bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb This rare antique French(Marseille) faience Veuve Perrin enameled handled candy dish with lid/cover is finely painted in colored enamels with several flower bouquet sprays. With scattered similar flower bouquet sprays around the sides. The lid has an apple on top of it. Size: From tip of handle to handle 8 inches across and stands 4 inches high to the tip of the lid(the apple) Condition: Excellent for a piece of 18 th century faience. Museum quality. No chips, cracks or restoration. Some minor frits to glaze on the lip of the base and a tiny one on the rim of the lid(it can barely be seen, you really have to look for it) and no crazing. It still carries a brilliant shine to the finish. The V and P marking on the bottom of this tureen is of the 18 th century faience manufacturer Veuve Perrin in Marseilles. France. ... moreThe Perrin manufacturing company was founded by Claude Perrin. When he died in 1748. His wife Pierrette Candelot became head of the company. Under her leadership, the manufacturer became well known for superbly decorated faience items. The company’s painters were sent to French art academies to acquire elegance and perfection in their work. The mark on the bottoms of these items was the combined“VP” for“Veuve Perrin” which means“Perrin’s widow” The Veuve Perrin manufacturing company was closed in 1803. Eight years after Pierrette Candelot had died in 1793. The combined VP mark of Veuve Perrin was not standardized and exists in numerous variants. I have read the mark VP mark with a dot below the loop of the P is a sign of A DISTINGUISHED PRIVATE COLLECTION made to order and probably one of a kind. I have also been told this could be a reproduction. But nevertheless it still would be as valuable because it would have been reproduced during the same time period. Made by the De Vergulde Blompot(Gilded Flowerpot) and decorated in the Imari style. This superb earthenware butter box was used in the 18th century as a fun but functional table item. The box is octagonal with a flared base and had two raised rounded and piercedhandles. The lid is butterfly-shaped with a gilded edge and has a fabulous red-spotted cow sitting proudly on top. The box has been painted in the Imari style and shows panels with baskets of flowers and village scenes separated by iron red and gold gilt leaves. Pink enamel over copper base, white top/interior, mirrored lid, original patina metal trim with fully functioning hinge and front tiny finger knob to open/close. Measures 1 ⅝” wide, 1 ¼” deep, ⅞-1” high. Antique Sevres Trinket Box. Beautiful Cobalt Flow Blue Jewelry Box. 18th 1758?
This is a very pretty trinket box in a cobalt blue with brass hinges and is hand painted by Sevres Porcelain Factory. Sevres France Some of blue flows through some of the base along the rim. The box seems to have been made in 1758 according to the mark on bottom. Its approximatly 3" in dia. by 2-1/4" tall. Condition: The hing is missing a little pin. The hinge otherwise has no damage. The ring around the lid is loose. There are two ting chips of the gilt on the top of lid. and a small rub mark where the clasp of the ring would snap to the base. Other wise this is very beautiful. There are no chips or cracks to the porcelain and the paint is beautiful. any info on the item is helpful. If you need any additional pictures or have any questions please email before bidding. Antique Spalding Exercise "Indian" Clubs form late 18th Century
For sale is a pair of Spalding Indian Clubs. One is marked Spalding and both are marked 4 lbs. These clubs have never been refinished or repainted(thankfully) and maintain their nice patina. Please see the pictures. Notice the hand turned rings at the top of the clubs for better grip. Indian clubs of this type were used for exercise in the late 1800's and early 1900 hundreds. At 4 lbs these are not juggling or bowling. Until the 1920's. Club swinging contests were held in major cities.
