On the top of the box there is a very lovely scene of a man and a woman who are in love. The woman is holding the man with her arms around his shoulders. While the man is looking at her. For your consideration is this antique trinket box. This box was made by Samson& Co. A French firm that produced porcelain in the 19th century. It was often mistaken for Chinese export because it was common for Samson to mark their wares with a pseudo-iron red seal resembling a Chinese stamp. The hand-painted hinged box has pink. Purple, and orange roses and other flower shapes surrounding a coat-of-arms. There is a banner beneath that reads LABOR, which could be referring to, or relating to the labour party. The hinges and trim look to be either brass or bronze, and the box sits in a footed frame that has been embellished ... morewith a beautiful cloisonne in the colors of blue, green, and red. Lovely antique 19th Century Limoges porcelain dresser box by R. Laporte. Soft blue exterior with gold painted accent design. White daisies transfer on the lid, and yellow interior. There are a few flaws, and although notable, you have to be looking for them to notice. I would say it is in good condition however there has been a repair(please see hairline crack in photos) which I didn’t notice until I ran my fingers over it. There is also a small crack in the foot(1/4” long) see 3 rd photo. Neither of these things are noticeable or take away from the beauty of the piece. The flowers on the lid are pink and white with grey leaves. The handle and edge have gold leaf remnants. The lid has a chip as depicted in the photos. The few"Brush Boxes" I have found are described as for tooth brushes and also for hair brushes. One seller indicates"Victorian Women used this type of box on their dressers or vanities to hide common hair styling items from sight; the shelving on the interior allowed loose hair to fall to the bottom. More often I see them described for holding tooth brushes. The hand crafted racks/shelves inside this box are actually shaped like a moustache or lips! This wonderful German fairing trinket box is in the form of a young woman with dark hair admiring herself in a mirror atop her dresser. It has nice detail and is highlighted with gold gilt. It appears to have the original mirror and has an incised mark on the underside. It dates from the 19th Century and measures approximately 8 + 5/8 inches tall overall to the top of the mirror by 5 + ¾ inches across at its widest by 5 inches across the bottom. 18th Century French Style Obelisk With Horses Ceramic Earthenware Porcelain
You are buying a beautiful and interesting decorative earthenware obelisk. It is over 18" tall and about 6" wide at its widest point. The colors. The painting, the horse heads just scream 18th Century Country French. French, French, French! Is it French? I don't honestly know for sure. I won't lie. But it sure looks French. There is no makers mark or stamp or label on the bottom. And the glazes have that look leading me to believe that it is significantly old. I could be wrong- you be the judge. It is really neat looking and well made. The last picture is of the obelisk sitting on my hutch so you can get a sense of the scale- it is quite large. Four horse heads sit atop the plinthe to support the shaft, and the piece has round ball feet. Please see my other listings for the rest. This one is rectangular and somewhat trunk shaped. It measures 1 5/8 inches by 1 1/4 inches by 1 3/8 inches tall. The top features a lyre with branches. Green leaf garlands go around the top and bottom sides. The inside of the lid says"Maitre de Chapelle" The inside of the bottom has 3 blue dots. The bottom is marked. For sale: A Antique 19th Century Staffordshire Porcelain Fairing Trinket Box Man's Dresser. The piece is made out of porcelain with painted highlights. Stands about 4 inches tall to the very top by about 2 3/4 inches wide. Figure is in the design of a man's dresser with accessories on the top. There is wear to the paint. Almost no paint left and surface dirt. There are no cracks or chips. As you can see there is no mirror in the round part. Great manly piece for cufflinks etc. Thanks, Meg

Victorian 19th Century Porcelain China Fairing Figuirine Man Reclining Pin Box
Here is a wonderful little porcelain fairing box. Standing about 2 1/4 inches tall. This features a well fed gentlemen siting on a chaise or sofa. There is some gold gilding on his cuffs and hems, and gold luster glaze on his pants. The top lifts off to reveal the box for pins or other small items. There are some incised numbers on the base, and a decorators mark in black. There are some losses to the finish as shown, but no chips, cracks repairs or other damage.
