This is a stunner- a wonderful porcelain footed dresser box with cast brass feet and bird and floral motif. It is marked B& CIE(Limoges? and is in great shape. Minor yellowing on part of the lid. Porcelain is handpainted with design- no chips or flaws. It is lined with a buttoned silk padded top. The silk has some wear to it. Box measures approximately 5x5 x 4.5" tall. The brass feet have Bacchanalian figural designs with bearded laughing figures. Originally. It probably had a key(judging from lock on front) but was lost long ago. Antique Capodimonte Hand Painted Hinged Porcelain Footed Trinket Dresser Box
Antique Capodimonte Hand Painted Hinged Porcelain Footed Trinket Box w/ Gold Trim Marked on bottom- N" with the Royal Crown on top If there is no bid in this item in the first 24 hours we reserve the right to end the auction. This trinket box measures approx 3 3/4" tall and is 5" wide and 4 1/2" deep(including knob and hinge) It is in great shape. It is marked with the Capodimonte"N" and has the Royal Crown on top. All in blue, although it is faint, it can still be seen. Pics are harder to see it than in real. Last two are of the mark. Research tells us from the mark. That this could have been made sometime between the 1850's and 1890's, but we are not experts, so we will have to leave that up to you to decide. There are no cracks on this peice. But there is crazing. Mostly seen on the outside bottom ... moreand starting to be seen on the inside bottom. There is a flaked chip on the top edge inside the rim on the right side. This cannot be seen from the outside when closed. The chip measures approx 1/4" long x 3/8" wide. I do not see any cracks steming from this chip. The bronze or brass trim with the hinge and knob looks to have the original grout and is on nice and tight. The hinge is nice and solid. Not all loose and wiggly. When closed it grips tight and stays closed. There is some wear to the finish of the trim and has some nice patina that comes with age. There is some wear to the gold gilt. Mostly on the lid. I can see a couple small scratches on the paint, but you really have to be looking for it. All in all the condition is excellent for its age! The scenes are beautiful! The lid has two cherubs right above the knob and they have some flowers with them. The top of the lid has some beautiful spotted horses with riders. And a man standing next to a tree. The front looks like some villagers chatting amongst themselves. There are two signs on either end of the scene, which could be a village meeting.
