(6 and 3/4 inches to the top of the back) It has a hole in the back for hanging and a wooden flap lid. The lid itself is in very good condition with a pretty edge. The two nails which are the hinges do not look to be original and there is definite but painstaking repair ... moredone to the underside of the lid by the right hinge. The unglazed part of the bottom edge is soiled. The box weighs about 1 lb 9 oz without any packing materials or the box to ship it in. Up for your consideration I have for you today this beautiful Antique German"flour" Salt Box. It stands at 12 1/4" tall x 5" across the bottom x 5" in diameter. It features a wooded lid with a carved detailed wooden back having a hole in the center for hanging on the wall. The back is attached to the bottom of the porcelain jar part. Having large round dowel knobs entering from behind the piece to the interior of the piece. The porcelain bottom measures 6 1/2" tall. The front has hand violets, along with some white snowdrops, amongst entwined green leaves. It is all accented with bands of gold. There is also a medallion type flower at the very top which is pronounced and highlighted in gold. At the very center of the piece written in old style German is the thick lettering in gold"Mehl" which stands ... morefor Flour. This piece was used in the kitchen, I am guessing from the 1800's to store flour. It is free standing and can also be hung up. Antique Queen Louise dresser box hand painted German signed Reneau
This is a hand painted porcelain dresser box with a hand painted picture of Queen Louise of Prussia on the top. The box is cobalt besides the painting. The box is 4 5/8 inches in diameter and 2 ½ inches high. The painting is signed by the artist Reneau. The box has 3 hand drawn stars on the bottom but we have not been able to identify the mark. We believe the box is German and dates to the late 19th or early 20th century. There is a chip to the lid on the inside. It cannot be seen from the outside of the box. Trinket box measures approx. 3 1/4 inches tall. 5 inches long, and 2 1/2 inches wide. There is a baby in a basket with his finger on a button on a board. The buttons are written in German, but I think they mean Mother! Milk! Wet! Sing! The box is an off white color with gold paint accents. This came from an estate sale, so I have no idea how old it is. The inside back of the lid shows a repair- it looks like the board part broke off and was glued back. It is most noticeable inside the lid, but there is a small crack on the outside. Other than that, the piece looks to be in good condition- although it is showing some soiling and needs cleaning. It is marked on the bottom with the Sitzendorf mark and the numbers 21050 or 21060. I was told this piece is featured on page 562 of the book"The Collectors Encyclopedia of Half-Dolls" by F. Marion and N. Werner. This lovely lady in the blue dress appears to be sitting in a white chair. Her arms drape over the back of the chair. An antique German flour keeper. Cr 1900. It has a pretty design of blue and white flowers with leaves in blue and green set off by gold flowers and edging on a white ground. Gold lettering for the word"Mehl" German for flour) is in the center of the front face. The wooden lid is hinged and plain but the wall hanger has a design carved into it. The hanger is fastened to the'pot' with two screws, one of which looks to be a replacement, and held in place on the inside by two wooden caps. The piece is in very good condition for its age although there is wear to the hinge and some of the gilding is also worn. Mainly on the top edge where the lid is lifted. There are no chips, cracks or crazing to the porcelain. It can be hung on the wall or free standing. Fantastic half doll vanity or dresser dish made in Germany in the late 1800's. It is 5 2/3" tall x 4 1/4" at the widest part with a 2 7/8" base. Amazing condition and very nicely painted with good detailing to her face and dress and a nice lusterware finish. Scuff marks to the base from shelf wear but there are no chips. Cracks or crazing. Marked on the bottom in orange, Germany and impressed into the porcelain are the numbers 5925 and under them is a 1 and written in green is the number 14. Please look at the pictures. This German Company manufactured porcelain products from the late 1800s- 1937. This piece is a combination of cobalt blue on a white Base. It is hand painted and has grape ivy gold accents throughout. The center portrait is of a woman and two cherubs. There are no cracks or crazing. Some of the gold ivy has worn off. Antique Young Child Peering In Vanity Mirror Trinket Box/Griffins on Base/GERMAN
This is a WONDERFUL Antique German Trinket Box that depicts a young child sitting on top of a vanity peering into a mirror. I'm assuming there was never a mirror as there is no residue on the backside that would indicate a mirror being attached. There are two griffins at the base.one on each side. The griffin on the left has a slight stress fracture at the neck and the griffin on the right has a similar stress fracture on the inside edge. There is a small amount of paint loss but in no way detracts from the display of this piece. There are no other cracks or stress fractures. No chips or repairs.
